Ali Ndume, senator representing Borno south in the national assembly, has advised President Bola Tinubu to hire military contractors for the battle against insurgents and bandits.

Ndume said this after a recent attack on Ngoshe community in Gwoza LGA of Borno.

The attack led to the death of six farmers and the abduction of five.

In a phone conversation with journalists on Wednesday, Ndume said the mercenaries would be effective in curbing insecurity in all hotspots across the country.

“All across the world, governments hire the services of military contractors to engage in certain places,” he said.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu can consider this as a short measure. These contractors will work with our military and civilian JTF, who understand the terrain.

“These contractors will come with their equipment and military hardware. In a very short time, they’ll eliminate those Boko Haram terrorists. The contractors can also be used to eliminate those bandits operating in the north-west.

“Over a period, the federal government can now recruit youths to the military and raise the number to at least one million. But in the interim, I think the president should consider this option of hiring military contractors.”

Filibus Yakubu, councillor of Ngoshe ward in Gwoza LGA, said Jubril Zarana, commander of the civilian t task force (JTF) in the area, was killed in the attack.

He said the terrorists ambushed farmers on their farms, killed some of them, and abducted others.

“The Boko Haram terrorists released three women from which this information was obtained. The released women further stated that the victims are being kept hostage by the terrorists,” Yakubu said.

“Moreover, some people were still missing as at this time that we’re talking, as a result of this incident. The people did not return to Ngoshe during the catastrophe, and as reported by the released women, they are not part of the ones abducted.

“Our people are severely suffering due to lack of essential life , but they have chosen to remain in their fatherland because of the love they have for it.

The state government has really tried for our people, but NGOs and others are not providing us with food supplies.”

The idea of hiring mercenaries is a good one but the cost of doing that would be expensive.

Our soldiers are doing well, they just need more financially and logistics wise

Hire mercenaries from where exactly? Within Nigeria? I hope he is not saying that the country should hire Asari-Dokugbo-type mercenaries to tackle the problem. 🤐🤐🤐🤐🤐🤐

For those who don't , LT.Gen Ihejirika dealt a heavy blow to the terrorist then that Buhari and Tinubu people were shouting he is killing their people (Buhari people - North)

After sometime close to 2014 or thereabouts GEJ brought in Military contractors who nearly finished the Job until the defender of Bokoharam Gen. Buhari took over

For people down south, mercenaries may be better suited in wiping out the kidnappers in our forests, as the scourge seems to go on unabated.

You are a deliberate liar or ignorant here.
The almost total failure of GEJ istration to defeat BH was because how most people criticized the idea of using foreign mercenaries to stop those constant attacks.

10 years ago, I personally advised then President Jonathan to hire MOSSAD as Mercenaries to eliminate Boko Haram terrorists in drone strikes. It was ignored. Today, we are still wasting time.

Ali Ndume that was once arrested for sponsoring Boko Haram. Nigeria is a sad painful story of foolishness of men trying desperately to play God. Funded Boko haram to take power, now you the power, but for over 9 years, the nation had known no peace, insecurity, hunger, drop on the standard of living and many more. Just looking back at Goodluck's Nigeria is like a dream.

The MAIN hole to plug in Naija is corruption. Seal the leak, and then recruit more young men to the military. Train them, purchase the most recent equipment, and use technology to cover air, land, and sea. If not, we will continue to waste money because corruption will swallow everything. Nigeria's population is approaching 300 million, necessitating the use of more military force to ensure national security. But first, tackle corruption.
