A political activist and former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, has called on the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) to bury their faces in their hands in shame over their gross act of corruption recently exposed by him.

Frank in a statement in Abuja in response to a riposte to his press release by the tax agency, said he cannot be intimidated by the agency’s threat to sue him.

He described the agency’s rantings as a puerile attempt to sweep the main issues in his public statement under the carpet.
He said that the FIRS thinks they can continue to deceive Nigerians by claiming unfounded budgetary fidelity.
Frank said: “I read the statement by the Federal Inland Revenue Service and I am rather disappointed at their intellectual laziness.
“Who is the FIRS trying to fool by claiming that their annual subvention is not up to a N100 billion? That is an unintelligent attempt to fool the public.
“The FIRS, like the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Central Bank of Nigeria and the Securities and Exchange Commission are revenue generating agencies of the Federal Government that do not depend on budgetary subventions.
“These agencies are able to appropriate huge funds from the monies they generate for their use.”
He urged the agency to come clean and tell Nigerians the reason for the discrepancies which exist in their records of tax collection.
“For example, on January 7, 2019, the Federal Inland Revenue Service announced that it had broken Nigeria’s all-time revenue generation record, by generating N5.3trillion in 2018.
“However, on 18th August, 2019, the FIRS’ boss was queried for poor performance and under remittances to the Federation by the Chief of Staff to General Muhammadu Buhari, Mr. Abba Kyari.
“Kyari’s letter to the FIRS’s Boss, Tunde Fowler, was to the intent that the reported ‘record breaking’ revenue the agency claimed to have generated was in reality not up to the revenues generated in the previous Peoples Democratic Party-led istration of President Goodluck Jonathan.
“The query, which was widely published in all newspapers and online media channels, was as a result of the N90billion that the FIRS illegally funneled to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo for the 2019 elections which led to the shortfall.
“The FIRS should bury their head in the mud and apologise to Nigerians for aiding and abetting corruption,” he said.
The Bayelsa-born activist called on the anti-corruption agencies to arrest and prosecute the leadership of the Service for aiding and abetting corruption.
He said: “The big question is: what is responsible for the discrepancy? These are questions that the FIRS should be explaining to Nigerians rather than trying to be clever by half in claiming that they do not get up to N100 billion per annum, when in fact they expend 50 times that amount.
“I therefore call for the immediate arrest and prosecution of the leadership of the FIRS for fraud and money laundering.”
Frank added: “I stand by my statement and am not going to tender any apology to FiRS. They are the ones to apologize to Nigerians for illegally spending taxpayers’ money on elections.
“I cannot be intimidated by threats. I am prepared to meet them in court. Why are they crying more than the bereaved if they have nothing to hide?
“Why did they decide to respond on behalf of the Vice President, who is the main issue here? Is the FIRS now Osinbajo’s mouthpiece?”

A political activist and former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank has said the the ongoing travails of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo is allegedly due to corruption which has nothing to do with 2023 politics.

Frank revealed through a statement on Monday in Abuja that he has reliable information from his sources in the presidency to the effect that Osinbajo’s travail has nothing to do with 2023 but alleged mismanagement of about N90 billion Naira released by the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) to prosecute the last general elections in favour of the APC.

Frank said: “The presidency discovered how Osinbajo allegedly mismanaged N90billion from the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS).

“When confronted by the presidency, he confirmed to General Buhari that he indeed allegedly took N90billion from FIRS but it was used for the 2019 presidential election campaign in strategic states of the South-west.

“Gen Buhari asked for a breakdown of how the money was spent and he said he gave N11 billion to Lagos state APC leader but when the said national leader and one former APC chairman were invited for explanation, it was confirmed that Osinbajo gave only N5billion and not N11billion to Lagos state.

“The cabal is asking to know how come they beat PDP in the South-west with less than 60,000 votes if the money was actually spent in the strategic states of the South-west as allegedly claimed.”

The activist insisted that if the information is true, Osinbajo must resign his position as Vice President, adding that such is akin to the characteristics of ‘yahoo boys.’

Frank said since the former National Security Adviser, military colonel.Sambo Dasuki is being held on allegations of embezzlement while Osinbajo is also allegedly being accused of embezzlement, “they should be given the same treatment.”

He added: “This goes to confirm the NEMA case against Osinbajo concerning the N5billion that he was alleged to have siphoned.

