Former Welfare Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Alhaja Ramota Bankole, has ed on in Mecca.

Bankole, who is one of the Lagos APC women leaders from the Epe Division, died while performing a Hajj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia. Publicity Secretary of the party in the state, Mr Seye Oladejo, said the late Bankole was a committed member of the party.

He said in a statement;

“Her death is most shocking and unfortunate. She was a committed and experienced party leader. The deceased was a proven mobiliser and inspiration for women’s participation in politics. May her precious soul be in peace."

These things need to be investigated, the government will be so insensitive if this cases are not investigated and hajj should be banned permanently for Nigerians, not to talk of government wasting over #100bn to sponsor it.

So far, this hajj has brought sorrow and mourning for Nigerians instead of peace and blessing.

Most likely as a result of heatstroke, imagine walking long distances under temperature as high as 45°C. There's a current heat wave in Saudi Arabia and other parts of the middle east. Even with numerous cooling stations provided across the states where hajj is being performed, people are still ing out from exhaustion and dehydration. Regardless of the weather, there's no year people from across the world don't lose their lives during hajj. RIP to the departed.
