It's funny that the rich can't even channel flood water back to the sea. Common sense needs and app in Nigeria.

Lagos is working .
The governor and his team are doing a great job

Job well done but must it be reactive? What has been done now could as well have been done before to avoid the issues. All the vehicles immersed in water earlier today will definitely need to see a mechanic soon and this is avoidable. That is the point

Lagos is working
Flood happen every part of the world state that not close to sea if they experienced rain in lagos it will be like what we see in bayelsa Benue last year over 100 house destroyed
Flood don’t destroy house in lagos

Assuming lagos don’t have a working system it will have being worst

This is not rainfall again, this is a flood
I feel for those areas that have been resisting every attempt by government to clear all the houses built on waterways and canals, they are in for a long thing
If you want to buy property or rent a house, this is the best time to go about it,imagine renting a house and you start getting apprehensive anytime it rains
I will stop here and tell you,if you want to get a property use a professional that understands the topology of the area
Start with a surveyor before you bring any other professional for landed property, you can sue them if they misadvise you

I am a Surveyor and a Real Estate Agent.

My advice is worth a million

How about permanent solution. This is just temporary.

This should have been prevented in the first place!
Obviously, some drainage channels were blocked by sand/vegetation or whatever.
If those guys are doing their jobs right, those channels would have been cleared before the flood.
How many productive manhours must have been lost today?

We need proactive governance.

Reactionaries. I thought someone gets paid to keep those drainages clean.
Litmus: 4:23pm On Jul 03, 2024
The picture below shows what the 18th to 19th century British people created underground as drainage systems before erecting thire cities on top.

Nigeria's colonial rulers were possibly responsible for the impractical way our Nigeria cities are today. The foundations of our cities were built by them for no other purpose than temporary stay. Our cities were essentially thire rudimentary goldmine camps. When they left we simply continued.

Since the beginning of the year you are sleeping right,a reasonable govt should know that you are prone to flood during raining season should have start clearing the gutters and canals from Jan to April