“The ball is in Gen Buhari’s court to show Nigerians that he s corruption from his cabinet and do nothing or he is indeed truly fighting corruption and therefore force him to resign.

“No wonder the fight against corruption under this istration is not yielding positive results as expected.”

Frank wondered why Osinbajo would always be the first to brand people like Bukola Saraki and ex-President Goodluck Jonathan with corruption “whereas he is the chairman of ‘yahoo yahoo’ in Nigeria.

“How do we expect the ‘yahoo boys’ to change when the VP is their chairman? Nigerians must not feel sorry for Osibanjo as the time to pay for his yahoo yahoo activities has come.

While calling on Nigerians to ignore the claim that Osinbajo is being witch-hunted by the cabal, Frank said: “If Osinbajo is investigated, Nigerians will be shocked to find more revelation about his activities.

“If he fails to resign, the National Assembly must begin the process of impeachment against him as a matter of urgency to prove to Nigerians that 9th Assembly is not a rubber stamp of the executive.

“Finally, I call on Osinbajo to immediately apologise to God for his ‘yahoo yahoo’ behavior and repent otherwise he will be disgraced out of office."

Signed:

These are not the best of times for the ‘Starboy’ in the presidency; Vice President of Nigeria, Yemi Osinbajo in the last one week has been in the eyes of the needle for numerous reasons.

On Monday, September 16, President Buhari constituted an economic advisory council to replace the current economic management team headed by Osinbajo.

This has sparked reactions, from Nigerians, those whom have referred to the Vice President as a ‘Condolense Vice President’.

As it stands, ngg.ng gathered that the Vice-President might either be forced to resign from office, or be impeached by the National Assembly.

According to an undisclosed source, with ears in the presidency, “ Osinbajo been charged for 90billion he collected from FIRS during the General Elections, which he didn’t put in the Campaign central Acct.

“Buhari told him to bring breakdown on how he spent the 90billion he collected from FIRS.
“So the president called Baba Akande and Tinubu to the meeting. Osinbajo claimed he distributed the 90billion to strategic states in the south west, and gave Lagos 11billion. There and then Tinubu confirmed that he only got 5billion in Lagos state.

“My source said Buhari was seriously disappointed, and asked Tinubu *Is this the person you have to me. But he claims he’s a man of God. And he’s heading my anti-corruption campaign*. So he walked out of the gathering and refused to listen to any pleas.
“My source who was around corners said Osinbajo was lust.

“They’re even digging more into other corrupt cases he has been involved in. As one of the President’s aide says this has confirmed the N5.7billion NEMA Fraud he was involved in.

“Buhari doesn’t want to see Osinbajo at the moment. He’s despondent at what he would do next. Cos the cabal are pressuring the President to do something cos if Nigerians should hear it, it’ll go beyond proportion.

“As I speak Bakare is on the fore, and they’re pushing to remove Osinbajo.

“My source who also had his ears when the Cabals held their meeting said they were shocked at what FIRS churned out and were in deep awe that if Osinbajo claimed he spent that amount in the Southwest, how come APC only beat PDP with just 50k+ votes.

There are feelers that a new VP is currently being shopped for in the south west, to replace Osinbajo, top on the list of those being considered is Tunde Bakare, a pastor and long time friend of Buhari.

Audu Maikori, a lawyer, founder and CEO of Chocolate City Entertainment label has applauded a recent move by Davido and Adekunle Gold.

Davido in a tweet had appreciated Adekunle Gold for co-writing with him (Davido) one of his most favourite song in his soon to be released album.

Maikori while reacting to the co-writing of song between Davido and Davido stressed that it is not a must for an artiste to write every song on their Album.

He said, “This is where a lot of musicians get it wrong- you don’t have to write every song on your album or indeed any song. There are professional songwriters who can write the songs and as long as you sign a publishing agreement you both can share in the glory and proceeds. Good one!”

Recall that Tiwa Savage had also revealed that
YBNL boss, Olamide and Pheelz had actually helped her in co-writing her latest song, 49-99 .
It seems Nigerian artistes are beginning t recognise the importance of song writers.

One of the biggest collaboration many Nigerian
Afrobeat music fans are expecting is the one between the country’s two biggest stars; Davido and Wizkid.

The two have done well for themselves and have been able to make Nigeria appear at the forefront of music in Africa and even on the international scene.

While the two have featured with many Nigerian and foreign acts, the stars, who are termed rivals and have their huge fans base have not done a single collaboration together.

