Is there any way someone can recover a share with just the dividend letter?
It is actually a 2400 unit of shares my dad bought around 2003 or there about,

To recover shares you need an acceptable means of identification at the registrars office, there you will be told all you need to know about your shares, you will even be told if your shares is in cscs through a stockbroker or the certificate is with you or not.

In any of the cases, you will need a stockbroking firm that will help to process your shares into cscs . If the shares was bought through a broker and the broking firm is still functional then get in touch with them otherwise get a new functional stockbroking firm who will help to transfer your shares from the dead firm and you can now do whatever you wish with your shares.

For the dividend you don't need a broker for that. At the registrars office complete a mandate form and all your outstanding dividends will be processed and paid. Most registrars gives 10 working days to do that or depending on their work load.

Can anyone point me to a broker that they have successfully used to purchase stock on NASD since I can’t open an as an individual.

The 3 brokers I use are on the NASD site listed as ed brokers but none of them has been able to execute 1 trade for me yet for no tangible reason. So preference is for a recommendation that has recently worked out.
