After more than a year of using Starlink, I can confidently say it has been a series of frustrating experiences. I originally purchased Starlink because I’m ionate about playing FIFA and wanted to take my skills to the next level by competing online.

I hoped that facing better players would help me improve and potentially monetize my gameplay in the future. However, buying Starlink has turned out to be a major regret.

The network’s lag and inconsistency are so bad that I can’t even finish a full match without the server awarding the win to my opponent due to connection issues. In comparison, MTN, on its good days, is far superior for online gaming because of its low latency.

Starlink, on the other hand, is incredibly unstable, with unpredictable speeds and very high ping, making it completely unsuitable for games that require quick responses.

Now, the only use I’ve found for Starlink is letting my kids stream YouTube on it. With their recent price increase, I’ve had enough—I’m ready to move on from this service.

Why will you just come online and try to tarnish a company's image because of "YOUR" experience which might be as a result of your location?
Do you know that you can be charged for defamation?

Fyi, I use Starlink and it doesn't fail me. Thanks.

Before you say anything about defamation, have you tried gaming with Starlink?

BTW, it's not from location, I do get speed of 200-400mbps with my Asus AX86 Pro (300$) which I specifically bought for gaming but it's still horrible. Starlink is only good for streaming. End of discussion.

Try playing Seasons on FIFA or Ultimate Team and see if you wouldn't reword your comment. A question you should ask yourself is why is Starlink with variedly incosistent speed. It will hit 300mbps just now and when you refresh in 0.5 seconds you get 15mbps and then hit up again, and down. Such abrupt fluctuation is only good for and streaming. Bro, I have tested this thoroughly!!!

I do understand you and I get the point you are trying to make......but if a survey is done with respect to this your issue, I can proudly say that the chance of people for you will be below 30% because it is not a general occurrence.

But still, I understand you and I don't mean to talk down on your negative experience with them.

My Asus has a very good range but the range you are looking at can only be achieved with meshing. Some routers has the feature. To achieve that, try meshing three routers together and you could even get more than 800 meters in range.

The solutions to your problem are japa or pay for more bandwidth with an ISP. For many people, Starlink meets their needs. What else do regular folks use internet for past ing, online gaming and streaming? Businesses do video conference calls. I hear Starlink is unreliable for that. Another thing the service fails in is ing data.

No, it's not. Starlink is the fastest right now. Better than mangonet.

Mangonet is okay too, but starlink is the best.

Japa was another option for me back then, but how can I japa as a single Dad of two boys 5, 3. Not handy for me because I don't fancy the idea of seperating with them . If I could get more bandwidth with faster network and low latency, I think that would do but the question is: Can our ISP provide that effectively?

I think this is a case of different strokes for different folks. Starlink serves your purpose of use but it fails woefully at mine. It promises high speed internet with low latency but when I put it to the test, I find that it is a scam even with my high speed gaming router.

As at 2012, Hyperia was the closest I experienced to global broadband speeds. The person I video called frequently worked in their office so the connection was the highest grade available. Thirteen years later, I have no idea. You have to ask around. MTN is good, though. Ask if they have a service.

Satellite based internet has high latency , it is not ideal for gaming.

You need a fibre based broadband.

I found this to be true. Would you recommend any?

Starlink isn't for online gaming very true
I play PUBG a lot with it and 135-185ms isn't healthy
I only win 1 in every 40 games using PS5 slim
I'm not sure if the Ethernet adapter option will help improve latency but I'm dropping starlink soon anyways

To tell you how ready I was, I ordered the ethernet adapter when ordering my Starlink kit. I was prepared, so you can imagine my dissapointment. I even got a gaming router which landed before more than a week before the Starlink grin

Thanks guys for letting me know that Starlink cannot meet my gaming needs as it's a satellite network. So, I made my research about Fiber optics and found that there are some few in my city and not as costly as Starlink and also not disrupted by weather etc. If I had known of these options, I woudn't even touch Starlink!! I will explore more and probably made a thread about the Fiber optics upon installation so that others can learn.
