The deductions are far more than the net pay . Why is this so.
I hope this is not what FIRS is planning for Nigeria

We need the breakdown of the total deduction...anyway if you convert it to naira then you still have over 120k left, but if you have just amala lunch out of it daily then I doubt you will be able to afford rent.

He needs to explain the deductions...

Unfortunately many will not ask for the explanation you asked for, and will just ignorantly believe this without bothering to know the circumstance, which might be because this is this person's second job and the tax is based on their total taxable income from all their jobs.

The simple question is what the deductions were on.

Cos even if this was in the highest tax treshold for someone earning super bucks (which this person is not close to), the deductions would still be much lower.

The payslip owner who is earning £21/hr is not a high earner. That person should cumulatively pay circa 20% of income in tax (both income and national insurance)

Exactly. People just love writing rubbish and peddling fake news because they know most folks don't like to read today. Highest tax band in the UK is 45%. How then is this guy paying over 100% from his earnings towards tax?

That's the sad reality in UK. They tax virtually everything. At the end of the month you can bearly save anything.

I know you're sitting in one dingy room in Ajegunle typing this. What that person wrote up there is very correct.

The deductions are significantly higher than the net pay. Why is this the case? I hope this isn't what FIRS has in store for Nigeria.

No it isn't. If it were true, no one will come here, and we would not have anything left to send to our relatives back home.

Do some work to educate yourself instead of ignorantly swallowing junk.

Always u earn in pounds and you spend in pounds
You earn in dollars and you spend in dollars
You can't earn in pounds and spend in naira
Except you want to earn in pounds spend like a pauper and save in naira.
