if you back up to your google acct, could be your best bet. Clear whatsapp data & cache or reinstall whatsapp so you can restore from your google on setup.

I use Gb WhatsApp so I don't backup to Google

No one or no were in the instructions asked you to extract the zip file. The updater does the extraction on its own.

Read instructions carefully next time.

That statement bug filled is wrong. Backup and do a factory reset.

Even Phartamsy that used the first pilot ROM 13.0.2 never experienced such.

Just updated the security patch for January for Redmi 9, Enhanced version. Device feels so much smoother and faster like 90 Hz refresh rate. So improvement was also added like new icons etc.