They have featured in some combine songs like All the way Naija when Pepsi Nigeria came up with a World Cup anthem for the the Super Eagles of Nigeria, featuring the likes of Wizkid, Davido, DJ Cuppy, Tiwa Savage , DJ Spinall, Victor Moses and many others.

This may, however, look like history repeating itself. Taking a look at their predecessors;
Tuface Idibia and D’banj , who are considered legends and biggest stars of their time.

The duo of Tuface and D’banj, when the light was still on them didn’t come together for a single collaboration. In fact one can stay the rivalry between D’banj and Tuface fans is a similar one going on between Wizkid and Davido’s fans.

However, towards the end of the peak of their career, D’banj and 2face decided to give fans their first collaboration, which was done on “ Feeling Good ” produced by popular producer,
Don Jazzy.

But the actual collaboration between the two singers came when they were already close to retirement. One can say D’banj and 2face gave their first real collaboration in early 2019 titled ” Baecation.”

The video for Baecation was directed by renowned video director Sesan and it perfectly complimented the audio of the song.
With this, one as well can say that the duo of Davido and Wizkid might not consider having any collaboration together until probably towards when they are close to retirement like predecessors.

Their retirement is not anytime soon, which means fans will have to wait for a long time to get this dream collaboration.

Moghalu in his statement stated that the none invitation of Nigeria to the G7 meeting was because the country was snubbed.

He said in a tweet, “ It’s sad that @NGRPresident of Africa’s supposedly largest economy wasn’t invited to the G7 summit in but @PaulKagame of Rwanda and @CyrilRamaphosa of South Africa were. Our country should be at the table, not on the menu! Obasanjo, like him or not, was at the table.”

Nigerians abroad indulging in crime not representing our values -Buhari

Buhari has said that the few Nigerians abroad indulging in criminal activities do not represent the values of majority of the people of the country.

Mr Femi Adesina, the President’s spokesman in a statement in Abuja, said President Buhari stated this when he met with leaders of the Nigerian Community living in Japan.

The meeting was on the sidelines of the Seventh Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD7), on Thursday in Yokohama, Japan.

The President declared: “Let me also say that there are few Nigerians in the Diaspora that are giving us a bad name by engaging in criminal activities. “These Nigerians are a minority, they do not represent the values of our country, and I plead with them to change their ways.

“We will not condone any crime whether at home or abroad, and we will also not allow these Nigerians define us as a people with reputation for criminality.”

While urging Nigerians in Japan to be good ambassadors of their fatherland, the Nigerian leader said, “I am personally very happy that there are millions of Nigerians all over the world, like you here, who are truly making us proud.”

He described majority of the over 17 million Nigerians in Diaspora as “the face of Nigeria globally and our ambassadors for good.” The President noted that, “Many of our Diasporans, like your good selves here today, have excelled in varying fields of endeavor, both professionally and individually. “You have also made significant and overwhelmingly positive contributions to your Nigerian and international host communities. “You have continually been a positive bridge between Nigeria and the world. It is not an easy feat and we commend you, salute your courage and efforts.”

According to him, Japan is at the cutting edge of technology and efficiency, ‘`two very important attributes that can play a role in Nigeria and improve our capacity for development.” President Buhari urged of his audience to continue to contribute their quota by helping to develop their host country and Nigeria as well. He added: “I look forward to your inborn gift, ability, and capacity in taking up this challenge.”

He also commended many of them who had been “positively impacting the Nigerian economy through financial home remittances, promoting international trade in Nigerian commodities, our music, culture, tourism, sports, and education. The Nigerian leader noted with delight that some of them had also helped to establish industries in Nigeria.

The President urged them “to encourage legitimate Japanese entrepreneurs to come and invest in Nigeria.” “We are continually working to create the necessary enabling environment for investors to thrive, through improvements in our Ease of Doing Business practices, providing security, diversification of the economy, infrastructure and fighting corruption.

“We have put in place the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (ERPG) to put the country on a path of sustained recovery and growth,’’ he said. It is well known that one of the things Nigerians and Ghanians argue about on Social Media especially on Twitter is about, which country has the best Jollof rice.

Well, it looks like former Minister for Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has resurrected the argument again.

Fani-Kayode in his statement called on Ghanians to leave Jollof Rice for Nigerians.

He said, “How can anyone say that Ghanaian jollof rice is better than Nigerian jollof? This is a travesty of justice! They should stick to their kenke, banku and fufu and leave the jollof for us!”
