Sudan have defied the nation's civil war to qualify for next year’s Africa Cup of Nations with a 0-0 draw on Monday with Angola. Sudan have been forced to stage their home ties on neutral turf while the country's domestic league has been suspended since the conflict started in April last year. The Falcons of Jediane needed just a point from their last two games in Group F, but fell to a 4-0 loss away against Niger on Thursday. However, they managed to secure second place after their stalemate against already-qualified Angola in Libya. Benin also booked their place at the finals but heavyweights Ghana, Nigeria and Tunisia suffered embarrassing home defeats on the penultimate day of preliminaries for the finals in Morocco. Benin were in a three-way tussle for second place in Group D with opponents Libya and Rwanda, who were away at already-qualified Nigeria. Benin saw off the threat of Libya with a stalemate in Tripoli and pipped Rwanda on their head-to-head record. Rwanda pulled off a shock 2-1 away win against Nigeria in Uyo, coming from behind to score twice in three minutes late on through Jimmy Mutsinzi and Innocent Nsuthi. Niger had only faint hopes of overhauling Sudan but kept up the pressure as they condemned Ghana to last place in the group with a shock 2-1 win in Accra. Ghana have already been eliminated after a horror campaign, ending a run of 10 successive tournament appearances. Tunisia had already qualified but were toppled from first place in Group A as the Gambia upset them with Abdoulie Ceesay scoring the winner in Tunis. AFCON 2025 qualified teams: Morocco (hosts), Algeria, Angola, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Comoros, DR Congo, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Mali, Senegal, South Africa, Sudan, Tunisia, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe.
