The Enugu State Government has ordered 50 Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) buses to enhance public transportation, coinciding with the initiation of new mega bus terminals across the state.

The Enugu State Commissioner of Transportation, Obi Ozo, disclosed this during an interview on Afia TV, where he provided an update on the state government’s latest efforts to improve transportation infrastructure.

Ozo further explained that these buses, crucial to the state’s mass transit strategy, are scheduled to arrive in Enugu within the next three to four months, aiming to improve public transit in the area.

“The istration has actually ordered 50 BRT buses and in the next three to four months, they would be here,” he said.

The Commissioner revealed that the BRT buses would be part of the first phase of the Enugu State Smart Transport Programme.

He explained that commuters would use an EJ card, similar to the Cowry card used in Lagos State-run public transportation, to digitally pay for their rides on these buses.

He also added that once the bus terminals are completed, other buses operating there will also use the EJ cards, as all payment systems in these new terminals are designed to be digital.

Ozo further detailed that commuters could top up the EJ cards via bank transfers, agents located near the terminals, or direct debit from their salary s.

He emphasized that the EJ cards, unique to each commuter, would enable the smart transportation system to offer discounts to the elderly, students, and disabled individuals.

Additionally, he mentioned that regular s who consistently top up and repay might receive credit extensions on their cards from the managing financial institution.

So it seems the new proposed Bus terminals that Enugu state government intent to build will be done by the Planet Project Nigeria Limited, same people that did the Oshodi bus interchange.

That make sense. Let’s see how it goes.

It's a good project if realised but I must it that the present Enugu government cannot be trusted.

Hardly completing any project and hardly giving quality project. I am still monitoring Mba. He is behaving like he is serious but I'm a lot disappointed on the way he fails on promises.

Last year, he said he will deliver 85 roads before December. None delivered after December. Only 30 percent completed till now.

He also promised water project, not achieved till now.

He started Eke flyover, not 10% done.

No single big project completed. Only inferior and poorly executed internal roads

Alex Otti and Fr Alia have completed many. On top that, he is over taxing Enugu people. I understand he spent a lot to get to the seat but he should not punish ndi Enugu because of that

15billon giving to Ugwuanyi to cling Enugu PDP ticket. About 7billion paid to INEC to get declared in Abuja. About 5billion to win at Enugu tribunal and 10billlon to win at Supreme court.

I believe he can turn things around with all these projects initiated but we will wait if he achieves them with quality. They are laudable projects I must say but lacking trust

For a man who has spent only one year in office, you guys should give that man some credit.

Secondly, stop making comments you cannot substantiate. These days people are arrested to come to court and defend what they posted online.

BTW, I like that he appointed Aka Eze Aka his commissioner. I was his Midmorning Show fan back in the day in Enugu.

Eke Obinagu flyover is a federal government project, not Enugu state. It seems Umahi owns the company that got the contract to build the flyover.

If it's not CNG or electric then it's a waste.

I wonder why the billionaires in Nigeria have not invested in electric keke and okada. What are they even thinking.

Chai if to say I get moni... The Kain Ideas whey dey my head ehnnnn.

Even if the federal government don't initiate, so no state govt can initiate mass production of electric motor bikes and keke which is are very important means of transportation for those that doesn't have car. I swear no state govt wld invest in such and not make good return on investment and creating jobs for the youth cos the assembly plant will be here and the charging stations will be here too. I wonder what that are thinking.

Come to Abuja and see these Buses called El-rufai bus languishing in the Sun and Rain.

We lack maintenance.

Not far from me, a gigantic Sign board is being erected whereas there is about the same size of same Sign board wasting with no one using it.
Maintenance has always been our problem in this country
