The big error in your assertion is, you cannot generate 5,500 megawatts and successfully distribute same without loss of some megawatts during distribution. Not possible. It is a common thing we learned in school in our Physics class. During distribution there's always energy loss for various reasons.
Meanwhile, in a population of over 200m people, please what is 5,500 megawatts? How is it going to satisfy the whole citizens to even claim over 40% consumers enjoy over 20hrs per day of electricity? That on it own is a big lie. Some countries that their power generation is over 10,000 megawatts and with less population don't enjoy 20hrs electricity, it is Nigeria with bloated population that will safely enjoy over 20hrs electricity. Mr. Minister of Darkness, you lied.
I still know many communities that for years now they have no light since they lost it. Nigeria won't grow with this mediocrity government full of lying and insincerity. Nigerians are just paying for what they they use by the hike in price of the electricity not readily available to them.
He should have just claim that some areas have improved electricity than saying over 40% of consumers enjoy over 20hrs electricity per day.
To the hailers of government, if you're enjoying steady light for now, just know that we are in the rainy season and the volume of water had increased dramatically because it helps in the generation and supply of electricity. During heat period you will surely go back to your usual epileptic supply of electricity. That's just the factual assertion.

Electricity has indeed improved...atleast, at various places I visit.

Just that I don't know how the Minister of Power arrived at his estimation.

40% is huge!!!

There are approximately 26 million homes in Nigeria, and 40% of that is 10.6 million homes. The Minister of Power wants us to believe that it supplies 20 hours of electricity per day to a whole 10,600,000 households using just 5,500MW of electricity which he claims the country generates. No be juju be that one? undecided

Chai. Simple comprehension, una no get.

He said 40% of electricity s. Not 40% of Nigerians.

I see so many comments saying yes power have been constant in their area but tariff is too high.
If there must be constant power supply then definitely the tariff must be high, yes in my area we enjoy not upto 20hrs supply but his numbers (40%) is a lie.I detest APC government

These government is confused with it's propaganda.

Tinubu wants to force his imaginary achievements on the people, irrespective of the suffering.

Tariff is extremely high over the increased tax. Ordinary Nigerians can't afford it..... How are they enjoying the light?

Estimated bill is on a very high side.... Prepaid meter is now very expensive to acquire.

The 40% is made up of the rich class and a tiny fraction of the middle class....
The truth is that electricity supply has really improved no propaganda in that. The only problem is that the tariff is too high because the subsidies on energu consumption has been removed. For people to pay for what they consume, energy company should provide prepaid meter which will make consumers to ration what they're using to prevent unnecessary estimated bill

40% of grid electricity consumers is not the same as 40% of the population of Nigeria.

Can 40% of Nigerian Households even afford this Band A? undecided
His assertion is even very wrong to claim 40% of Nigeria consumers now enjoy 20hrs per day electricity. Presently South Africa has 42,000MW of electricity just to carter for just 63m people and they cannot boast of their citizens enjoying 20hrs per day electricity, lest a country with 5,500MW. We don't even. Talk of energy loss during transmission and some other wastage that may accompany it.
Aside that, we are in a rainy season and even lines on 11kv will surely enjoy stable light because of improved water level during to downpour of water. That is just the science of improved electricity within this 4 months and not because they added more megawatts of electricity because that number cannot carter for 5 states let alone 40% population.

The improvement is due to heavy downpour of rain and not because they added significant amount of electricity. It's a usual thing to enjoy improved electricity during rainy season. Look out for next year it would be the same.

I do not know the part of Nigeria you reside in or if you reside in Nigeria at all.

But from my end and from where I live I enjoy over 20hrs of stable electricity and am not a Band A customer.

If you do not just state so without shenanigans so we can all move forward. Not coming online to talk gibberish cus you can afford to do so.
Haas! Adelabu has successfully labu you guys. For goodness sake this is rainy season, there's always an improved electricity during rainy season. Please how much is 5,500MW generated without talking about the one that will be loss during transmission. I just think some of you are just growing up and don't know seasons.
Nigeria as a country still lagging on power generation. South Africa with a population of about 63m is generating upward of 42,000MW but Nigeria with a population of over 200m has 5,500MW and a man came to tell you that 40% of population consumer of electricity is enjoying 20hrs electricity per day and you believed him like that without thinking it through that how would less than 5,500MW satisfy 40% population of electricity consumers for 20hrs per day.

Sometimes I wonder how stupid this people even think we are,40% of the consumers have light which is roughly 30-40 million people with just 5000 mw?while a country with similar 49million citizens have 50,000 mw,is this not a disgrace, how can the country develop
The improved is even due to heavy downpour of water and not because they have improved generation of electricity. See the way some educated Nigerians are falling upon themselves giving approval of what he said without thinking it through. What is 5,500MW that can bring improved electricity to 40% population without talking of loss of energy that will accompany its distribution.
Mr. Adelabu just successfully labu them.
