My inverter has been functioning fine for the past 3 years and I've only took it out for repair only once till this recent ordeal.

I've a 5kva inverter system so it'll stay at 1% load whenever I do not have any appliance powered on the system but now, it'll just stay at 13% without any load powered on the inverter which is not the way it was before.

And when I switched on my TV and Inverter 1.5hp AC, the load rate will go up high as 25% to 28% and my inverter will be working making a very loud humming sound just like those NEPA transformer make when it has carried load. The sound is very noticeable as the inverter is working and any visitor can easily notice it which is not the way my inverter works before.

This humming sound is different from the sound of the inverter fan as the Inverter fans as working pretty fine as it'll pause for minutes and the fan will start to blow out heat from the inverter which it was designed for.

I'm confused as what could be the reason why my inverter is inducing load of up to 14% when there is no load powered on it and it'll be making that humming sound as if I had NEPA Transformer working on my house?

Can you tell us what became of this issue?

Hi house, great work I've seen being done on this thread.
I'll be needing your help once again.
I finally got the growatt spf 6000es and the growatt hope 5.5l-a1 battery with 6 620W jinko s.
Time for installation, I reached out to the installer who had first given me a quote that I had procured the main things myself.
Now he sent me a new quote with some things added which weren't in the first quote.
Please could anyone help me go over this quote if it's proper?

We can assist if you are in lagos for better design, the installer may not be experienced with high voltage system for quoting 16mm solar cable for only 6 that will be in series.
if not in lagos we can send you appropriate cable sizes, and protective devices, is on personal text.

Aluminum rails with bolts and nuts for 6s is like 25-50k depending on the installer
100a knife switch is 5k(u don't need 200a)
6mm DC cable is 3800/yard and are you living on the ground floor of a 3story building. That 45meters long o
AC & DC SPD 10k each
AC & DC MCB 16k for both
9-12way db - 10k
4mm AC cables - 900/yard
10mm is overkill for 5kw

I'll advise you get another installer thats not after ur life. He just pissed u bought those materials yourself.

Good morning house.

Can anyone please recommend a repairer at Arena oshodi who has the expertise to fix an Outback mppt 80a charge controller??

I appreciate all responses.

Did you know that your Lithium Battery Cycle Life depends on a lot of factors?

Eg:
Depth of Discharge (DOD),
Relative Humidity,
Charging Temperature,
Discharging Temperature,
Storage Temperature,

To get close to 8000 cycles, you must do around 50% DOD,
for around 6000 cycles, you must do around 80% DOD,
If you got around 4000 cycles and below, you must have been doing close to 100% DOD.

Best Temperature and Humidity Values should be within the following ranges.:

Relative Humidity
5%~95%

Charging Temperature
0°C~55°C

Discharging Temperature
-20°C~60°C

Storage Temperature
-10°C~30°C

INSTALLERS IN THE HOUSE, DO YOURSELF A FAVOUR TO ALWAYS SING THIS MESSAGE TO YOUR CLIENTS, BECAUSE PLEANTY PEOPLE AND COMAPNIES WILL BE DRAGGED IN ABOUT FIVE YEARS FROM NOW BECAUSE THEY TOLD THEIR CLIENTS THAT THEIR BATTERIES HAVE 8000 CYCLES, 6000 CYCLES, ETC.

For people that are installing their systems without adequate ventilation and other operating conditions as recommended by OEMs and also those who did not install adequate battery bank then end up discharging the one they had to zero% before daybreak. DO NOT SAY NOBODY TOLD YOU ABOUT THIS.

This quotation is overly inflated and the installer seems inexperienced from the size of Cables on the list.

16mm DC cable is too much for 6 s that will be connected in series as the current is under 20A.

Same goes to 16mm AC cable for a 6KW inverter.

Actually they can use to Zero daily and still enjoy 4000 cycles for first life, then it still have 80% capacity..

Second life self will give another 6-8 years.. some brands are even using second life cells now.

You are right bro. 6mm DC cable is sufficient if MPPT is 500v. Its one of the reasons i prefer Hybrid inverters. Higher MPPT voltage range requires less cable mm

Thank you, I've ed an installer who gave me prices close to what you quoted, though his cable costs 6000/yard. I would negotiate more on that with him in the morning.
