NWANNE AIR PEACE IS OUR OWN.

INSTEAD OF STARTING AIRLINE LIKE EBONYI AND ENUGU CLANS, WE SHOULD BE BUYING AIR PLANES TO ADD TO AIR PEACE FLEET FOR OPERATIONS FROM OUR AIRPORTS FREE UP HIS PLANES FOR OTHER LOCATIONS.

Good idea but NdiEnugu are not likely to buy into it..........the unnecessary rivalry among Igbo states is a discussion for another day! Suffice it to say we should all be working together!

I’m pleased Enugu state gov’t is making moves to start their own airline, but i agree with the position in your previous post that the state and other south-east states should have looked towards Air Peace in their aviation plans. I’ve always argued that we can achieve more as a cohesive unit planning regional economic development from one table and pulling in one direction rather than having a individualistic/statecentric approach to governance that means there’s less funds available for projects and less is achieved!

The problem is there’s no regional approach to development in the south-east, and all we’ve gotten thus far from focus-groups, talk-shops and regional summits is just a lot of hot air and dogo turenchi! Forget the new-kid-on-the-block, the SEDC, that one wouldn’t achieve anything substantial, mark my words (pardon the pun)! It will not be any different from OMPADEC, NDDC and others that came before it! And has anyone figured out where their funding will come from and what kind of numbers we’re talking about!?

Don’t believe the false narrative some are trying to drive on this forum…Ndigbo don’t hate ourselves! What’s happening is the evolving Nigerian geo-political configuration and structure over the past decades has watered down pan-Igbo zeal and sentiment, strongest in the pre-1966 era, which in turn has led to Igbo politicians/s having a state-centred approach to governance and development…they’re all working in silos! This is less noticeable or problematic for our entrepreneurs though! And as for our national politicians, political appointees and public servants ensconced in Abuja….forget those ones! Trying to figure out their own issues will take a professorial thesis!

Security, security, security.

All the roads in the world mean nothing without security.

Yesterday a unizik lecturer was gunned down 400m from the Secretariat and Police B Division. And Soludo is offering amnesty to criminals.

The governor better wake up and re establish army checkpoints on all major entry and exits into the major cities with rapid response specialized squads tracking and tackling kidnapping gangs. Anambra is not a massive state. The increasingly brazen behavior of criminals says that the security architecture is fundamentally broken.

Otherwise, like play like play do not be surprised if criminals target government commissioners.

as someone that lives in America, the fact that every nigerian who is shot makes the news will lead you to believe nigeria is not safe. There's no major state in America that does not report less than 1000 people gunned down a year. But nobody will ever say because people are being shot they should halt roads lol

America has statistics of gun violence of which 60% is suicide. Homicide is roughly 20,000 in a year. It is SIGNIFICANTLY more in Nigeria. From Fulani herdsmen to cultists to ritual killings to armed robbery. Nigeria has become increasingly violent and weapons proliferation is a serious problem. Statistics say that around 10,000 homicides happen in Nigeria per year but it's under reported.

Awka – Anambra State has recorded a remarkable increase in its monthly Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), rising from ₦2.2 billion to ₦5.2 billion within the past year—a growth of over 100%.

This was disclosed by Amara Oyeka, the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Chukwuma Soludo on IGR, during the presentation and validation of research conducted across 21 major markets in the state’s three senatorial zones.

The research is part of the Tax for Service Project, implemented by the Tax Justice and Governance Platform (TJ&GP) in collaboration with the Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC), with from Oxfam Nigeria.

Despite the growth, Oyeka noted significant obstacles in achieving this result. Many affluent citizens in the state evade taxes, while a substantial portion of collected revenue—estimated at over 50%—is diverted into private hands.

“We have a situation where revenue collectors are richer than the government,” Oyeka revealed. “Most of those tarnishing the government’s image are not even employed by us. While we work harder than other states, the system is plagued by numerous leakages. We are determined to address these issues.”

He emphasized the need for collaboration among stakeholders to sanitize the system and ensure that Anambra receives its rightful revenue share. “The higher the revenue, the greater the citizens’ power to demand public goods,” he added.

