Switzerland banned Islamic head coverings starting January 1st 2025 via referendum.
ers of a people’s initiative to ban face coverings in public have carried the vote with a majority of 51.2%.
A decade after another national vote that banned the building of minarets, Switzerland will introduce a clause in its constitution to outlaw face coverings, including the Islamic burka and niqab, in public spaces.
In doing so, it will five other European countries, including neighbours and Austria, who have already banned such garments in public.

Exceptions to the law will include face coverings for reasons of security, climate, or health – which means protective masks worn against Covid-19 are acceptable. Niqabs and burkas will still be allowed in places of worship.

Final results on Sunday showed just six of the country’s 26 cantons rejecting the initiative, which was launched by the right-wing Egerkinger committee – the same group who were behind the minaret vote in 2009.

Turnout was just over 50%, a little above average.

DSTV is currently complaining that subscribers have dropped massively in Nigeria.

So you people were serious when you said you will stop subscribing?

Thoughts on this ?

Multichoice Blames Nigeria’s Economy For Decline In DStv Subscribers

African Pay-TV operator, Multichoice Group, has blamed Nigeria’s economy as DStv active subscribers in the country declined by 18 per cent.

The company stated this on Wednesday in its financial result for the year, which ended March 31, 2024.

It said the decline in Nigeria affected its overall subscriber database leading to a 9 per cent decline for the year.

The total subscription figure for Nigeria was not stated as it is lumped with other operating units outside South Africa tagged as ‘Rest of Africa’ (RoA).

Multichoice reported that the 18% decline in Nigeria brought the RoA’s total active subscribers down by 13% to 8.1 million from 9.3 million in 2023.

The group’s 9% decline in active subscribers was mainly due to a 13% decline in the Rest of Africa business as mass-market customers in countries like Nigeria had to prioritise basic necessities over entertainment, while the South African business showed more resilience with a 5% decline.

“The Nigerian economy and consumers faced persistent challenges through FY24. The removal of fuel subsidies, sharp currency depreciation with the official naira halving in value, inflation climbing to over 30%, and higher emigration of the middle and upper class drove an 18% YoY decline in active subscribers,” the company said.

Multichoice added that this also reduced Nigeria’s contribution to the Rest of Africa revenues from 44% to 35%.

It noted, however, that Ghana saw a similar subscriber trend given an inflation rate that is still above 20 per cent.

Multichoice further stated that due to the challenging market dynamics, the short-term focus of its RoA (Nigeria, Angola, Kenya, Ghana, and Zimbabwe) business was shifted from subscriber growth to safeguard profitability and cash flows.

“Several cost-saving initiatives were implemented, including scaling back significantly on decoder subsidies (-46% YoY or ZAR1.3 billion), and reducing selling, general, and istrative (SG&A) costs by ZAR500 million. These interventions enabled the Rest of Africa business to increase trading profit by 48% YoY to ZAR1.3 billion,” it said.

Recall that Ahead of the implementation of Multichoice’s new subscription prices on May 1, a Competition and Consumer Protection Tribunal (CT) sitting in Abuja issued an order restraining the company from implementing the new prices based on a case filed by a Nigerian customer.

LEADERSHIP reported that Multichoice ignored the court order and implemented the new prices which prompted the Tribunal to slam a N150 million fine on the company for challenging the jurisdiction of the court.

The verdict delivered by three of the led by Thomas Okosu, also ordered Multichoice to give Nigerians a one-month free subscription on DSTV and GOTV.

Mature advice only please.
I will keep this very short.
There is this her colleague she talks about almost all the time. He is also married. I became curious and decided to go through her WhatsApp chats with this guy. I saw in thier chats selfie pics she sends to him (normal selfie pics), and the one that really got to me is the part he invited my wife to come over and "lets make babies" according to him. But her reply was "No I can't, your hands are full"....Please who can decode this her reply to him?....I confronted her but she denied ever having anything to do with him beside been colleagues. But my worry is why chat flirty chats with a guy and what would give him the mind to ask her to come over and .......... Please I need mature advice only

On Sunday of St Augustine of Hippo Chapel at Kongo campus of Ahmadu Bello University Zaria held mass on open ground after the school authority denied them access to the hall they've been using in the last 15 years. The church building has been in existence since late 80s...fast forward to 2006, the Director of the campus gave a notice to the church that they want that same spot to be converted to a car park. After various protests from the catholic church, The church building was eventually demolished, the Catholics where promised a new site within the campus to build thier church. But at the meanwhile, they where allowed to make use of the School hall. 15 years later, the new site was never approved and the catholics have been stopped from worshipping in the school hall. So its either they worship outside or leave the school premises.

