Very good alternative

10M NGN is less than 30K USD! Are you sure you understand AWS billing?

And why would you need 90 servers?

Secondly, we would not use regular servers. It must be gov cloud. Azure is best for single for point to point control .. from mobile devices, to laptop to desktop integration, monitoring, and authz/authn all in one space.

Cloud services cost can easily spiral out of control. This past month several publications and complaints have arisen in regards to AWS and the mystery behind the billing.

Many countries don't own data centers, yet their data are keep safe and secure.

Depressed101:
as matter of national security you don't expect a sovereign nation to make use of public servers situated in another country... If it were possible it would be preferred that The country builds its own servers

Why not use the services of AWS or Google Cloud etc for way way less money.
This is daytime robbery.

so before starting the ation they didn't prepare for this, how can they(a whole federal body) not be able to estimate data or file sizes that would occupy the ones they have.
the organization in this country is absurd

Nigeria. A contractors paradise.
When will this country evolve from its rent seeking psyche to that of productivity.

They just throw figures and demands around like a privileged, indolent housewife that cannot be creative, think out of the box and find solutions to problems. No. Everything in Nigeria is monetised.

Restructure Nigeria so that all these horrid, corruptive demands will end.

So that NIMC officials know only about how to gather and process data, not how much servers cost for it is not their business.

So that military generals know how to fight wars and device security strategies not how much tanks, bullets and bombs cost for it is not their business

So that medical doctors, biochemists, and epidemiologists in government know how to battle infectious diseases rather than haggle the prices of vaccines and medical equipment and supplies for it is not their business.

The Nigeria state is one where the primordial nature and characteristic is money, money, money and more money. Everyone serving is first an ant, treasurer and contractor before he or she is civil.... And far, far, far from being a servant.

No one has any solution to anything beyond contracting. No nation can develop this way.

Nigeria of the day can not maintain anything, we can not boost of constant electricity, we are talking about servers, for now, the best option is outsource this things.

The scanned fingerprints are in very high resolution meaning very large files per finger. There's also a need for redundancy. And also a bit of extra storage beyond their current requirements to future proof the infrastructure. There are also operating system licences to cater for, personnel that manage the infrastructure as well as possible expansion of their physical infrastructure like generators and inverters to keep the server available 24/7. Not talking about cooling required. I'd like to see the specification doc before attacking the figure. I recently deployed a VOIP solution that overshot budget because of a lot of wrong assumptions I made. I understand your point though as if the quoted figure is just to acquire servers then that will be pure daylight fraud

Hmmmm... Good point o! Cos both NIN and BVN would require very similar infrastructure. though that BVN is a private initiative funded by the banks I believe (stand to be corrected on this last point)

With that amount FG can partner with AWS or Google or even MainOne to build two Tier 2 datacenters with proper redundacies in place. The North has sunlight wasting away, build solar farms to power the data centers and create a private internet circuit between all NIMC offices and the DC.
Nigeria is in such a pitiable state it's painful.

Really? I thought it was driven by NIBSS. And I always assumed NIBSS was privately owned.

Edit
Got this from their website

Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System Plc (NIBSS) was incorporated in 1993 and is owned by all licensed banks including the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). It commenced operations in June 1994.

This one probably thinks cloud save actually stores in the sky.

So you’d put the database of a whole country in the hands of a third party.

Stay away from topics you know little about.

What makes Nigeria different from these other countries?

The t Enterprise Defense Infrastructure (JEDI) contract is a large United States Department of Defense cloud computing contract which has been reported as being worth $10 billion over ten years. JEDI is meant to be a commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) implementation of existing technology, while providing economies of scale to DoD.

Companies interested in the contract included Amazon, Google, Microsoft, Oracle, and REAN Cloud, part of Hitachi Data Systems. After protests from Google employees, Google decided to drop out of contention for the contract because of conflict with its corporate values.

They've mentioned that there are servers already. They need additional servers to capture all of the country.
