No big deal to get a N10 million loan if your portfolio can give you a minimum of N5 million dividends and you have other sources of income

Reason why am asking is because I have both mutual fund with them and stock .

I studied especially Dangote. Whenever he talks about his businesses he will talk of the loans he took. I realized that what people like him have that many others don't is ability to creat, and run very well, businesses using theirs and other people's money. They create wealth for themselves and others. The trick is when you take the money can you make it work for you and the owners. If you can't, you will lose big because the money lenders create to protect themselves from losing.

It will largely depend on repayment plan. For traders who wan to pay back from trading with the funds, the risks are much higher. For someone who plans to liquidate with cash flow from independent sources, the risk is probably non-existent.

Even at that my total loan is usually between twice to thrice the previous years dividend, eg assuming I got a total dividend of N1 million in 2023, the total loan I will apply for is between N2 million and N3 million.

Since the loan will be invested in dividend paying stocks the following year's divided will increase to about N1.2 million to N1.3 million based on the additional shares purchased with the loan.

If some of the companies now increased their dividends in 2024 it possible to get a divided of N1.5 million.

The dividends and income from other sources will service the loan, capital appreciation is not certain and it is the least consideration but if it happens that will make things faster
