Why? Thank for asking..

Edit: pls this is just me trying to narrate my experience. This post is in no way saying abroad isn’t heaven as we were made to believe. In fa fact, it is…and you should japa if u can. I’m just trying to use this post to thank God, pls don’t curse me as I’m not discouraging u from japa

Two years ago, I came back to Nigeria after a long while in for some reasons. I couldn’t extend my stay and the aduro didn’t work out for me so I had to leave.

However, anytime I enter this website I always feel like a failure with the myriad of things Nairalander used to say about “if you’re not in the abroad, u can never be successful in life” and I was living in panick. everyday you see things like

“Ohh my God, nobody in Nigeria can make it. You need to sell ur soul, sell ur house and japa to UK, Canada or USA” “ if you can’t travel abroad, it’s better to kill urself because that’s the end of the road for u” mosquitos will kill u if u come to Nigeria” “caterpillar will fall on ur head and u will die for merely stepping a foot in Nigeria””ohh my God, I just saw a director in first bank who sold his 28 storey building, 50 cars , 23 kidney to relocate him and his family to Canada and it’s worth it”

Everyday, people here make it look like I’ll die by merely breathing in Nigeria. However, I was the stoopid ones because my experience since I came to Nigeria negate all the stuffs being discussed here.

What did I do? I left the site for a while and go work on myself. I believe that while it’s true that 97% of Nigerians can never be successful except they japa, I still believe that that’s not my own story. My destiny is in my hand. So I polished my tech skills, enter up work and started freelancing and earning in dollars. It’s been month and I give glory to God.

Well, true. Insecurity is a serious thing in Nigeria. For instance, over 300 millions Nigerians have been killed due to insecurity just last month alone. Another 400 million Nigerians have died to kidnapping. Issues like this doesn’t happen abroad because God isn’t capable of killing people over there as they have a perfect system.

I figure the “out of sight out of mind “ stuff is actually true. To move on, and regain ur sanity, one of the first thing to do is to move away from things causing u pain.

What are you smoking bro.

I envy people who are in Nigeria. Around December, I once had a dream I was in a club in Lagos, enjoying myself and wondering how I got there, the weather was so cool and I was so happy to be in Nigeria.

"Daddy" "Daddy", It was my daughter coming to wake me up, I looked outside, It was frozen and -25degree, I shook my head.

I was so angry for being woken up to snow, cold and gloominess.
