Thanks for all the suggestions and clarifications regarding port validity. I really appreciate.

OliviaPope1:
This portion you quoted is for people whose ports have more than 6months to expiration, but have used up all the available pages. i.e there’s no free space to insert a new visa or maybe to place stamps.

Generally the rule is you can only apply for a replacement if you have only two leaves left or less than 6months to expiration.

@peece, I suggest you wait until June like you mentioned.

Mehn!! I really do appreciate. You’ve really been helpful. Thanks for sharing!!!
joo2018:
If your port will expire before your medicals will expire, you are likely to get an ADR for a new port. But once you get a visa, the visa remains valid for Canada.

"Visa officers will not put a visa in an expired document and will not issue a visa for a period suring the expiry date of the port or travel document. Occasionally, documents containing valid visas are cancelled or replaced. If a valid visa inside an expired document is presented at the POE along with a valid port or travel document, the visa is considered valid."

Section 13.18 Valid visas in expired ports of the ENF4 Port of entry examinations (You can find it online. Linking pdfs have gotten me banned before).

Whao!!thanks a whole lot for more clarity.
That means getting a new port after the former has been stamped doesn’t automatically cancel the former port?
All I need to do is show both to the immigration officers at POE as adviced.
joo2018:
Don't worry about probabilities.

You can get PPR by next week or way after July.

At six months validity, go and renew your port.

Worst case, you get PPR and submit port. If you get another port, you can land in Canada as long as you submit both ports to the immigration officer at the POE.

Oh Ok, thanks a whole lot. If that doable..why not i'l go for that instead. .
kingspaco:

You could still make use of your current port if renewal is going to give you unnecessary stress.

Someone on the sister thread said she was able to land in Canada with a week to port expiry date.
You still have a choice to make though but that's my opinion.

Good afternoon guys,(silent reader)

Congrats to all the PPR clinchers and thanks to everyone here for information sharing.
Please i have a question:
AOR was January 10th 2019, as at then i had 11 months validity on my International port.
Based on my cic profile supposed completion date is July 10th but my port validity will be 5 months by then.
So, since i am not sure when i'll get PPR, i was thinking of renewing my port and raising cse to inform them to be on the safe side.
But i was told by an immigration officer that i wont be able to renew my port if it has over 6 months validity.
That means i'l have to wait and hope PPR comes after 15 June, because it looks like i cant start the renewal process until then since the port is to expire on Dec 15th.
i would really appreciate any ideas on best approach in this case?

Thank you
