I think the adjective 'simp' is arguably the most misused adjective on this forum, and perhaps on social media. I recall when, some time ago, I was ill and my significant other washed my clothes (hand wash o) he laughingly remarked "if my guys see me washing your clothes, they will call me a simp".

That got me thinking. Does showing care to your partner make you a simp? The toxic social media Alfamails seem to think so. The same 'alpha males' wey no dey give their mama monthly allowance, talk less of her holding their net worth for them, but are here shouting "Hakimi is our hero!" (we are not ready for THAT conversation).

I think a lot of people are confusing things when they try to call some men simps.

Let me tell you what doesn't make a man a simp.

* Taking care of his woman doesn't make a man a simp.

* Listening to his woman and following her suggestions and imputs doesn't make a man a simp.

*Fighting for and protecting his woman from toxic family and friends and people doesn't make a man a simp.

*Spending on his woman doesn't make a man a simp.

*Prioritizing his woman, putting her needs and feelings in consideration when making decisions doesn't make a man a simp.

*Not allowing people, especially close friends and family, to disrespect his woman doesn't make a man a simp.

*Being a good man to your woman doesn't make a man a simp.

None of those things make a man a simp. They make a man a man.

A simp, on the other hand, is a man who lacks any sense of self-worth. He is a man who doesn't understand that his feelings and needs in the relationship/marriage matter too. So he is content with getting nothing. He doesn't rate himself enough to believe he deserves to get as much as he gives.

A simp is a man who believes women are doing him a favour by being in his life. He believes he has to do everything. He believes she doesn't have to do anything.

A simp is a man whose big picture no her Facebook profile picture. Nothing beyond her. He can't stand up to her when she's wrong. He can't offer guidance. She's not "scared" of him or what he will do when she goes out of line or misbehaves. He's her boy, her toy. She will just rub his head small and he will start drooling.
