Hello Nairaland,

I am seeking advice on relocating to either or Canada at the beginning of next year. I currently work remotely as the sole UI/UX designer for a tech company in Nigeria. I am married and in my late 20s. The idea of relocating has been on my mind for a few months now, and I have seriously been considering leaving the country. I hold a degree in Electrical Engineering.

A friend suggested that I could move through a study program, but I am not sure if I can focus on academics at the moment. I am keen to hear how others have successfully and legitimately relocated. My wife is insistent that I shouldn’t leave the country without her, so I am planning for both of us to move together.

I would appreciate any advice on how to proceed with relocating to either or Canada. If you prefer to share detailed information privately, my email is in my signature.

It's easy to set operating current of a buck converter if the load is resistive / inductive such as a led bulb or motor, but for a battery, it's quite tricky.

The constant current provided by the buck changes in tandem with the battery voltage level. If the battery is low let's say at 10.5v, the buck will deliver a high constant current. As the battery is nearing full charge @ around 12v, the buck delivers a low constant current.

For simplicity sake, just tweak the current trimmer clockwise to the max level till you start hearing some clicks from the trimmer, set your charging voltage, and put a cooling fan above your buck converter to prevent damage from overheating.

Doing this will not make your buck converter to burn out irrespective of the solar power rating supplied to it.

Bulk doesn't have the ability to regulate its preset voltage with respect to battery voltage when using it as a charger.

He went to the house, saw swimming pool, saw bushbar, saw duplex/luxury. He call me say boss that client na bigman, i no fit do am for 70k again, na 150k i go collect. I ignored him, got another installer to do it for 60k. Job is a couple of months old now, no wahala no complain. Like i said, na u get ur price, u fit call 2million to install 8 s. Appendix operation na 70k for general hospital, same operation na 400k for private. Coke na 250naira for street, for club na 3000naira.Life na choice.

You will have to rely on what the seller is telling you

We ended up mounting the 9pcs of 580w s on the roof.
Just I and emeritus D great .

Low-key I was looking for who would assist us considering I was on the roof (asbestos) and emeritus on the ground. But it seem emeritus has finally put his weight lifting to good use .

Earlier on the 1st of May, I visited this site to survey it before heading to leventies. We completed the job over there and commenced the job on this current location.

On this day we prepared the protection system (the earth pit) @brightk brought in a colleague from PHCN that supervised the whole procedure and Standard.
(Modified: we made use of gem, although the PHCN guy was not in agreement with us, he like money whey I fit use chop , then he shared an alternative they used, cow dung and dongoyaro leaves. Surprise? So I was)

After the whole preparations, it started raining and we called it a day.

We just dash the ladder owner free money .

I got in with my journeyman and we started preparing the mounting rack ( we used interlock aluminium profile for this job, from experience I think they have better stability when trying to nail them into the roof)

We did some calculations to manage material my oga you dey owe me . So we ended up using 3pcs of aluminium profile to mount 8pcs of the 550w solar .

Preparing the railing was not the problem self, pulling the s up the roof was too stress full (all my body done break forget I said I was made for this 😭😭).

There where some many challenges with the ridge board has broken and some of the wood.

So we had to swap position (who dem dey lead sometimes no know Wetin leader they see) with me myself taking the most risky position on the roof.
We dont have pictures of the process just minor clips here and there.

But am grateful, am able to come back to this thread to document it

Who re this 2 storey we worked on earlier?
We went back to that same location, but this time around we are to remove the solar s and re-install them.

Initially the scope of the job was to bring it down totally then raise it back up.
I was like that is a lot of risk I will be exposing my team to(as we dey find money we still dey pray to see the next day Hale and hearty).

We discussed with the carpenter and came to a compromise that we will move the items around then roof simultaneously as they worked.

28th April 2024.

A colleague of mine reached out to me that there was a government project that needed to be executed before on Monday.

Been familiar with government projects timing, I wasn't expecting it to be as soon as possible(i was informed on Thursday).

On Saturday the 27th, 8 able and capable bodied men headed out to Benin to commence the project.

We arrived Benin by at around 12pm, then boarded another bus to our apartment (yes there was provision for accommodation, but it was very far from the location that we had just spent a night then ditched it).

We used the opportunity to get all the railing, nails and bolts for the installation

On Sunday, the job commenced .
The weather was not friendly at all as we worked under the harsh weather conditions ( we were trying to meet up with the commissioning date which was Monday 29th 2024)

We worked day and night, because we were to mount 48pcs of solar 420w solar s(10kwp of PV per location), 2pcs 15kwh felicity lithium battery and 4pcs of 7.5kva inverter at 2 different people location.

I have attached some images of the day and night life of the job.

One good thing this job did was expose me to other ways of mounting bigger wattage of s, because brainstorming and coming to agreement took a whole lot of time but it was worth every part of it.

We finally ended up going or a 1.5kva inverter 12v, 1pcs tubular battery and 3pcs 300w solar .

As usual we headed out myself and emeritus D great.

Before then I had supplied the almighty 60A powmr mppt solar charge, (I still have a unit available in warri if you need it).

The client procured his solar s, wire then he reached us out again for the installation.

As usually we delivered.

Before we started, we had doubt that the space available on the roof will be sufficient, after so many back and forth, we delivered it as usual

Please professional help me I just install 2.4kw pure sinewave mercury hybrid inverter using it with dstv xtraview decoder, the primary decoder working perfectly but the secondary decoder didn't work and loss connection with the primary decoder heart beat. But using it with grid or generator works perfectly for both decoder but when switch to inverter it loss connection, please help me

yes, I used savaged mtn lumos samsung 18650 cells. Its a 24v system, 7s configuration to be precise.

Today marks 2 years of my going off grid with my DIY 11kwh lithium ion built battery bank! This guy powers my 2 airconditioners, electric cooker, 2 freezers n 1 fridge, water pumping machine sumo, pressing iron, microwave, tvs, laptops, water heater, and every other electric gadget u can think of. Please what's wrong with my setup. I've presently assembled 3S3P li-ion battery( while waiting for more batteries) with 3S 40A bms, with the cell all balanced. But anytime its fully charged to 12.6v (I'm only charging solar for now), the voltage then start fluctuating at 13.8v, 13.9v, 14.1v.
But when I checked the actual battery voltage (bying the bms) I noticed charging has been cut off and it was around 12.55v then.

But anytime it starts fluctuating due to charging disconnect, once I put a reasonable load on it, it adjust itself and displays 12.6v.

Please what could be the issue, I've tested 2 3S 40A bms, it's the same.

Could it be my solar charge controller

Definitely it's a charge controller issue.

I have an issue like this on ground.
I am thinking of a way out( I think it happens mostly on this pwm controller reason is you can't set it) if you find solutions let us know

Ok im in porthacourt, i called a technician to check it, he said the problem is from the driver card, which is not readily available now.

Avoid solar generators at all cost. I mean a solar component that has both inverter and controller affixed in one board is total rubbish.
