Do you know telecommunication pay vat to federal government to any line dormant in the system? If it happens to be your business would you keep allowing such system to coexist in your line of business

I work with a telecommunication company and I can tell you that telecoms pay billions to keep inactive lines to government just to keep it active till the owner comes for it|But it's a bad business now for Us

I am on this TABLE, I have several Sims I only make use of once in a while. GLO no even send you, 3 months them don block am. But kudos to Airtel and 9mobile, for years I have recharged on that Airtel sim but they will never deactivate it. For MTN, they dash free GB data if you did not use it for a long time.

It's very unfortunate what Nigerians are taking in the hands of this MTN! You didn't give these lines freely to the people,they bought it from you. It’s almost impossible that in 365 days, even in a rural area, that a line won’t be recharged for use with at least #100 or #200 either for voice or data service. Doing business is pretty tough for these telcos if you know their operations. They deal with issues from land rent litigations, diesel, theft, sabotage etc.

It won't cost u more Dan 100 to call out from US, Canada, UK and some countries to Nigeria while some are just 500 per minute so buy card from ur bank app den you're good to go call someone in Nigeria or that same country number let dem pick it and cut immediately u don save ur sim....

Besides, you can always change the number associated with your IDs and s.

Your network providers have partnered with other providers in most of the countries. All u need do is to search n select the partner network n u are good to go.

You can make calls, send sms n access internet though, you would be charged more.

I don't share your view. Think about it from a business perspective. It requires maintenance to keep a line viable. It makes no sense to keep maintaining a line that has no activity. Besides, they are not sharing your information. And by recycling the line, it has no security link to you afterwards as your personal data would have been stripped from the SIM. Nobody will be able to reach or defraud you in anyway through that said line.

No revenue generating like without recharging it, what if the uses it to receive calls without recharging it, will they still block the line after 360days?

You obviously don't know what you're saying, many recycled lines that have been linked to bank s still receives alert after transferring it to another .

That's because, those lines are still in bank database and they send alerts to the number, unless the bank owner changes the number from the bank

I bought my line in 2003 for N48,000 and later bought three more lines for N35,000 each.

Now two of those lines since 2019 are not in use because s are overseas with over N5k in each line and tied to BVN etc.

MTN has made profitable income from the two lines for more than 15years.

MTN please try it and see if you won't cough out N100M per line... USELESS COMPANY .. phewwww

The are called service providers. Which means that, when you pay, they provide the desired service to the sim. In a situation you don't pay, don't expect them to provide any service. They gave you an option, active "keep my number" service, and you retain it. But if you choose not to, they line will be deactivated and recycled if there's no chargeable transaction on it.

MTN management should be very careful....

You can do electronic recharge, send mail to your service provider, and let them know you are not in Nigeria. Cos you have airtime on your balance, they can activate the "keep my number" service on the line based on your request.
