I was just thinking about my old job this morning.

When it starts affecting my mental health.

My overbearing boss was always critical of my performance. He never gave me credit for anything.

Nigerians don’t. Nigerians haven’t and Nigerians never will.

I was employed as a quality assurance manager at one big eatery in Abuja, I go taste d food if its ok then I'll carry the food to the sales point...after two weeks I was like, shey u dey mad ni (I was talking to myself).... I stopped going there, luckily I got another good job that week....

These stories I am reading are so sad. Well, it is entirely our fault. When we say we need to work on overpopulation, the majority of those who are suffering continue to insult us. Lol. Even ladies who are supposed to be happy are more likely to insult us.

No matter how great Nigeria is, with our population growing at such a rapid pace, we cannot avoid unemployment. When there are too many of us, why will not employers treat us as trash? Is it possible that Estonia, Finland, or even the current China will treat their labor force as trash when they know they are needed? However, go to China when they have not yet addressed overpopulation (they used to be worse than India).I laugh ooo.

He made his staff work on Saturdays without pay, but if u miss a day due to illness you are deducted twice wat your daily ay calculation was.

There was a Muslim holiday for 2days I had to stay home to be sure I wasn't imagining things,

End of month my salary was deducted times 4, oh wow, this one na die. Had to get rid of all my certificates, and went into street hustling,

If I post the man name here , you do Google search and see him, you will not believe such a person that enjoyed so much employee welfare in a foreign oil company in Nigeria will subject people to slavery under his own company,.

You sef no do well. Why won't you greet your boss? And why did he seize your phone in the first place? 😒

I don't know if it's a boss where you're learning work or something, but you cannot expect to work under someone when you cannot open your mouth to greet the person just cos he seized your phone.

Thinking about it right now #450k is not worth it at this economy

Was working at a production factory where my boss wasn't interested in my well being. I was a supervisor and my staffs where well concentrated on. It was a December , I didn't receive salary or any festive boost while I've paid everyone else. I had to call him, look into his eyes and requested for my pay because he had done that before and after I get paid due to the havock I caused I had to let go of him and the job. I got to know he carried women and he's a drunk. He does that every month while I'm left to starve.

I wouldn't say Nigeria is overpopulated since we're not even among the top 5 most populated in the world, the only issue is that we have a comatose industrial sector and there's not enough commercial activities going on.

If we had stable power supply with thriving industries, even foreigners would the work force despite our population.

Also, government regulations aren't helping matters. A lot of the entrepreneurs trying to provide jobs are being frustrated by poor government policies and multiple taxation, that's why some bosses are frustrated and their staff are not enjoying benefits. If you observe, most of the people complaining here were working for small businesses, whereas they don't know the struggles their own bosses are going through to stay afloat, but I don't condone a toxic working environment.

I practically understand what exploitation is all about.

Every day the boss sing us a song with a lyric that says '' No work for Nigeria '' reminding us that we have to go hard or go back home to our parents.

Plus, If you are sick u have to move ur sick body to the hospital for check up before they agree to approve a sick leave.

While I agree with you on the problem of overpopulation in our country. China actually has serious unemployment problems as well.
China is not exactly eldorado. There is press and propaganda. But there's also real fundamentals to determine the actual state of an economy:

What bad experience (s) did you have?

Not everybody has the grace and fallback to quit a job because of nonsense.

For example, I myself didn't have a father's house to stay in, while looking for work, so consider yourself lucky.

With some of us, our heart can no longer be in the job, but we must stay till we find something else.
