The fundamental issue with nigeria is this We are a Country that wants to be a Nation so bad... We really not a nation can't be a nation You can't run a country like a nation and expect it to succeed never For peace to reign we must restructure along ethnic lines or separate it's not rocket science There is no country on earth like Nigeria that practice our system that have worked 3 nearly equal majority, even two are not possible then plus over 300 minority and u practice unitary system? Never happened The formation is usually 1 super majority 60% of population minimum and couple of minority 8 Likes 1 Share |

mrvitalis:While equity and justice are crucial for social cohesion, they don't necessarily guarantee loyalty. Loyalty is a complex trait influenced by various factors, including shared values, cultural identity and personal experience. Example is Europe, its commitment to equity and justice hasn't immunized it against Islamist fighting against everything it stands for tooth and nail and trying to establish caliphate in Europe, even as the continent strives for equity and justice. 1 Like |

malali:That’s our major leadership problem till today. USA has their own form of government, Britain has a different style, has a different style, Russia also has a different one all working for them, but Africa, we will drop our own style, and blindly follow that of the west, ending up with no direction. Till today, I don’t think most sub Saharan countries have truly gotten their independence. Everything we do, was handed down to us. 5 Likes 1 Share |

Because Nigeria was just a creation of the British people. But nobody created our ethnic groups. We were forced to be Nigerians. I am first a YORUBA MAN before being Nigerian. It's a natural thing. 8 Likes 1 Share |

TouchNfollow: Mumu person that caused all the challenges happening to Nigerians. Are you not being biased in your six-years term as a president, putting your ethnic group as priority but sidelining the Yorubas and other minor ethnic groups. It is when clown like this leave power their brains wake up. 9 Likes 2 Shares |

Even in your ethic group, there is division. The Oyo/Ibadan believes they are d original Yoruba, the Ega/Ijebu feel they are d enlightened while d Ekitis which are generally believed by these previous two to be very local and uninformed think they are d most educated. When Ekiti man speak Yoruba in front of Ibadan man, he'll seems like lol I rather stick to one Nigeria. 2 Likes |

More reason we need to operate as confederation. God will punish Agunyi Ironsi and his cohort for forcing us into unitary system of government. Awolowo proposed future break out in case we don't work, unfortunately Nnamdi Azikwe mobilized North against it. God will punish all of them that force Nigeria on us 6 Likes 1 Share |

seguntijan: If Major General Johnson Aguiyi-Ironsi had not abolished regionalism and resource control on May 24, 1966, with his Decree Number 34, the Western Region of Nigeria would have been better than Dubai today. That act set back Nigeria perhaps 100 years backwards, and we have not recovered from it until today. Even with Awolowo in prison since 1963, the Western Region was on automatic pilot and still outperformed every other region by 1966, when Ironsi ended regionalism, because of his policies, especially his Universal Free Primary Education, which was compulsory and non-discriminatory. It included free school feeding to all children in the Western Region, no matter where their parents came from. The Awolowo Western Region government introduced university scholarships that were higher in award amount than the federal scholarships. Awolowo's scholarship not only paid your school fees, whether in Nigeria or abroad, but your parents were paid a stipend during the pendency of your scholarship. Long before Barack Obama achieved the Affordable Care Act (ACA), on March 23, 2010, Chief Awolowo had universal health coverage in the Western Region of Nigeria for every child and persons under eighteen, irrespective of whether or not their parents were from the Western Region. He did this by establishing at least one hospital in every istrative division in the Western Region. The Western Region also had the first television station in Africa, the Western Nigeria Television Service, to keep citizens informed, educated and entertained. Chief Awolowo established the Western Nigerian Development Corporation, which helped Westerners establish businesses and turned present-day Imeja into the most industrialised part of Nigeria to date. He set up the cooperative that ensured that as long as you were a farmer in the Western Region, the government would buy your produce as a last resort if you could not sell it. Explaining why he committed himself to these policies, Chief Awolowo, on September 3, 1959, said: "To educate the child is to lay the solid foundation for future social and economic progress: to provide health services is to combat diseases which are wasting on human resources and, therefore, reduce our productive potentialities. The Government has, for these reasons, brought about the greatest social revolution in the history of Black Africa." We really need to go back to this regional system of government, Nigeria can't work like this. May God bless the memory, offspring, and lineage of Papa Obafemi Awolowo, forever and ever. 10 Likes 2 Shares |

TouchNfollow: Very true, what the ex president has said. But I feel the idea of breaking down ethnic boundaries is myth. It has been and will always be. A child does not learn to be left handed at old age. The ethnic identities have become the default identities of the Nigerian peoples and must be strengthened over the false nationhood. The country doesn't have to divide to achieve this. They had been workable proposals like those of the CONFAB organized by Jonathan himself that has been thrown under the carpet. A true federation where the state have more powers over their own affairs compared to the centre is the only place from where the sense of nationhood he has proposed can be engendered. 2 Likes |

mannobi:Shared values and cultural identity are the strongest bonds on earth. Nothing can be done against our tribal allegiance in Nigeria. Even if dem introduce policies against our tribal allegiance, like eliminating state of origin, our natural affinity for our roots will never let those policies be fruitful. |

seguntijan:You're not adequately informed, Nnamdi Azikiwe was never against confederation,as a matter of fact, he ed the Aburi accord that wanted Nigeria to be a confederation. Igbos at that time wanted a separate country fully independent or a confederation. Confederation would have been better but now everything is too complicated. 2 Likes |
