That the disciples were referred to as Christians by the Pagans of the time who probably meant it as a derogatory term is one thing. That term was never sanctioned by Jesus Christ or God and so means absolutely nothing as far as God of Israel and Jesus Christ. The later adoption of the term by the Roman establishment who then created a religion of it, is something else entirely.
