If your baby sleeps the flight would be a good one. My spouse and I are fully vaccinated so the only time we had to show proof was at Nigerian airport and when ing for ArriveCAN

crespo67:
Wow...Big Congrats. Thank God for the smooth journey. Also gonna be travelling to Ottawa soon with a 9 months old baby. Though I intend using KLM. I am low key dreading that long flight with a baby..but I know it will definitelygo great. Are you fully vaccinated? Were you asked to show proof of vaccination at Toronto?

Glad I could help, yes the food isn’t suited to our taste buds but not too bad overall.

Yup. Welcome to Canada

Allegory:

Wow I’m hoping to go Ottawa too and travelling with an infant too so thanks for all the tips. I think I’d be using BA too when the time comes because your journey feels pretty straightforward. Though I like good food on flights but British people won’t know good food if it hit them in the face grin. What matters is that Welcome to Canada cheesy Goodluck in Canada

you don’t need transit visa if you’re only stopping in Heathrow
Aibisoye0:

Congratulations....did you get transit visa to fly via UK or you already had a visit visa?
Mstomie: 8:18am On Apr 19, 2022
Landing gist
Abuja- Heathrow- Toronto - Ottawa
Left with BA on the 17th April, family of 3. Check in went smoothly- we had 5 check in bags, 2 hand luggage, 1 diaper bag and a travel system stroller combo. My advice it’s best to check in every single bag that you can , BA will check in your hand luggage for free so it’s something to consider ‍♀️.

Abuja-Heathrow leg was smooth, we left about 20-30mins late but still left us with enough time to meet the connecting flight to Toronto. The food was ‘meh’ in my opinion but I’ll advise that you take the mail English breakfast option because the other meal option looked like to me.

Got to Heathrow and after about an hour wait we boarded to Toronto (this flight felt super long to me) but 7 hours after we entered our new country .

Went to immigration where we had to first do the self service port scanning for declaration of items- cash value you’re coming in with, if you had meat, milk, fish and the likes, the machine gives you a slip. I had milk on me but it’s for my baby so I didn’t declare it.

Took the slip to the first leg immigration where we handed over our COPR and port for stamping and filling address where we want our PR card shipped to. Then we were told “welcome to Canada”

We were sent to border control to fill a form regarding the amount we brought in, but it was nothing serious.

Went to check in for our connecting flight to Ottawa with Westjet, the flight was delayed due to various reasons but we eventually landed Ottawa and got picked up by family. Omo the cold is real, forget all the talk about spring weather. Buy better jacket when you’re coming.

P.s Travelled with an infant (9months) so when booking we got a bassinet seat, so she could be comfortable. I was able to carry water on all legs of the trip cause of making the baby’s food (the water was tested at Toronto)
We booked directly with BA at Transcorp cause we were particular about getting the bassinet seat.

hi, have you been able to send the port photograph?
1cor2v9:

I don't know, see below address, maybe it's that of vfs ghana
Mstomie: 5:33am On Mar 12, 2022
not true, I’m actually in the same boat but my own mail came in yesterday (Friday). The mail came directly from Accra Hugh commission.

Called vfs Ghana and they told me to send the port photograph directly to the high commission since they were the ones who requested for it.

Sent it yesterday evening.
tshtsh:

I believe it was VFS accra that requested for your port picture as I don't think IRCC will accept an application without a port photo
Mstomie: 4:28pm On Feb 22, 2022
I sent mine on the 14th of February through Abuja vfs
1cor2v9:

When did you send yours?
I sent mine through lagos vfs on 8th Feb and got an update yesterday that it arrived Accra.

Hello,

1. If you are going as a PR/ Student you don’t need a return ticket, one way is fine

2. PTA can only be sold with a return ticket (except if you are student with scholarship, but this isn’t sold very often)

3. For flight, people say Ethiopian airline is moderately priced.

4. I’m team book straight on the airline’s website but you can also reach out to an agent and compare prices.

Jeffi7:
Good afternoon all.

