Senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has said the establishment of five Liquefied Natural Gas plants in Ajaokuta, Kogi Central Senatorial District would promote cleaner energy alternatives and reduce carbon emissions.

She said the development demonstrates the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited’s commitment to implementing sustainable energy policies.

In a statement she issued and made available to journalists in Abuja on Friday, the female lawmaker commended the Federal Government and the NNPCL, stressing that this wasn’t only a milestone, but it also aligned with the global best practices.

You are right! But I think the right word is Ìjà Òkúta-stone fight- which is related to Sàngó. Don’t forget Sango’s mother is from Tapa and he lived there as a child before becoming a King at Oyo Ile which was at the boundary of River Niger. Finally, Sango fights with stones (Edun Ara) til date. Does that not tel us something?

It's not a Yoruba name, it is rather
an Ebira name.
In the olden days, our forefathers who were hunters usually see birds called Aja in Ebira language. I don't the name in English, but let me try and describe it.
This particular bird usual flies in the night and usually on the road where people are ing. When it sees humans walking on the road, it would fly ahead and perch on the road waiting for them to move closer before it flies again. You can relate if you lived in the farm before.

Now back to the story. Our forefather usually see this bird Aja perching on the rock, and we call rock Ida and we call to perch "OOku". So, Ajaokuta means the bird Aja perchs on the rock.
That was how Ajaokuta was named.
I hope this helps.
super brilliant insights and thanks for the education 🙏

Lies.

Ajaokuta belongs to igalaland. It means stone-market.
Aja (matket), okuta (stone).

That it was zoned to kogi central doesn't make it an Ebiraland.

Go and learn history.
Lie from the pit of hell, the explanations made previously about naming the town after the nocturnal night bird perching on rock is self elucidating and make perfect sense, your argument is hogwash because it has never been any historical records of market where stones are sold🤔😌, igala people and wayo na 5&6

Guys,
Please research well.

This is sounding like LPG (Cooking gas) plant which can be miniaturized.
LNG is a massive plant and is always made for sea export because its cost is huge and its price is higher, and it’s difficult to handle and has to be made in millions of tons to be commercially profitable. So a Mini LNG plant is a lie.

There is no commercially producing oil and gas well in Kogi state and so if gas is going to be used, it has to be piped in from somewhere else certainly Niger Delta, like the one used in Ajaokuta steel. Therefore Akoji is not yet there as an oil and gas producing state.

This write-up is filed with political jargon and no technical meat and if you are in the oil and gas industry, you will see it clearly.

So don’t rejoice yet.

It sounds like dog of the stone in yoruba, maybe there is a stone that looks like a dog around the area lol ...just kiding....it sounds like yoruba word doesn't really means is a Yoruba word coz some ethic groups in Nigeria share common words and also bear same name.

This generation hates TRUTH and loves falsehood that's why Yahoo, Yahoo plus, hookup and general prostitution is common.

Ajaokuta as I explained before is a compound word in Yoruba which comprises of ÀjÀ - I put the accent on it as it is pronounced (do do) in Yoruba which is an exclusive reserved place or a large settlement. Only a fool we call Áj pronounced in Yoruba as (re mi) which is dog the same as ÀjÀ (do do) the same thing. Even the Ebira people especially the Ihima people with great affinity to Yoruba language knows they are not the same.

Okuta means STONES in its singular or simple form. Ajaokuta means large settlement of rocks in Yoruba.

The falsehood generation believes Aja bird in their Language, OKUU to Perch and Stone which is IDA in their Language means AJA-OKUU-IDA is the same as AJA-OKUTA.

The name is a Yoruba language the ancient Ebira people have many common languages with Yoruba

If you are abreast with happenings in the state, you would that there was a supreme Court judgment that was delivered in favour of the Attah Igala regarding the ownership of places like Ajaokuta and Lokoja.

Stop twisting history.

I wonder how the igalas would even lay claim to a place they had to cross river Niger to settle. Topography does not lie. No judgement was ed in favour of the igalas over ajaokuta, it was in favour of Kogi Central(Ebiras). Stop misleading the public or go ask some questions before spreading lies.

Water is not necessarily the delimiting factor that marks the territory of a particular ethnic group.

Concerning the judgement ask around and you will discover there was actually a judgement like that.

Attah Igala gave Lokoja to Lugard. This was affirmed in that Supreme Court judgement with document to prove that

I made reference to the Supreme Court judgment about three years ago that states that Ajaokuta up to Lokoja belongs to the Igala Kingdom.

In case you don't know about this do a quick search online.

Concerning the Wikipedia reference I simply stated that that was not enough evidence due to the nature of the platform - anyone can go in and put anything there.

Cheers.

This is 2025, and I think you should be drop a link to the judgement.

BTW, I was talking how Ajaokuta was named, but here you're talking about the Supreme Court judgment on how ajaokuta belongs to the Igala kingdom.
You Igala people have been pushing this for so long, but it's quite interesting, and I'd like to know you guys planned to cross over river Niger to come and claim ownership of Ajaokuta steel company.
If that Itobe bridge or river Niger bridge is cut, how are you guys going to cross over? By canoe or boat, I think. 😁
