Pastor Folu Adeboye empowers 5,000 elderly in South Africa


Pastor Folu Adeboye, wife of the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has made significant strides in improving the lives of the elderly in South Africa.

Through her Heart of Love Foundation, she has empowered over 5,000 elderly, offering both spiritual and material .

Celebrating its 12th anniversary on 21 November 2024, the foundation has become a beacon of hope for many elderly people in the Alexandra community.

This was disclosed in a statement issued by the foundation and made available to PUNCH on Friday.

By organising monthly prayer meetings and distributing groceries, the foundation ensures that these individuals feel loved and ed.

Speaking at the anniversary event, Pastor (Mrs) Adeboye emphasised the importance of extending God’s love to the elderly. She recounted her inspiration, saying:

“The idea came to me when I visited the Nigerian Consulate General in South Africa. I was deeply saddened by the plight of the elderly, many of whom were dying due to neglect and poverty. I felt a divine call to help them.”


The Coordinator of the Heart of Love Foundation, Pastor Tunde Obokhai, highlighted its achievements in fostering financial independence, spiritual growth, and renewed purpose among the elderly.
He said:

“We have empowered over 5,000 individuals through various initiatives, including skill acquisition programmes and material aid. The foundation has also played a crucial role in building a sense of community among the elderly by organising regular gatherings and activities, which provide opportunities for social interaction and emotional .

“The impact of the Heart of Love Foundation has been profound. Many elderly individuals have shared testimonies of gratitude, describing how the they received has helped them overcome challenges, improve their health, and live with dignity.”

As the foundation continues to expand its reach, it remains committed to its mission of empowering the elderly and making a positive difference in their lives.
