19 states in the North
5 states in the East

I think its only a mentally ill person that should expect things to be shared in the same percentage especially when those from the 5 states have made themselves an enemy of the North and their fellow southerners....

The north will always have the higher share.

Lets not even talk about what this 5states are
bringing to the national treasury....

Or should we talk about the fact that these 5states are less than some northern states in Land mass and that each northern state can still be broken into 3 additional state each?

You may argue that its not about landmass.

But you know the reality

The North has a higher percentage in the total number of states. If I was dealing with the Yorubas or, Ijaw who are actually known for having a higher IQ I would have expected these comments to tell us how the North with 19 states who actually contribute more to the National treasury and also feed most of the country is expected to get exactly what the SE with 5states get, but you are the set of people who dont even know their 123 which is why you a call everyone with a few thousands and a car a billionaire.
Even if we say we give 1 per state the SE wants to get 19 ministers because the North will get 19 ministers at 1minister per state.
I think its regional mental problem

This is yet another thing I forgot to mention...
This your foul mouth is the reason why even when you are qualified for a position you dont get it, but it think its insulting people upandan, bragging and making noise is a part of the Igbo cultural heritage anyways....

Anyone with a brain as small as that of a rat would know that when he has problems with everyone around him, from the south, to the north to the west, he most definitely is the major problem.....
Nobody hates the igbos, people just hate this your character

Why was he killed just 6months as head of state while Gowon was there for 9yrs? Why was Igboland divided in 1967 in a deleberate way to cut them from sea access after reneging on what was agreed at Aburi?

Since 1966?
As at 1966, the Head of State was igbo. How come you say they've been marginalised since 1966?

The first thing I checked was the author, and immediately I know exactly what to expect in the warped article. Thank goodness I am not disappointed! The earlier these people change their orientation the better. Watch out, they'll come for my head now 😜

Playing the victim card as has been played since the civil war will not take you anywhere. It will only worsen the situation.

While I agree that Nigeria should have carried out necessary rebuilding of the region, the disposition and utterances of certain leaders from that region have made it impossible.

Jonathan should have done it seamlessly! But the guy fidgeted when he had the power.

You are not far from the truth. I’m from the south south region. The igbos will always blame all their problems on the other parts of the country but will never look inward to check themselves and see where they are getting it wrong. The few people who tried to make them see where they are getting it wrong were seriously insulted by them.

Out of the names listed in the article I did not see one Edo name, not one ijaw name nor Idoma, Calabar, Gbagyi, Urhobo, Itsekiri etc.

PhD holder even mentioned some Igbo names were included in those given appointments, but still went ahead to wail Igbos are being marginalised. What about other ethnic groups who had none?

Igbos were handed the senate position in 1999 and they messed it up with greed and inexperience.

Also the civil war was unnecessary. The Igbo coup is the main brainer to the civil war. Although a lot of people will say it wasn't an Igbo coup but every region lost their leaders except Igbo.

Igbos are unorganised, tactless, disobedient and highly greedy and loud and very materialistic.

Everything to them is commerce

Igbo people have positioned themselves to be marginalized just to play the victim card. It is not possible to marginalise an Igbo Man anywhere in the world except that the Igbo Man agrees to be marginalized; in this case just cause they want to dominate Nigeria.

You cant be marginalized in a country and still control / major stakeholder in trade and commerce in virtually every state of the country . This man na trouble maker lol. Is it only igbo land that people based in lagos become governors or legislators? Makinde, adeleke, abiodun in the south west are all lagos based , same with other states that are abuja and lagos based too

Shebi Tinubu has appointed many Yorubas but majority of our people are still hungry and dying in rice/giveaway stampedes. So wetin be the gain gan gan?
So because a private individual faught hard to build his estate HIMSELF, he shouldn't complain if the govt shares infrastructure to every one else but skips him intentionally? How does Igbos controlling trade negate the fact that the govt intentionally refuses to establish GOVT AGENCIES in Igboland or appoint Igbo men?

After the Civil War, Nigeria owes Southeast the needed reconstruction. , everything that was standing was bombed to oblivion. If there is talk of rebuilding Gaza, then Southeast was leveled beyond recognition far worse than Gaza.

Rebuilding Southeast is not asking too much.

So you think the government did not rebuild south east after the war? Abi you dey hide for under stone? You don't have Internet to check the privileges given after the war?

This victim mentality won't stop anything it will only worsen thing for igbos.
You people should concentrate on getting a leader to become president by convincing others to and hold your governors responsible.

