JUST IN: Governor @PNMbah has flagged off dualization of 43.7km Penoks - Abakpa - Ugwogo Nike- Opi-Nsukka Road … Mbah is godsent to Nsukka zone - Igwe Asadu … You’ve proven yourself more Nsukka than any Nsukka man - Ezenta Ezeani … Enugu has suddenly become a reference point for transformational projects – Dennis Agbo Governor Peter Mbah today flagged-off the construction and dualisation of the 43.7km Penoks-Abakpa Nike-Ugwogo-Nike-Opi Nsukka Road with streetlights and 18-month completion timeframe in line with his istration’s vision to make the state the premier destination for investment, business, tourism, and living. Speaking during the flag-off ceremony at Opi attended by political heavy weights and leaders of Nsukka Zone, Mbah stressed that the the project, which includes straightening the of many bends, would drastically reduce accidents and criminality on the road. “In the build-up to the election and in my acceptance speech after my election, we made a pledge that we are going to dualise the Penoks - Abakpa-Ugwogo Nike - Opi-Nsukka Road because . we realised from the outset that if we had to grow this economy to an exponential height, no section of this state should be left behind, more so an economic hub like Nsukka Zone. So, all we are doing here today is connecting those dots,” he said. Mbah regretted that a trip from Enugu to Nsukka presently takes over an hour, hence the decision to do the 3.6km from the Penoks Junction all the way to the T-Junction flyover in addition to the 41km Abakpa Nike-Opi Nsukka Road to reduice travel time to about 30 minutes and make it possible for the people to comfortably live and work in Enugu and vice versa. He also noted that his istration’s grassroot-based development and economic model placed the Enugu North Zone at an advantage. “We are doing projects based on electoral wards. Guess who are the greatest beneficiaries of this model? It is the Nsukka zone. You have 102 electoral wards. That means you will end up with 102 smart schools, 102 Type 2 Primary Healthcare Centres, over 1,000km of roads based since we are additionally going to do at least 10km of roads per ward,” he remarked. In his remark, the traditional ruler of Edem-Ani and Chairman, Enugu State Traditional Rulers Council, Igwe Samuel Asadu, said, “The people of Nsukka cultural zone and Enugu North Senatorial District never imagined the possibility of this life-time project. The only way we can pay you back is that you do not need to come to campaign here for your second tenure because we are all going to do that for you. You are Godsent to the people of Nsukka, Enugu State and Nigeria at large.” Also speaking, the Deputy Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Hon. Ezeani Ezenta, noted that the governor had shut the mouths of naysayers. “I feel emotional because a lot of things were said during the election. But today, by your good work, you have proved yourself even more Nsukka than any other Nsukka man,” he emphasised. On his part, former Deputy Governor of Enugu State, Chief Okechukwu Itanyi, described the project as “gigantic, huge, unbelievable and marvelous,” noting that it would open Nsukka Zone and the state to the world. “This is a legacy project. Your name will never die. Your spirit shall never die. We will continue to give you ,” he added. Other speakers, including the Chairman of Nsukka Nsukka LGA, Hon. Jude Asogwa, former Secretaries to the State Government, Dr. Dan Shere and Prof. Simon Ortuanya, among others extolled the initiative. Significantly, in a press statement he personally issued on Monday, Member representing Igboeze North/Udenu Federal Constituency on the platform of the Labour Party, Hon. Dennis Agbo, described the road as “a transformational project, which will greatly facilitate commerce, ease mass transit and evacuation of farm produce by our hard working farmers as well as fight crime and criminality.“ 1 Like |

It's annoying that up till now the Buhari and now Tinubu gov'ts are ignoring completing the new int'l terminal at AIIA, Enugu! Completing that terminal and adding more int'l routes to serve the airport would have added value to the Enugu economy in particular and South-East economy in general, but i'm not holding my breath! The planned Enugu Air is a good initiative, but it should be managed free from state gov't interference...a bit like how Ibom Air is being run! 8 Likes |