Ugochi Ehiahuruike, Executive Director of the Social and Integral Development Centre (SIDEC), which hosts the Tax Justice and Governance Platform in Anambra, highlighted the project’s goals.

“The Tax for Service Project is designed to bridge the gap between taxpayers and service providers, fostering transparency, ability, and trust in governance,” she explained. “This research provides a foundation for strategic interventions to improve tax compliance and public service outcomes.”

Dr. Greg Ezeilo, Chairman of the Anambra State Board of Internal Revenue Service (AiRS), represented by the Director of Taxes, Herbert Ofomata, lamented the disparity between the state’s economic potential and its revenue profile.

“The financial worth of markets in Anambra is immense, yet government revenue does not reflect this reality,” he said. “Markets are the oil wells of this state. From Onitsha to Awka, markets dominate, and we must leverage this resource to fund public services effectively.”

The state’s commitment to reforming its revenue collection system, coupled with partnerships with civil society and stakeholders, signals a determined effort to enhance transparency and ability while maximizing Anambra’s economic potential.

5.2b pcm is commendable, but Anambra can effortlessly do at least 15b pcm

Please go and compare notes with Enugu, as they seem to have got it right.

My brother, don’t stress too much about the lack of strategic foresight among the Igbo people. While the Igbo are undeniably blessed with industriousness, they often lack the strategic acumen needed to safeguard wealth and ensure its continuity across generations. This has always been our greatest weakness.

This shortcoming didn’t start today. For example, General Ironsi was advised against relying on northerners for his personal security and placing them in sensitive command positions. However, he dismissed the warnings, arguing—like a typical Igbo person overly confident in their reasoning—that since Nzeogwu and others led the first coup, the northerners could not plot coups and would never stage one against him. Tragically, his blind and reckless decisions not only led to his downfall but also ensured that the Igbo would lose access to power, eventually contributing to the civil war.

So, don’t worry about the short-sightedness of some Igbos who fail to grasp the bigger strategic picture. It seems inherent to work hard and succeed temporarily but to fall short in building the long-term prosperity that comes from strategic thinking. It's also exactly the same reason that SE governors cannot come together to build a railway system (Even if it's a light railsystem for transportation and light goods) connecting the major cities and airports in the region to the Onne Port to enhance the economic viability of the entire zone.

Instead, the SE governors oppose eachother and merely think that by just tarring or dualizing a road from one village to the other they will overcome the huge economic disadvantages imposed by Nigeria on the zone by denying them good federal roads, seaports and intl. airport. The gross lack of strategic reasoning among Igbos who cannot see that we MUST work together to achieve the greater future tly is our greatest downfall

Anambra is top 5 in VAT earnings in Nigeria, and top 5 in this list represents the most developed states in Nigeria. Switch Anambra with any other SE, then watch the ediotic hawks invade here to lecture us endlessly. See the gap Anambra gave other SE states. Right now, no one is talking about it.

Anambra is not planning to launch any airline but upgrading the airport to receive night flight instead.
Anambra already have Airpeace, UN airlin, and other executive/private jet companies like Nestav... Who are serving the state very well. Please Get your fact right.

A Happy 2025 to us all.........2024 was not perfect but 2025 will be better! 2024 was a mixed bag for Ndigbo but the performance of a select southeast governors gave us some hope for the future ! I do not want to start the year with news of gloom and doom but Ndigbo and our governors must become very strategic in of what our ultimate socioeconomic and political goals are............after all the roads and bridges have been built ...WHAT NEXT ?

Kindly watch with care and an open mind!!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YKht6qk-b38&t=6s

I am looking at all this from a purely economic benefit point of view! A functional seaport in the east will grow the economy by at least 5% ..........reducing inflation all the way! I find it difficult to understand the way the minds of black Africans work especially Nigerians.

It is like our southeast politicians are suffering massive post civil war PTSD........our politicians are traumatized, they cannot even begin to meet to complain about these systemic gaps in infrastructure in the east!
