The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Anambra Branch, has called off the strike it embarked on to protest the kidnap of Dr Stephen Ezeh in the state.



In a statement on Sunday, August 25, the NMA, said the decision to call off the strike followed the release of Ezeh from captivity on Saturday, August 24.



The Statement was signed by Dr Princeston Okam and Dr Ifeanyi Obiaeli, its Chairman and Secretary respectively.



The statement reads: "The total and indefinite strike called by the NMA Anambra Branch to protest the kidnap of our member, Dr Stephen Ezeh, is hereby called off following his release. Clinical services resume 08:00 hours Sunday, Aug 25.



"We appreciate the good people of Anambra for bearing with us through these trying times while we earnestly pray that this tribulation will not arise again.



“We appreciate our colleagues for their solidarity and doggedness in the face of the challenges facing the sector, especially insecurity and urge them to remain resolute and committed towards delivering healthcare to Anambra people.”

Anambra is in its worst insecurity situation of recent. Gov soludo is concentrating on road construction leaving security behind. I don't know what he uses his monthly security votes for. Maybe he uses then for construction. Despite his verbouse promises to improve security in Anambra, nothing has been done. Unknown gunmen are regaining grounds and returning back.

Anambra State is no-go area, rampant kidnapping and killing of security agents are order of days. Gov soludo is practically doing nothing to arrest the situation. What he does is to move around with battalion of security agents of about 24 vehicles in a convoy.

The residents doctors among them will continue as NARD stated her own strike by midnight today.

National Association of Resident Doctors are now on strike nationwide because of Dr Ganiyat who was kidnapped 8 months ago.
Several warnings have been issued and millions contributed and paid as ransom but no positive outcome.
Now, doctors are going all out nationwide.


Indian doctors are on strike because of a female doctor that was raped and I think killed in the process but government did nothing about getting the gang.
