Why do people spend so much on it?

It’s a preference .
You are either android or IOS or windows phone.
Before the big 2. I started with blackberry and playbook . But they were not compatible with anything else. No 3rd party software. So I dropped BB.
Went with iPhone it’s slick , easy to use, security features and has a good resale value .
I tried Android and it’s too loose - anyone can access and toil with OS and manipulate it. Basically Open source.
I like IOS because unless you jailbreak it which voids your warranty , it’s open to restricted 3rd party apps. Has Ms docs which I use for work and the interface is something I am familiar with. The camera isn’t as great as Android but I’ve never bought a phone because of the great pics it can take. It also pairs flawlessly with my IPhone watch .
And iPad. Also never heard it being hacked! The government and google are like 1&2.
I use an IPhone 13 Pro /max and won’t 15 for another year or so. I don’t need a new phone every year.
I hate not having a home button though .

Some reasons:

1. Good build quality: You can feel the quality just by holding an iPhone in your hand.
2. Second hand value: For whatever reason, iPhones tend to hold value more than competing brands.
3. iOS: This is debatable but IOS in my opinion is much smoother and more efficient than android. The interface and experience is very good and is standardized.
There are fewer phones to so it’s easier for app developers to make their iOS versions as excellent as possible.
4. Longevity: apple continues to release iOS updates for its older iPhones for a good number of years (5 to 6). Androids I had in the past released updates for a year or two and stopped.
This is very important for security as vulnerabilities are patched frequently. It’s no surprise that you find android phones infected with malware that pops up unsolicited adverts without recourse for the .
5. Cameras: nothing to say here, cameras are decent.
6. Apple ecosystem: A major part of why Apple is successful is how well their various devices play together. Some examples: you can use your iPhone as a webcam on your Mac seamlessly, you can use your iPad as a second screen for your Mac, you can easily and automatically switch your AirPods between all your Apple devices (Mac, iPhone , Apple TV etc).
7. Security: if your phone is stolen/misplaced, you’re almost guaranteed that your data is safe (say you have nudes on the phone). Most of the time the phone can only be sold for parts as it’s difficult or impossible to break iCloud lock.
Even now, it seems the phone is completely useless as Apple has started to digitally sign parts and their permission is required before they can be used as spare parts in other devices.

These are my personal reasons. It’s easy to stay back and think yourself so smart for not using one but my advice is to first use an iPhone before forming an opinion. Same with macs and other Apple devices.

Thank my brother, i have looked and looked and looked till now e still be like say na only me dem no fit Jazz same phone change camera position all the time and reduce or add one camera and so on. Apple is the real example of walking round a circle.

Am not saying its totally useless but buying such piece for such amount is stupidity.

The i in front of the letter phone is what makes it special.

It's not overated, there is an app called Night vision on Apple store, this app allows you to see Through complete darkness , it uses your phone camera without turning on the flashlight. Every where will be green and you will watch people in the night without them knowing.
I looked for the app on play store , the night vision i found on playstore couldn't see shit, it was even darker than the night, I went ahead andd tried other 10 suggested apps under Night vision, all trash thank you.

I don't use an iPhone. But people focus on iPhone being expensive like S23 Ultra isn't well over a million naira too at full launch price.
Anyway, apps are better optimised for iOS and developers will release there first and the best. Social media apps generally work better with iOS.
They have the BEST smartphone processor right now, although high-end Android phones have more GPU power.
iPhones have the BEST video recording capabilities. Pixel could be argued to take better pictures though, although it's not a huge difference by any means. The iPhone however is the best all-rounder camera phone.
iPhones have the longest software cycle of any smartphone phone.
iPhones have better resale value. Buy an S23 Ultra at launch price of say ₦1.3m and a iPhone 15 Pro Max at the same launch price and give them eight months, the Samsung would have depreciated by significantly more. PS: I use a Samsung S22+.
iPhones have the most efficient chipsets and last longer than comparable Android phones with a physically smaller battery.
DxOMark rated the 14 Pro Max display as the most color accurate as of last year.
Because Apple doesn't produce budget phones and hardly drop discounts, iPhones have a posturing in the smartphone world.

in the country of origin which is USA and other developed countries the iphone is like a 2 week salary from hustle job. You can also get it on monthly contract ( which majority of them do) . It is not iphones fault that exchange rate in Nigeria has been mismanaged. What you see as 1m phone which over 90% of Nigerians dont have in their is chicken change in their own money.

You also have to understand economics they need to keep hyping the phone if not the money will go to Samsung and other asian brands.

As for me what I enjoy most about iPhone is data saving. The ability to turn off data for each app stands the ios out compared with android .

But if you are asking about Macbook, then I can't do without it. It is the best laptop there is, especially if you use the series with the M1 chips. From speed, internal storage, interface, horsepower, display, etc

The Macbook M1 series is so beautifully made, that you begin to wonder if the Mac was designed by God himself.

They don’t understand and may never and it is difficult to explain to them. You are very correct about the parts signature, only an amateur thief would steal an iPhone because it is totally useless. Even to replace the screen with another you can’t without the previous screen. Isn’t apple too brilliant?

leave them, let’s not talk about the measurement app on the iPhone which is good for those in the engineering field. An iPhone XR is capable of up to 6 esims, which android or Samsung phone can offer than aside the S22 ultra upwards which cost twice the XR.
