I understand why people take the route of care jobs — it's often easier, and I’m not against that. However, my concern is that simply following the crowd or opting for the easiest option shouldn't be the default approach. For example, I know people in the UK who were sponsored in IT and Marketing — not just internally, but even directly from Nigeria — without any prior UK experience. Example 1: A friend completed his MSc Chemistry in , then returned to Nigeria after two years of unsuccessful job hunting. He later moved to the UK on a student visa for another MSc in Chemistry. Despite the pressure, he refused to take up a care job. After some persistence, he eventually landed a position at Siemens Healthcare. Example 2: Another friend completed his MSc, rejected the care job sponsorship, and instead earned a PhD scholarship in the USA during his post-study period in the UK. I could give you many more examples from my own experience, but the point is, I’m not against care jobs. What I’m advocating for is professionalism. For instance, if you’ve been working as an engineer or in IT for several years, and you move to the UK to study an MSc in IT, it doesn’t make sense to abandon your expertise and settle for a care job just for sponsorship. You and I are capable of much more, and we should always aim higher. Goodluck!!! They went into care because of sponsorship after msc ,how many people have you seen that collected sponsorship in IT after msc ? [/quote] |

DosaGl: Many opted for the care sponsorship as their "a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush" to give them the realistic opportunity to remain in the UK while hoping to find their way back to their previous fields in the future as it is risky to put one's eggs in one basket. I also know some who are from the set of Masters students who came to the UK in 2021, their post study work visas will be expiring late January and early February, with no certificate of sponsorship from care jobs nor certificate of sponsorship from "professiona"l jobs and returning back to Nigeria in the coming weeks with their families, is a reality. A good number of them I know, did have opportunity to get care sponsorship FOR FREE in the early days when COS became a thing in early part of 2022, as lot of local agencies in the UK was hustling international students to take the care COS, I received emails back then before it became big business of selling COS. We can't discount those who eventually got COS in their desired field, some had to "swallow their pride" and pay for care COS, while some who didn't japa to another Country, will now be heading back to Nigeria or remain in the UK as an overstayer. Never put all your eggs in one basket, hold on to something. 7 Likes 2 Shares |

Oh yes, you are not wrong with your information so far I also know but, my point of emphasis is on my last paragraph. I emphasised about care jobs becoming the default choice and a personal journey of persistence and career development. It also keeps my message motivational, encouraging us to aim for more. However, the reality is that many people have been misled or even scammed by this care job route. It has become a trap for some, where the promise of staying in the UK ends up taking them further away from their original dreams and aspirations. Far too many have abandoned their true goals in the hope of simply staying afloat. Mindlog: |

DosaGl: That "staying afloat" is the immediate concern because the opposite doesn’t look good here in the UK. It is then left for individuals on Care COS to continually invest in their personal development , no matter how little, bit by bit, so that they will not in the next 5 years from now, still hustling for care job shifts. If anyone must still come to the UK through the study route, they should intentionally go for courses that would give them a higher chance in the UK job market, not wasting thousands of pounds on nice sounding courses but actually won't give them a chance of getting visa sponsored in that field. 3 Likes 1 Share |

Right! Your last paragraph truly captures the essence of everything we've discussed so far. To add to that, while many might attribute success to "luck," I believe the real key is graduating with strong grades—preferably with distinction. From my own experience, this has been one of the biggest advantages. I understand that it's not always easy, especially considering the challenges of integration and adapting to a different educational system, but many people are still managing to make it happen despite these hurdles. I really want everyone to be successful and have a better life. The only thing that hurts me is my inability to help the world achieve this- I WISH!!! Mindlog: |

rokana:They’ll check and use the rate as at the date you submitted your application. But I think most schools usually tell their applicants to allow £200 as fluctuations fee extra over their POF. But it’s not advisable to perform transactions on bank when it is close to when you want to use your POF especially when the allowance is soo small, as it is now, it’s a probability you might get nsf and to explain/submit additional evidence of funds |
