I was raised in a Christian household, with my father even a pastor. Throughout my university years, I found joy in attending church and participating actively in church-related activities.

Lately, I’ve started feeling a sense of reluctance, even resentment, about attending church. This has become a point of tension between my wife and me, leading to arguments every Sunday.

What can I do, please?

Why are you feeling a sense of reluctance and resentment about attending church?

Do it for faith, or do it for Peace in your home (making the wife happy).

You didn't have this agnostic tendency before you married her, so all of a sudden becoming a non-church goer can trigger her spiritual alarm bells i.e "the enemy is waging war against her home, and winning".

You're on the right track, no cause for alarm.

How do you know that he is having 'agnostic tendency'?

He doesn't need a pastor or Church to reach God.. he can reach God at the comfort of his home. That's total emancipation. There's joy in Heaven.

Why are you feeling a sense of reluctance and resentment about attending church?

Life's journey is challenging, and I feel that going to church isn't contributing meaningfully to it. I'm starting to question why I should wholeheartedly commit to something that doesn't seem to add much value to my path. These thoughts have been weighing heavily on my mind.

The church I attend are only concerned about their building projects, offering and tithe that

What exactly is the challenge?

From financial struggles, marital challenges, and career stagnation are weighing me down.

In the past, the church I attended was a source of immense and encouragement. They genuinely cared about the well-being of their . However, since I moved and started attending worship centers in my new location, I’ve noticed a stark difference. These churches seem more focused on their own needs—building projects, offerings, and tithes—than on the spiritual and emotional well-being of their congregation.

Sunday services often revolve around money, to the point where I sometimes feel discouraged from attending if I don’t have anything to give. It’s disheartening and leaves me feeling disconnected."

You must find your first love and not depart from the way your parents have set before you. For in the end, you'll find that all that really matters is how ready we are for the life after now. All people are running after now is just but vanity 'and vexation of spirit.' Pray that the Lord revives and restores you, for there is no other way!

You're not alone—many people feel disconnected from their local church community while still maintaining their faith in the church itself.

, the physical congregation is different from the true Church of Christ. Even the early church faced challenges.

One reason for this disconnect is that those of us who lean toward intellectualism often struggle to grasp the spiritual journey and spiritual warfare. We tend to view life through a scientific lens rather than a spiritual one, which can make us vulnerable to discouragement and oppression in various ways.

The key question to ask yourself is: How is your relationship with God?

Is it growing, stagnant, or do you feel like spiritual forces are hindering your progress in your Christian journey?

Take some time for self-reflection, seek God’s direction for your life, and do your best to walk the path He has set for you.

seek first the kingdom of God and its Righteousness and all other things will be added.

Walk closer to God in Reading the Word, Prayer and building up of your character (Righteousness ) all other things will fall in place.

, no award for number of times you went to Church in Heaven.

Don't end up being a typical Nigerian who goes to church but character wise doesn't show the effects.

OP, you just freed yourself from Christianity bondage. Church is just to put morals into our souls. You are an adult now and should expect to behave morally in the society. Make sure your kids go to church to obtain this good behavioural ethics(uprightness) too, so when they become adult, they will follow the way of purity.

But you still need to go to church for social activities. Not necessarily what the pastor has to say, but just to have that togetherness with people, so you guys can connect and share matters with one another. Even sharing business tips too!

So are the morals of the church right?
Love800(m): 1:45pm On Feb 16
Very right. Its up to the individual to incorporate the morals into themselves!

You were obviously not growing or gaining anything from the church you were attending.
I will advise you to keep searching for truth. Make real effort to find God. Listen to various doctrines and pray for direction.

yes, he has freed himself from the usual nonsense prosperity and richness always preached in the church.

His kids needs to go there because uprightness and good characters are been spoken in the church too. Kids needs them(morals) , so that they will grow up with a clean heart devoid of crimes at home and in the society.

Here is the catch. Wealth and ethics(good characters) are being discussed in the church from the pastors and senior men of God. You as an adult who already have gained knowledge about the ethics(morals) can abandon the church. You can read your bible at home for more spiritual cleansing and leave those pastors with their fake promising of prosperity and wealth!

So the only problem of the church is the teaching of prosperity and richness?
Love800(m): 2:27pm On Feb 16
Exactly. Giving false hope and not encouraging the masses to work harder at their workplaces, thinking that bread will just drop from heaven for dem.
And again, church who already know the right things to do, will pretend to be a saint in church but choose to be very wicked in their neighbourhood. Very few of the congregation are kind!

Its up to the individual to choose to be wicked or patronise kindness.

Your children are born with an empty mind sheet of paper. You need to integrate or inscript morals into the empty sheet. Later in life as adults, with their already acquired knowledge of uprightness, they can choose to use or not use it. But the best thing is to tutor that Christ-teachings into dem in their earlier lives. If they choose to abandon it afterwards in their man/woman hood, you as the parent has already tried your best!