This is my story, I will try to be brief.
I came to Jos to run a project for a telecommunication company, which is meant to last for approximately 3 months. (this is my first time in Jos). Last week Friday, as soon as I stepped out of my hotel to go to my site, my wife called and insisted I go back and read Psalm 91 before heading for work. She insisted I do that cos she was having a bad feeling that day. Although I tried to convince her cos I was late, but she insisted which I later obliged. Fast forward to around 4pm, I boarded a Keke to go get some materials in the popular terminus market. I was the first person to board the Keke, suddenly, 2 men jumped into the Keke from both ends, and that's all I could ,. The next thing I woke up and saw myself in an uncompleted building with my both legs tied and lying on the floor. I noticed there were 3 other men lying in the floor with both legs tied as well. I began to hear one of them saying today we would kill this one referring to me. Later on at around 8pm, someone came in assuming that person to be thier leader, flashed his touch light on us and asked "who is this one" still reffering to me and one of them answered "we brought him here today", then he replied please take him out of here, I don't need him (immediately I ed the Psalm 91 I recited that morning) , they chased me out of their premises. Now it was very dark, and their building was deep in the middle of nowhere. I had to trekk for about 400m before I got to the main road, there I stopped an on coming vehicle who assisted in dropping me at the closest popular bus stop and found my way home..Only God knows who those men are, kidnappers, ritualists?.. Only God knows....lets always commit our day to God before stepping out and coming back home, no matter how busy we are, we should always find a place for God.... To God be the glory for ever and ever.
Please move this to the front page.. Thanks

As seen
Hello Mr David. Sometimes I feel like Killing my 4 yr old son. Since that child was born, I haven't been able to have Sex with my wife at home. He doesn't allow it. I am not joking. I have not had sex with my wife at home since his birth. We plan to have sex outside though. In hotels and on short trips during weekends, without the boy. But not in our own matrimonial bed. 4 yrs ago, I was anticipating my son's birth. Mr Dave, meeting my baby for the first time was one of the most memorable experiences of my life. Becoming his father was a big adjustment for me, but I did not know was also going to encounter unexplainable hatred for him in addition. He is always holding his mother's breast 3 months after the gift of fatherhood, it hit me that I wanted to resume having Sex with my wife. The urge was so Strong ,I wanted it ASAP.I discussed it with my wife and we were both on board. The moment we started kissing, he started crying. My wife had to move to him. That evening, when I tried removing my wife's underwear, he started to cry again. Ah. The thing bi say, the moment my wife attends to him, she totally forgets about me. The crying during attempted sex continued for a week. One day,I asked my wife not to mind him and rather let us have sex. She was a few seconds in giving me hot bj when BOOM, something fell. We rushed to check and it was our baby. He had fallen from his court. He cried so hard; my testosterone level dropped from 9 to-2055. My libido dipped for 4 months straight. I went on a guilt trip because I thought it was my fault. When he was 6 months old, I tried to have sex again with my wife in our bedroom. The moment the baby sensed his mother's vibe with me, he started his drama. We locked our bedroom door. But he stopped us 5 minutes later. He swallowed a coin and almost died. The evil boy has swallowed or tried swallowing TV remote battery, pins, crayons, buttons, pepper, broken glass, wood, metals etc. just to prevent me from having Sęx with his mother. He broke my TV when he was 2 yrs, cut himself with the knife to bleed, turned on the gas cooker and almost lit a match. In a nutshell Mr Dave, I am tired of practicing patience with that evil child.I don't know what to do. Now that he goes to school, I still can't have sex with my wife at home because our phones ring and it's his teachers. Anytime we want to have s he collapses at school or swallows something sharp and bleeds.Am I the only parent with such a child?
Help push to FP the person might be here looking forward to your advices..

We should not whip up sentiments as educated people, all lands in Nigeria are vested in the state government.

Some Nigerians engage in outright lawlessness selling lands that do not belong to them especially when it comes to "government" land which are lands state government gave to Federal to utilize and for some reason remains unutilized for that specific purpose.

