Hi,
Please check your contract which you signed with the hospital well before you proceed.
In some contracts, it is stated expressly that the hospital will not make refunds in the event that the patient stayed less than the contracted number of days...
All the best as you decide.
Modele35:
Hello again,
I had my baby last year in Iowa and i had CS. I didnt stay up to the required number of days in the hospital i was fine and they said it was ok for me to go home so I checked out of the hospital earlier. i had asked for a refund verbally from the accts dept since a nurse had said they will refund if i dont stay up to 4days, accts said no that they cant refund. i recently heard of a testimony or two testimonies of refunds being given to people and I thought i should write the hospital. has anyone experienced this? any format? i dey find dollars this one wey dollar scarce ooo.. anyone help if u have had a refund..how did u do it? Thanks

Per adding infant ticket:
Heres a guide for you. By God's grace youll be successful like myself and the other mums who used it. Cheers!
Nnystc:

Okay guys.
I was going to post this on my return, as part of a fancy 'missionary journey' post... once I settled down... But that day when I finally settle down doesn't seem to be near the horizon (been sleeping like someone on drugs!). And I realized that the more I wait, the worse for those who may have benefitted. So here goes:
I was able to reduce my infant ticket from earlier quotes of $469 (one way ticket) and $593 (return ticket with option of claiming back cost of one leg).
My flight was on KLM.
How did I do it?
After all the grammar they were speaking, I got inspiration from above to do the following:
1- search flights originating from your departure airport (in my case LA-Lagos-LA). These flights are cheaper than Lagos-LA-Lagos, and as baby is an American citizen, you are within his rights to do this.
2- Baby's departure date should be the same date you're leaving US.
3- For Baby's return date, search the airline website for the cheapest date you can find no matter how close or far apart the outward and return dates are.
4- once you get a good combination, call the airline and tell them you want to add your baby to your ticket. If they ask for the itinerary, give them the dates you have searched. They should then give you a cost of 10% of that booking cost.
If they tell you no seat, be ready to defend ya case. Baby is a lap infant and doesn't need seat, you just want to take advantage of the good deal you found.
5- if they ask questions be ready to defend your position. In my case they asked how will baby use the return leg? My response was that I will either book my ticket to tally with his return leg when the time comes, or claim a refund on that leg, or allow the ticket to lapse if I'm unable to travel on his return date.
6- If you get a good rate pay IMMEDIATELY! No dulling!
After doing this my final ticket cost for baby was $91.66 and it was a non-refundable ticket but I didn't mind.
So far this worked for me on KLM and for another NL mum (who I shared the info with) traveling on BA.
I want to believe it should work for other airlines too.
So ladies, all the best as you try this. Make sure you come and give your testimony when it works for you oh!!!
Ogz and kizzez!!

Hi,
Its common knowledge that a one way ticket is always more expensive than return. On a given day, a one way ticket can cost more than the entire return ticket. So naturally, return is preferred.
If you prefer one way, then by all means...
Niksie:
@Nnystc @Oye84 Thanks for the info. please is it that one-way ticket they wanted to offer wont work @10% too. i just want to know why one should insist on return ticket.

Great Oye84
Now we have 3 testimonies. KLM, Air, BA
I hope that others who need tickets can follow through with the guide and patiently keep calling till they hit success. We know its not gonna be easy, and patience is needed to argue your case with them and get them to issue the ticket at the price point you need, but nothing good comes easy as we know...
I can imagine being on hold for 10 minutes...
Cheers

oye84:
Thanks Temi
I was able to book my baby’s ticket exactly as you advised with Air for $86.
I was told I had to book a one-way ticket when I made the first call and despite my insistence, the lady said it was not possible and I told her Thank you and dropped the call.
I immediately dialled again and the lady this time also first gave me the one-way ticket story and I insisted she double-checked and she then came back after keeping on the line for like 10 minutes and said I could book a return ticket for $86. Also, while she said she was double checking, I was already praying seriously in tongues and I know God did it.
I need to also mention that when I called the first time, I was connected to Delta airline SC and the second number I dialled connected me to Air SC. I earlier got three different numbers at the airport when I arrived Houston.

1- which airline?
2- which of their offices are you calling? Lagos or US? You should be callling their US office oh, not Nigeria office.
3- I bought my ticket direct from the airline. I honestly dont know if this will work if ticket was bought from agents: wakanow orvtravelstart, etc.
4- youll have to be persistent. In my case i made over 7 calls to achieve success. In one instance i was told that i got through to an agent had to ask the agent to help me with a number to reach KLM directly.
In my case, i had used one leg of the ticket already, i just asked them to add infant ticket to the return leg, and i can add another ticket to babys return leg when next im coming, or allow babys return leg to lapse.
Keep trying oh nne.
Persistence pays
Cheers and all the best!

@nnystc
I have called them again today. Told them I want to book my dotas ticket for x date to and x date fro. Dey say OK. Wat is my own reservation number to add baby. Wen I giv dem dey start with d one way story. BT if return its d low amount. But the rule says they must attach baby to an adult and DAT I av flown lag to Houston of my ticket. So its either I pay 467 or I buy my return ticket at d 8xx and get the low amount.
Don't they ask for ur confirmation number to add baby?
Same no I can't add baby at DAT price story.
Please did u just book your ticket afresh or dats d same ticket u came with.
I av been on this since I gave birth in sept. Y are they insisting I pay that high.