Enugu state gov't about completing the long abandoned Int'l Conference Centre (ICC) in Enugu. They're presently rounding up with the landscaping and other finishing touches. A 5-star hotel is also being built besides the ICC by CCCC and can be seen in the clip at 0.05 minutes. Also, from about 0.30 minutes you can see Hotel Presidential to the top left of the screen in the far distance....it's equally being refurbished and brought back to life, and is expected to be reopened soon! IGBOPROMISE1: Dr. Peter Mbah stands out as one of the most progressive and visionary governors in Nigeria today. His determination to transform Enugu into a world-class city is unmatched, setting a high standard for leadership and development. Unlike many Nigerian governors who often make lofty promises without follow-through, Dr. Mbah is quietly achieving results through deliberate and impactful action. One of his remarkable initiatives is his effort to position Enugu as the true conference capital of Africa—not just through rhetoric, but by establishing high-quality international hotels and state-of-the-art conference centers. Beyond this, he is revitalizing the tourism sector by creating vibrant attractions and recreational hubs that make Enugu an appealing destination for visitors. To enhance accessibility for both local and international tourists, Dr. Mbah has actively ed the modernization of Akanu Ibiam International Airport, ensuring it meets global standards. He has also gone a step further by launching "Enugu Air," the state’s airline. With the right technical partnerships, this airline could soon serve international routes directly from Enugu, making the state even more accessible to global travelers and boosting its economic potential. What sets Dr. Mbah apart is his commitment to delivering projects of the highest international quality, a refreshing departure from the substandard, poorly executed projects that have plagued many Nigerian states. His attention to detail and insistence on excellence are reshaping Enugu's infrastructure and laying the foundation for a modern, thriving city. I am deeply impressed by Dr. Mbah’s vision and relentless drive to midwife the birth of a truly world-class Enugu. His leadership gives hope for a brighter future, and I am excited to see how his transformative efforts continue to unfold. Enugu is indeed on the path to becoming a global city under his stewardship! 3 Likes |

OreMI22: I cannot agree more! I am from Nnewi, and I appreciate Soludo's effort as well. However, some of his projects are stymied by poor conception and even worse finishing. However, of late, Soludo has improved a lot! I believe it's all about surrounding yourself with people of equal, if not better, vision! Patrick Mbah is a vibe on his own........the man just has style!GBAM 8 Likes |

I would like to advise the Enugu State Government to consider Embraer 145 (E145) jets as the foundational aircraft for Enugu Air. These jets are renowned for their fuel efficiency and low maintenance costs, making them ideal for a startup airline. With a seating capacity of 50 engers, the E145 strikes the perfect balance between capacity and operational profitability, ensuring flights are less likely to be underbooked. The success of United Nigeria Airlines can be partly attributed to their strategic decision to enter the market with Embraer 145 jets. These aircraft are well-suited for short to medium-haul routes, allowing airlines to maximize efficiency while keeping costs low. Additionally, the compact size of the E145 makes it easier to access smaller airports, further expanding route options and connectivity. At this stage, it would be unwise for Enugu Air to invest in larger aircraft like Boeing or Airbus, which are not only significantly more expensive to operate but also require a larger customer base to break even. Starting with the E145 jets will allow Enugu Air to establish itself, build a loyal client base, and grow sustainably before scaling operations to accommodate larger aircraft. This pragmatic approach will set Enugu Air on the path to long-term success. 7 Likes 1 Share |

OreMI22:.I think one of the aims of floating an airline by the state government is to breech the gap on international route that has been left for only Ethiopian air which operates twice weekly. Enugu air on short or medium term want to get approval for international flight which the aircraft you mentioned is not suitable for 4 Likes |

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OVFtBRHvd-4?si=nEfofaiVJ8K8zELt Interesting size comparison of giant bodies in our solar system. Just to give some perspective of exactly what we're dealing with, the comparison starts off with a enger jet and the Burj-Khalifa. The first natural body shown is the Tunguska event meteor that arrived in 1908 in Russia. Though smaller than the Burj-Khalifa, the meteor screamed towards earth from outer space at a speed aproximating 60,000 mph and exploded mid air in a air-burst that flattened a forest as shown in 1st attached pic, and was responsible for the deaths of at least three people. The second natural body shown in the video after the Tunguska meteor is the Chicxulub asteroid that arrived about 66 million years ago and to which we owe a debt of gratitude for helping wipe out the Dinosaurs, thereby enabling smaller mammals to thrive which eventually evolved into you and i. It's impact crater is under the Yucatan Peninsular in the sea off Mexico. It was larger than Mt Everest and its impact was equal to the explosion of TEN BILLION ATOMIC BOMBS set off at once! ![]() The solar system bodies shown grow larger as the video progresses and ends with the Sun. The next biggest body before the sun is Jupiter, which though smaller, is still massive enough to impact the Sun and other planets in the solar system. Some might be wondering what's the nexus between these massive planetery bodies and us chilling here on earth! The Dinosaurs asked the same question....look at them now! ![]() 1 Like |
