Nigeria has an agreement with Niger to supply them electricity in exchange for Niger not damming the Niger river.
If Niger dams the river Niger for electricity and irrigation purposes, we will be the ones needing to buy light from them, besides our farming will be affected.
Nigeria, sanctioning Niger with electricity despite the agreement has shown we are not reliable. In this case, it will not be out of place Niger makes it a policy to dam the Niger river once they attain stability.
Guinea is already damming the river. Niger too started Damming the river last year. Lack of funds is why they haven't completely dammed it yet.

It's interesting to see you Obidients organizing a "pity party" for Niger Republic on this thread. Weren't they once your enemies when Buhari was president?

Just last week, you were all laughing at the photoshop images of Tinubu during the Nigeriens protest against the Nigerian president
... grin

The sanctions is not even up to a week and they have stated crying like helpless widows, them never see anything yet, let them keep listening to their motivational speakers from Mali, Burkina Faso and Guinea.

People cross from Sokoto to Niger to buy iceblock all because of the constant power supply they are enjoying from Nigeria. It is really biting hard on them...life no balance

But they sad part is refugees will start trooping to Nigeria. Which is a security treat to our country. Our soldiers need to mount our borders in the north.

Africans really hates themselves, so Tifnubu sanctioned Niger on behalf of the west, the white man. Naigeria and Niger are supposed to be in allied against , the west, the white man. grin grin.

You’d think with all the nonsense they yarn on the internet about western influence they’d be first to African citizens wanting freedom from being under a western government’s thumb. It really shows most of them just usually talk with really no understanding of what they are truly talking about.
Just wherever the wind of religion or tribalism or the bigotry of the day blows them.

I seriously do not understand why Tinubu decided to be used by those in Europe to punish Niger.
Tinubu is not used, if there is one leader that cannot be used, it is Tinubu.

Truth is Tinubu is an advocate of democracy, he was one of the people that fought military govt in Nigeria and brought democracy, he does like the word Military dictatorship

Do you understand why price of Petro in maiduguri is higher than PH?

propsvilla1:
Ok
What I can't understand is why Nigeria that is still suffering from epileptic power supply is supplying light to other countries. Still thinking about this because I can't comprehend it.

There is never a good coup. They could have waited for the next election to remove the elected president. The man was just 2 years into his tenure.

I lived through Abacha's regime and it was horrible. You could get thrown in jail for just speaking against Abacha. There was assassination all over. Sanctions were biting hard. I the fumes and poisonous smell from the Abacha stove despite my parents being professionals. We would not even have Nairaland. It would have been shut down.

Nigeria is supplying niger electricity but cannot boast of 247 light. What nigeria cannot make you amazed of does not exist.

See ignorant.
We produce...ie generate, but we have issue with transmission. Generation.... transmission... distribution....those are how power works.
We sell the excess power generated to other countries because we lack the resources to transmit everything generated due to cost.

Transmission is very, very expensive....average cost is about two usd million for a 100 I'm road.

Niger has constructing a danm project 3yrs ago in Which the Nigeria government assisted in funding that project, but due to financial issues on their own hand the project was going slowly.
And more over, chad has been daming river Niger.

Sanctions only affect ordinary people. Those who masterminded the coup will feel nothing.

The ordinary people will get to a point where they can no longer bear it. They'll revolt against the coup plotters and reclaim their country
