I just laugh and count it as a joke.

10k per month as a graphics designer is very very low. They don't rate you atall.

The pay is obviously poor so just focus on building portfolios by having good designs for reference purposes.

That's the reward of see finish.

That's why it is always good to do these two things:

1. Stay distinctive.
2. Avoid over saturated and over crowded professions/skills.

For a company to offer you 10k, it means that an hungry graphic designer has gone to beg that company for 3k/ month job. I see them everyday on Nairaland. Some of them can offer to design your logo, brand, website, etc., for a cup of garri.

People who don't know their worth, are inexperienced, and too lazy and lukewarm to seek expertise are always a curse to every profession. This is a common trend in nearly all professions without a regulatory body.

You are missing the point. They are going to exploit him. 10k a month is the cost of 2 plates of food at a decent restaurant. They are going to get those designs from him and dump him afterwards. They have nothing worth while to offer him if not they will not tell him to produce that amount of work for a pitiable amount.

Fiver is just one of many avenues to make money. The problem is that we think local a lot whereas there is a big whole world out there.

Taking up volunteer remote graphics work/job is even better because you get to network for more opportunities.