1. Is it advisable to book one way ticket flight to Canada as finances is tight for now or two way ticket, does it have any implications ?

2. Can one apply for PTA with a one way ticket when traveling ?

3. Which airlines is advisable to fly with to Canada that is good and the ticket price is moderate?

4. What is the best way to book flights? Through agent, website or app ?

Thanks

hi hi,

Any update / movement on your port.

I sent mine in as well from Abuja and there’s no update yet except the tracking ID.
Omobabalandlord:
Hello Team
I got ppr on the 27th of January 2022
Sent my port to Abuja VFS office via dhl.
I got an email with the tracking number from vfs on the 1st February 2022.
It’s been like 2 weeks and no email from vfs.
Should I be worried as anytime I keep tracking my port, I get the message still in transit.
Any idea on the timeframe for port submitted at Abuja office
Also any idea on how I can the Abuja VFs office
Thanks

Hello, I also sent in my port that same day and I’m yet to get any update. Is that the same case for you?

Funjay:

Have you gotten any now? From the little I know, it could take up to 3-4wks and in some cases 6wks before you have your port back with visa. Please keep us in the know so that we can have your time frame from submission to having your port back.
You can VFS via their phone no and chat option on their website. I dont think they will get in touch with you again until they have your port back from AVO. Rumour has it that Abuja is even faster than Lagos VFS office.
I sent mine to them on Vals day and I have my fingers crossed.
The wait is almost over bro, take your mind off it and keep yourself engaged with preparation for landing.

All the best.
Mstomie: 1:13am On Feb 16, 2022
I don’t think the person has a reason to be worried, I got an updated request for a police certificate and got PPR a week after ing it. The earlier your friend s the faster they’ll get ppr.

reniduke:
Good day house, someone i know applied since 2019 October. Received an update email in 2020 that their application was approved, but COPR could not be issued cos of COVID. long story short, the medicals expired and had to be redone and new medicals have now been accepted by IRCC .
The issue we now have is that they received a request for police certificate today. We find this odd since Police certificate was provided back when the application was submitted and I do not know of anyone who had to resubmit theirs. Although there is no issue getting another one, we are worried it will further delay the application. Has anyone experienced this before?

Favouredcanadia:

I didn't get any mail to that effect, my friend in Canada just kept checking his mailbox until it was delivered.

Mstomie: 7:58pm On May 17, 2019
Isn't UPS for when you choose the paid delivery option?

kfrosh:
You're supposed to receive a mail from UPS concerning delivery. Why don't you try sending them a mail now, they usually reply within 2 working days.
Mstomie: 6:13pm On May 17, 2019
I choose the standard delivery option to a Canadian address. Will give them a call by Monday as they don't take calls on Fridays.

MsJanez01:

Did y choose courier option for delivery? Dats when you should expect a mail if not call their office to be sure if its been dispatched to your address but ordinarily they dispatch once concluded
Mstomie: 2:30pm On May 17, 2019
I'm back o, for those people that used ICES for evaluation did you get any email indicating that your evaluation was done and will/has been dispatched?.

I checked my profile today and I saw that my evaluation has been complete but I'm yet to get an email or anything about delivery.

The job was with an NGO

This was the job description, I asked on here and I was advised that it's most likely NOC 1123.

What do you think ?

joo2018:
"Paid" and "volunteer" together are really not compatible for this process.

Graduate intern is good. The key is your NOC.

Mstomie: 2:45pm On May 16, 2019
Yes I looked into it, but I'm just a bit worried about the employment requirement and I don't have a degree in public relations.

beeodun:

Have you checked out NOC 1123 sis?
@ans123-yeah?
Mstomie: 2:26pm On May 16, 2019
Yes, it was actually a paid volunteer position for about 6 months. I want to claim experience for it since I was paid but I feel like graduate intern might be the best way to word the job title (I also think I was given an internship certificate would need to go search for it).

joo2018:
Pls clarify. Is it internship after graduation?
