@Fuckboys

How is it going? Trust you are good.

It’s been 4 months since I have been using the Josh system. Here are my observations as I would love to hear from you as well.

I have 2 controllers, a PWM and the Felicity 30Amps MPPT controller. They seem to not function optimally anymore. Perhaps it’s from the controllers or from the system itself.

Felicit Charge Controller
Starting with the Felicity charge controller, at first when I got it, it was perfect, no problem at all. Then for the last one month, before it charges my system, it must make sure it sees a low voltage of at least 12.6V from the previous night before it considers to charge the battery. Otherwise, if it starts charging the battery above 12,6V, it will assume that battery is full when it gets to 13.1V or so and will stop charging.

Secondly, if all loads are fully connected at that 12.6V from the previous night at around maybe at 7:30am when it sees sunlight, it will keep charging normally until I turn on any other load, this controller will just turn on the red light with the “Error 04” message; suggesting that the battery is full. And will stop charging no matter how long you wait for it. The system will keep draining and it will still refuse to charge. You can imagine.

To fix this issue, I usually will disconnect the wires from the controller and connect them to the PWM controller. But this solution has stopped because the PWM controller, no longer charges the system anymore. The only thing it does is to throw the “Error 12” message and keeps tripping after every few seconds.

PWM Controller
Like I mentioned before, this one no longer charges my system.

The Fix these days
Since the PWM no longer charges my system, I have no option than to rely on my Felicity. So if the problem of it refusing to charge my system because it feels that my system’s battery is full, or the second problem of it refusing to charge when I turn on more load and it returns the “error 04” message, I will firstly bridge the wire from the system in just a second, and connect it to the controller, then connect back the wire from the to the controller. After this is done, the system starts charging again. This is my fix this past one month.

Why am I explaining these details?
I have seen you ask questions about the authenticity of your charge controller, and I am almost tempted to ask the same question. But what is the probability of three controllers having an issue to the same type of system? Could it be that the system has an issue with imbalance in it’s connected batteries? Or could there be more? Or is it just a normal thing and probably all these analysis is just in the head?

Most importantly
I am considering upgrading my system, and I saw you posted the other day that you also want to upgrade, which begs me to ask you if you want to another of Josh’s system or not. I am considering that, and on one end, I guess my decision really lies on your own review as well.

Apologies for making this a long one, but for the sake of anyone considering getting Joshnka system, you really have to consider all these reviews to know if it’s worth it or not.

Ps: so far so good, there is nothing wrong with how long the system lasts or so, it’s still serving me perfectly but for this issues I’ve pointed out.

Thanks in anticipation.

I'm sorry for all that but to be sincere with you. If I'd known what I know now about solar system I won't purchase Josh system.

I would have bought everything myself and have an installer mount them for me. If I was to do this again, I'll get a 2kva hybrid sms inverter and a 100ah powmr battery and 2 450w jinko s

The money I spent on Josh system and the upgrades I did personally on his system will comfortably get me the above with a whole lot of change to spare. Cos I've upgraded his inverter and charge controller.

Most lifepo4 batteries come with a serial number or bar code to scan and take you to the manufacturer website to give you more details of the batteries, guess what , I opened up my battery casing one day and it's a generic battery cells inisde with no serial numbers or anything and the batteries are grade b cells.

The system has been flawless anyway, and yes I was doubting the authenticity of the cc for a while but I later confirmed it's a true sms 30a mppt. Been using the cc for 2 months now and it normally disconnects charge at 14.6 and reconnects at 12.9. And I'm also very happy about it's performance at very cloudy weather conditions cos it still pulls a lot of watts even during rainfall, can you imagine?.

I got the below cc 60a powmr recently from a popular Nairalander here and I'd be doing a 3rd the system. I'd be adding another 100ah battery to the system with additional s. My current 30a cc in 12v system can only max 380w and that's too poor for a combined 2.4kw 200ah battery bank.

Now what i think about your system, i think you have a very inbalanced battery cells, you need to regularly charge your battery with a charger not just solar charging, charge overnight with the inverter on so when the battery is full it diverts to current to the inverter and this can help balance your cells.

So I eventually connected the D2 to power the whole house

The issue now is that, I wanted a load separación, so the most sockets in the kitchen will not be on the D2, but on Nepa,
However, the way the house was wired make it almost imposible as the kitchen and parlor on the same phase or so
Meaning I can separate the kitchen power from the D2 without affetcting parlor as well.

But I saw that while, charging with AC/Nepa and using the D2, that the device has a by capacity , that allows power from mains to go to the house directly, bying the D2.

Pls I need exact info on this

Does it mean, when there is light, I can use anything, since the light will by the D2.

By simply means you can use the device while charging. Several other products do not -through current.

Be patient till light comes. You can use generator, but it has some learning curves to it because some of our petrol gen are not sine wave. So, be patient for the first charge.

As for generator, I stand to be corrected. You may need to reduce the charging speed in the Ecoflow app for it to work and most likely use it with a stabilizer. Something of that nature. You can google it.

UPDATE:

Okay, I just tried mine with a generator after servicing it. It worked when I plugged it directly into the socket. It did not work with a stabilizer at all. And the charging speed I set it to was 500W. Generator is rated 2.5KVA.

Use a stabilizer. Also, ensure you set the charging speed, and whatever you set it to must not be more than the stabilizer capacity. Best you set it to half of it. Always use a stabilizer before PHCN with its dirty power damage your device.

YOu will have to put it ON, and if that error code is still there, reset the BMS by holding the power button for a few seconds before you do anything again.

So far you use it with stabilizer, there is nothing you should be afraid of. If the light is too much, the stabilizer will not even allow it through.

As for Whatsapp, we are happy with this thread for future reference. Anyone can read from the beginning...not so with Whatsapp. Thanks.
