My 3 year old daughter, she would be 4 years old in Feb, is sharp and very bright.
It only happened occasionally that she would pee on herself. Usually when engrossed in cartoon.

However, it the last 4 weeks, it has become an everyday occurrence.
She would even poo on herself!

I've talked to her, yet no serious change.
I just had a baby boy few weeks ago. Could this be responsible for the change in my daughter? If yes, how best can it be handled? It's already affecting her in school.

How in the world would you having a baby few weeks ago be the reason behind your smart 3-year-old kid pissing and pooing herself everyday? Abeg, take your 3-year-old to go see a doctor immediately. undecided

Demonic influence!
What's happening to this kid is one of the consequences of feeding a child with cartoons. Some even start making strange sounds.

I expect agents of darkness to troop in to downplay the spiritual. They trap people with ignorance.

Maybe she's exhibiting signs of acute stress and anxiety disorder...Maybe as her new baby brother is here, she doesn't know where she fits in the family at all.

Exactly ! There could be so many medical or psychological reasons to this. undecided

Op, take the kid to see a doctor as soon as you possibly can. My first traumatic experience in life happened when I was just 3.5 years of age and that was the day before my kid brother was born. My life was devastated by that one experience and it wasn't until some time ago that those scars were finally resolved for me. The worst you can do is attempt to trivialize this or pretend it is of phantoms. undecided

She is too engrossed in the cartoon. Reduce the time spent on cartoon and at intervals make sure she visit the toilet to pee under your supervision.

The way and manner in which you tell lies with reckless abandon will shock even the devil himself. Hian?

You ed your first traumatic experience that happened when you were 3 and half years old? Say that to the braindead subhumans in your lineage. It's a big fat lie!

Dear OP, please don't listen to this lunat1c.

That your child needs some serious flogging because it's obvious that she has become too addicted to cartoons.

What nonsense psychological issue could a 3 year old be going through? Mtchew!

Yes, the new baby could be the reason why. Have patience. Don’t scold her. Ask her if she needs to pee every hour.

Maybe she needs more of your attention again and reassurance that she is loved. I know it’s hard with a new baby but it probably is even harder for her. She needs time, and patience to be able to adjust and find her place in the new setting.

One way of facilitating the process for her is to involve her. For example, when you guys change the babyβ€˜s diaper or she can cuddle with one of you and the baby next to you sleeping. Explain to her what the baby needs and why and that she was like this too. Tell her that she is the big sis now and be proud of her when she assists you guys. Make it a positive experience for her.

All the best!

So, because you have no memories from that time of your own life therefore no one else could have memories and trauma from as far back as 3 years of age? Is that conclusion not all the confirmation one needs of your apparent lowkey werey? πŸ€”

And what do you think talking is going to do?

Take her to a doctor.

Change the daily routine you have with her.

Once she's back from school, bond with her, don't just abandon her to cartoons. Ask her questions about her school, if you have a laptop or tab open educational videos for her to watch and ask her questions about it.

Let her have Dinner by 6pm, and bed by 7pm.

Continue this new routine for 2 weeks, if you don't notice any significant changes, take her to see a doctor.

Is the urinating on herself, only when she is watching cartons? Does she do same at school?

As long as urinary tract infection is ruled out as the cause of her day time wetting, then you can adopt a behavioural strategy for her.

Get her to be using the toilet frequently whether she is pressed or not, same as at school, as it would help her be more aware of her body signals.

Read up on: Voiding dysfunction and daytime wetting in Children as it would help you become more aware of what your daughter is struggling with.

This is when you need to show her love.. talk to her gently, she will tell you what is happening.. are you sure somebody is not abusing her in school?

Also reduce the cartoon to max of 1 hour per day if you can

There's nothing wrong with her. Attention has been shifted away from her and she wants it back badly. She will soon adapt to her new status of the big sister and you will see the changes. Tell her to go and wee every now and then and at night take her to the rest room not more than two hours after she goes to bed

Yes. Toddlers do experience regression when there’s big change in the family like a move, a new child is in the family or something equally big.

You have to retrain her. Talking won’t fix it.

Someone mentioned possible UTI or potential abuse. They’re not wrong.

Which therapy did you use to resolve it? EMDR?

She wants to be the baby of the house once again.

She feels abandoned and that her baby brother has taken up all the attention.

Teach her that she is not a baby but a big sister and let her participate in taking care of her little brother who can not help himself but she can.

Sometimes you may need to be stern with her but in all, instill in her the desire to be a big girl and not a baby.

Hope no one is/has raped her o. Death by lynching should be istered upon a devil like this.

I am sure that is what those saying go to the doctor have in mind as we all know that that pissy pissy and inability to retain pee means some one has opened the hole.

OP is your mother late?
Were you raised by your grandma? If yes, is she late?

Answer those 2 questions.

These days mama no dey do omuigo. So couples are on their own.

And clearly, girls no longer learn home training only learning "how to catch a man and control him to buy you a benz and get him to marry you". That is what they are learning

The sooner you stop her from watching whatever it is, the better.

There are other ways to have fun, try coloring books, buy toys and turn off the damn TV!
