Hello all. I’m just wondering if anyone else has been in this situation as we’re trying to find some more information about this. My wife who is a British citizen and also holds a Nigerian port has now changed her name to her married name on her Nigerian port. She has an indefinite leave visa which is still in her maiden name. Does anyone know if she needs to get the name on the visa changed before she can change the name on her British port to her married name? She found information that she needed to change the name on her Nigerian port first before the British one which is what we’ve done but we’re struggling to find anything about the indefinite leave visa. Wetin concern British citizen with ILR? If she is already a citizen, the job of her previous ILR visa is done and that document is no longer relevant na.

I was in similar shoes...used my maiden name until British port then I changed. However my naija port still in my maiden name which means it is not a requirement.

The full guidance is on Google.... you need 3 things. 1. List the new names on the application. 2. Marriage certificate and 3. Evidence this now a name used. I post the link but it might not copy well so I add screen shot....but its on Google

Yes, they can travel together. No problem at all, as long as you make provisions for where you will live on landing, a home or hotel till you are able to rent