The state government can wake up anyday and take back such lands even when some people have sold it out to others who have developed it.

In any case if the courts are open and could be approached to seek redress where possible.

You are right, but then why issue c of o to the areas under disputes?

You cannot win our sympathy online by mentioning churches or mosques. You should post the copies of the notice letters given and who actually owns the land.
If you feel agrieved genuinely, seek redress in a court of law against Aviation Tech.
All the keyboard warriors - sorry cowards- that will write trash to massage your sentiment are actually toothless bulldogs.

It is my prayer that one day you will meet thesame fate... If it doesn't happen to you, your children and children's children will suffer thesame fate... The devil in Elrufai gave a 24 hours notice for people to vacate their houses...The land disputes with College of Aviation is still in court, why then go ahead to demolish the settlement?.. Why where C of O given by kaduna state govt, and finally why is Elrufai meddling in a federal institute... What are the motives.... Pleaee help me answer these questions... Not to come here talking trash

A BLACK DAY!

It is pertinent to establish that,I am writing an eye witness , being a resident, a victim & associate victim of worst carnage I have ever seen on the surface of the earth.
God in his infinite mercies granted his people a vast land and in appreciation to Him we called it GRACE LAND here in Zaria behind College of Aviation Technology.

Last night at about 10pm,the devil struck with his usual instruments of demolition! The worst evil act I have ever seen! The worst form of demolition in the history of Kaduna State!

As an eye witness, a victim (A victim because my Church has been demolished in our very eyes!) A victim because my friends, neighbors houses were demolished in our very eyes etc.

For the purpose of clarity & understanding, the following structures were razed down without recourse to justice & base on some oral sources from experts in Urban & Regional Planning;

1.An estimated of 500 structures stands demolished.Out of which;

2.Seven Churches of not less than 500 seating capacities were demolished.

3.Two Mosques of at most 30 seating capacities were demolished.

4.Bethel Church is the biggest Church in Graceland, Zaria in of landmass & population with its Bible School & Secondary School was demolished.

The demographic characteristics of the settlement are lecturers of ABU,Zaria, FCE,Zaria, College of Aviation Tech,Zaria, Leather Research Institute, Zaria, FGGC,Zaria, Medical personnel of ABU Teaching Hospital, Zaria, staff of Nigeria Institute of Transport Tech,Zaria,Business men and women (100% Igbos) and the list goes on & on.And they called the settlement-GRACELAND!

The demographic personalities as mentioned turned the "desert" the most attractive place to stay in Zaria! Those that are conversant with Zaria know what I'm saying- very calm, peaceful and civilised.

The questions we must address are as follows even though some of which were addressed by the court.

1.Where was Aviation Tech. When the lands where sold & developed?
2.How comes certificate of ownership (C of Os) where issued?
3.Since collage of aviation tech.is a federal establishment why is Kaduna state government meddling & championing the course of demolition?
4.Where is the rule of law?
5.Is the movement a religious or ethnic war?etc
The above questions would serve as serves as a com to this study to enable us understand the legal, religion & economic implication to what exactly happed!

Now for record purpose. I am not writing stirs violence or uprising. We here in Graceland are law abiding fellows.Even when they were demolishing our structures we where only singing praises to our God according to our corporate & individual faiths.

What a lawless country that drives pleasure in inflicting pains & sorrows to its citizens!

For no reason El-Rufai decided to bring down people's houses...

So 10-15 trucks of fully armed soldiers where gathered in a small area of Graceland Zaria Kaduna state to supervise the bringing down of homes that is largely full of retired FG staffs who have laboured for 30-35 years in sweat and many have not even been given up to 4% of their retirement benefits since they left service…

Yet, 2 trucks of same armed uniform men can NEVER be sent to the southern part of the State to protect lives!!!

Graceland is a place made up of 80% Christians of which most of them are retired civil servants.

Elrufai decided to bring down those houses with a very short notice period.

Abdulrasheed Abdullahi Elsa posted:

500+ people houses are being taken Down by Kaduna state Govt in Graceland, Sabon-Gari, Zaria.

The report coming from Graceland, Aviation Zaria is really disheartening. In fact, terrible!

Demolition of innocent people hard earned houses is ongoing at the time you're reading this post.

Unfortunately, governor El-rufai care not to give a second thought on his senseless mission that will turn 200 thousands people homeless. Innalillahi

May God make it easy to the affected victims, amin.