I'm assuming your ticket has been booked long ago. So just search for baby's ticket only. Search it out like an adult ticket because the baby's ticket is 10% of that ticket that you find. search for 1adult ticket only. Not 1 adult + 1 infant. Make sense?
TripleKMama:
As one cannot book only infant ticket, how do u do dis? BA says infant can't travel solo so u must add adult to it. I got $1200 for both infant & adult, return ticket- does this mean baby's ticket wil be $120? Pls help explain. Thanks lots

The man enter one chance. He must have thought that a "helpless" preggy mama was easy prey...
Mine was on the reverse side.
When i arrived our MMIA on Monday night, the trolley boys were like: "Madam, you need to hold something small for the customs guys so they won't stress you"
Me: I dont have anything left o. I just gave you my last 2.5k for hiring the big luggage trolley.
Trolley boy: ok, why not bring out something small like $20 to give them so that they can let you go?
In my mind I'm like WTH??!!? Are these guys living in a silo or what? $20? Thats N10k... Is it that he didn't know or he was high on something?
I marched him to the exit and when i was stopped, I told the customs guy that in case they are not aware, our ATM cards are no longer delivering dollar cash to us outside the country, so i couldn't even buy them the "chocolates" they are expecting...
The guy then realised that he was dealing with an "alaye" like himself.
The next thing i heard was "Madam na wah for you oh, dey go jor" >
TripleKMama: Extra

After d 45mins wait at secondary inspection,I went to baggage claim. Saw my luggage & one trolley man came. I also saw d other smaller carts but I didn't have any coin as is done in UK nor did I have smaller dollar denominations.
After I went to pee, tried my Atm cards to no avail, I realized it was such a short distance. I truly would hav done it myself but I was rily tired and didn't mind d Help. First thing I askd d Guy was how much? He said wotever comes from my Hrt. Dats wen I knew I Had entered American one chance. You're right sha. They do take same cost for singleton an multiple births.
There are many other hospitals here in LA. I'm sure there are still cost effective ones out there.
Bisoye82:
Ok prophetess #just joking
At my first appointment in February 2016,Dr M told me to go and pay and with St Francis immediately or as soon as the next day because ownership of the hospital changed in Dec 2015 of which might reflect on the self pay fees at anytime.
I never went to Centinela because like someone said their personnel via phone is just not friendly/saucy.Moreover I entered Uber one day and the driver just assumed am using Centinela and he was like hope you have plenty money because that hospital is very costly
My take is even with the price increase St Francis is still cost effective because epidural, paediatrician visit @the hospital is still included in the package and they are not quick to send baby to NICU in order to make a fast buck.
Also for a twin mom they didn't charge for the second baby(am yet to see another hospital that does that).

Youre absolutely spot on.
1- i was made to pay for the hospital paediatrician visit when i went for baby follow up at the paediatricians office.
2- after leaving town, C hospital sent me a ridiculously huge bill (above 3k) for epidural/ anaesth.
Fyorgyn:
Just spoke with Dr M office now...
This sudden price change na wa oh. I had gotten the price for centinella earlier but I think that st Fs may still be cheaper on the long run.
One advantage St f had for me is the no "surprise" charges...
The C hospital offers 3k for VD sans cost of paediatrician, anaesthesiologist and tests... so one is not sure of the total bill
Please can anyone who has used the C hospital tell us the total bill paid?
Thanks

Beat their maids
Is that even possible
Ok, perhaps its possible, especially for those who keep underage girls as maids...
I can't imagine beating up a 21+ year old girl... Or even an underage girl too for that matter...
For those of us using people as punching bags/ WWF practice, PLEASE DESIST Oh... Their own mums grew them from scratch too
Afterall, if not for hard times, who wants to go serving people in their houses?
Here in the US, such help is so scarce, and if you make "fim" with anybody's head, you will hear "nwii" from the government.. They will dash you SILVER BRACELET (handcuffs) first even before you begin to explain how she provoked you...
elfmann:
Don't mind them. All they shout here is DH DH. Most abuse their husbands verbally and emotionally. Oh only physical abuse is important and condemnable.
Nigerian women hate being beaten by their husbands or any man, but take joy in beating their maids! That is where men learn it.
After all living in fear is worse than in shame.

Congratulations Varvara.
1.5 months for birth certificate is not correct...
I had my baby at St Francis Hospital last week (September 2nd to be precise). The lady told me it takes 10 business days for birth certificate to be ready at the LA county office.
HOWEVER, i called the county yesterday 9th September, and i have confirmed that my birth certificate is ready. I will be collecting it on Monday 12th.
You should ask that she should book it as an expedited request.
Also if youre in a hurry, you should already book your port appointment... The open dates are going far into the future...
Varvara:
Hello, everybody !
I delivered baby 2 days ago in St. Francis Medical Center, LA. It was fast and hard we arrived in the hospital when I was 9 cm. it was second baby. They didn't have a chance to give me epidural. So they just told me . You will deliver right now !
I was surprised because I didn't feel my contractions on 9 cm..it was barely painful. Pushing was very hard for me. So dr M had to cut me and use vacuum to take out my baby girl. He explained that her head is big. Actually it's 37 cm. So dr M and pediatrician assured me that it doesn't affect her head and brain at all.
But in general I feel that I had better experience in MIHS 2 years ago then here. But it's fine , it's ok.
Besides, I have a question to LA moms. How can I get birth certificate faster ? Lady from records told me it took 1,5 months. Do you have any recommendation ? How to hurry up them?