Igbos are marginalized in Nigeria. But the question is, are other tribes better off? Poverty is the reoccurring index among all regions in Nigeria. Generally, resources are scarce and there is lack of equity and ability in the distribution of these resources.
Every successive istration tends to follow the same pattern in distribution of resources.

First politicians at the federal level serve selves, then their federal political allies, followed by their own tribes and then whatever is left would be opened for state politicians and their allies, then the masses are left out. It’s trickle down set up, created to only favor the political class and their associate.

Not only the Igbos are being marginalized in Nigeria. Other minority groups are not better off, the rural communities are suffering, ordinary Nigerians from every tribe are feeling the same way.
The root of the problem is multifaceted. corruption and poor leadership being at the top. Secondly, Nigeria is not a rich country considering the per capital income. The last but not the least being the political structure.

Let’s take a look at infrastructure. For decades, all the federal roads that serve as gateway to the SE heartlands have been abandoned. The Enugu 9 miles. The Aba -Port Harcourt road, The Aba - Ikot Ekpne road. The Onitsha - OWERRI road. This in my opinion is deliberate marginalization with intentions to create a blockade.

The political structure. SE is the region with with 5 state . This is another deliberate and calculated way to reduce the number of elective representatives of SE at the uppers chambers.

Next is the marginalization in federal political appointments . The Igbos have the least among the 3 major ethnic groups in Nigeria. Well, it is often justified as the consequences of not aligning with ruling political parties

You made a valid point, but politicians from the SE often mislead us on marginalization using flawed indices. Political appointments shouldn't define marginalization, as they benefit only the appointee and a select few, not the wider community. Appointments are discretionary, typically rewarding political loyalty—if you don't a government, you can't expect to share its spoils.

True marginalization should be assessed broadly, impacting the majority, not just individuals. Infrastructure, for example, is a better measure. SE roads may be bad, but northern highways are even worse—I realized this firsthand on a recent road trip from Abuja to Niger Republic. The roads in Niger Republic are far better than Nigerian roads. Instead of fixating on appointments, the focus should be on governance and infrastructure to improve lives.

I don't like tribalism at all. We should all be treated as one under the law.

The leaders in Igbo land need to be flogged.
Okowa was all out against ceding presidency to the south. He teamed up with Atiku to stave off such opportunity not minding that Obi was also in the race.

Governor Soludo never said anything good about Obi. He heavily demarketed him thus robbing an illustrious son of the soil a lifetime opportunity.

Governor Rochas Okorocha was a northern lackey. Originally Uzor kalu did not fare any better. The common denominator among them all is self. No unity at all.

Bianca slapped the wife of a sitting governor to the iration of all.

With a people so fractioned how can a common front be presented to get what rightfully belong to you.

Call your leaders to order then fight in unision.

I look forward to having Obi as the president of this great nation soonest, meanwhile let us Tinubu to succeed.

Please ask our Igbo politicians they are our problem, some of them has been deceiving us but my God is his throne he will vindicate us at his own time.
This is the most honest and truthful comment I have so far seen on this thread. To corroborate your position; in 1998 an Igbo man (Alex Ekweme) was billed to become president of this country come 1999 as he alone satisfied by merit all the criteria put forward by the PDP national working committee for flag bearership of the party. But in the primaries IBB bulldozed the place with N5m per delegate towards influencing them to vote for Obasanjo the stooge and lackey of the North whom the Yorubas being said to be compensated for MKO's death would have themselves rejected in preference for Ekweme in the elections proper. Unfortunately the Igbo delegates collected the bribe from IBB and voted massively for Obasanjo against their own Ekweme who naturally stood a better chance and would have made a better president than Obasanjo. But ironically enough the same Igbos till today keep defending their choice of Obasanjo over Ekweme while complaining of being denied presidency and alleging it to be in conspiracy against Igbo race.
In addition, when Ogbulafor, as National PDP Chairman and as an Igbo man, took a principled and honest stand against the ambition of Jonathan on the ground that a Northerner should be allowed to complete the remaining 5½ years of Yaradua in defense of the PDP zoning arrangement so that it would be the turn of Igbos when that Northerner would be leaving office, it was mostly Igbos (not even Jonathan's own South South kinsmen) that insulted Ogbulafor and applauded Jonathan for going to dig out a phantom corruption allegation to charge Ogbulafor to court and get him removed as PDP national chairman so as to quieten him.
The truth is that Igbos have always taken self destructive decisions for the benefits of the North, SS and SW all for very ephemeral pecuniary gains only to turn around and allege being marginalized by these very other regions. How masochistic and self destructive a people could be?
