The fact is most stocks lost today! Not only insurance. Do your check.

Out of the 100+ stocks listed on NGX, only 19 recorded an increase in price.

Good afternoon everyone.

I already have an with one of the Nigerian stock brokers, but I want to open another which will be strictly for short term trading.

In summary, I want to be using one for short term trading, and the second for long term investment.

Please, How do I go about it?

I don't think there is any manipulation. Three things will explain this from the little I have learned in this market: (1) cross deal; (2) none of those on the top queue came from the same stock broker as the seller or sellers, no matter your position, a seller will first sell to the in house buyer on the queue no matter his position before selling to another buy on the queue too, (3 )That number one you are seeing there is not actually the number person, the real number buyer may have had his quantities partially filled and he is then move away from the front to the bottom for the next person to be number one, but the original number one person must finish his quantities before that present number one will get his. So it is possible for you to be number 1 at a particular point in time but another person before you will be receiving first.

I hope this haphazard explanation clears you. grin

I had a similar experience too last week. I was the 7th person on the seller list, and my order was filled even before the first 6 people before me. Never knew that was possible until that day.

Lessons from the greatest day trader of all time.

https://www.pdfdrive.com/reminiscences-of-a-stock-operator-with-new-commentary-and-insights-on-the-life-and-times-of-jesse-livermore-d194228224.html

Jesse Livermore, a legendary day trader, lived a life of triumph and turmoil. Born in 1877, Jesse grew up in a poor farming family. At 14, he began working as a quotation boy at a Boston brokerage firm, sparking his fascination with markets.

Jesse's early success came quickly, earning $10,000 by age 20. He moved to New York, trading aggressively, and by 1907, he had amassed $3 million. However, his hubris led to a devastating loss of $200,000 in a single day.

Undeterred, Jesse rebuilt his fortune, only to lose it again in the 1910 market crash. He filed for bankruptcy, but his determination drove him to start anew.

The 1920s brought Jesse's greatest triumphs. He short-sold the market before the 1929 crash, earning $100 million. His instincts proved correct, and he became a Wall Street legend.

Yet, Jesse's personal life suffered. He married four times, struggled with alcoholism, and faced legal issues. In 1940, at 63, Jesse Livermore took his own life, leaving behind a complex legacy.

His story serves as a cautionary tale of market volatility, personal demons, and the fleeting nature of success.

Some key takeaways from Jesse Livermore's life:

1. Market instincts: Trust your instincts, but stay disciplined.
2. Risk management: Set limits to avoid devastating losses.
3. Resilience: Learn from failures and adapt.
4. Humility: Success can be fleeting; stay grounded.
5. Personal life: Balance professional success with personal well-being.
Jesse Livermore's life was a rollercoaster of triumph and tragedy, serving as a reminder of the importance of balancing market prowess with personal stability.

Your inputs are always like mentorship session for me.

Thank you so much!

Effects of artificial pricing, sell at 10% below the market price you should be able to get buyers

Thank you so much.

I actually tried to do that, unfortunately I received an alert that I can't set a price below the lowest price currently offered by the other sellers.

I would advise you to be patient as you have placed your offer and is your offer price the least offer price

Thank you so much.

I tried selling for a lower price, but it wasn't executed. So, I had to fix the same price as the 90% other sellers.

Good evening everyone. Thank you so much for the insightful inputs hitherto.

Please, I've been trying to sell some of my Geregu stocks for the past 3 days, unfortunately I've not received any offer since. There is no demand for it at the moment.

Is there any other way I can offload the stocks?

Confession time!!! grin

Kickstarting my investment journey in the NGX is one of the best decisions I made this year.

I discovered that my appetite for irrational spending has drastically reduced.

I now find myself thinking like an investor. Spending quality time to research about companies and also investing where necessary.

This is a significant achievement for me, honestly!

Thank you all for the daily reports, analysis, and contribution. I always find them helpful.

In addition or alternative to ing on Registrars portals for E-Dividend mandate, you can also on the E-DMMs portal launched by SEC in July to mandate your E-Dividends.

Here's the SEC link:
https://sec.gov.ng/revamped-e-dividend-mandate-management-system-portal/

You can them if you need more clarifications or you have enquiries.

Thank you so much!

Yes. You will need to fill a Registrar's form for the stocks you have as a beginner, submit and get confirmation that your form has been mandated to receive dividends.

A good thing now is that, you may not need to fill different Registrar's form because of the automated window adopted by SEC now.
You details can always be picked by other Registrars for payment of future dividends to you.

Another good thing is that, some Registrars now have online E-Dividend Activation Form which you can fill and submit online on their portal.......AFRIPRUD, APEL, part of them.

Thank you so much

I really appreciate this.

Please, on which platform do you monitor stock prices live?
The ones available to me at the moment appear to delay updates for 60minutes.

Merci
