The Competition and Consumer Protection Tribunal (CT), sitting in Abuja, has awarded a fine of N150 million against MultiChoice Nigeria Limited, for disrespecting its restraining order.
In a unanimous decision on Friday, Saratu Shafii, who led two other of the tribunal (Thomas Okosun and Dr Umar Duhu), also ordered MultiChoice to provide Nigerians with a one-month free subscription on its DSTV and GOTV services.
The orders followed an ex-parte motion filed on behalf of MultiChoice subscribers by a legal practitioner, Mr Festus Onifade.
Meanwhile, the tribunal has fixed July 3, to hear the substantive suit against the company.
The CT had on April 29, restrained MultiChoice Nigeria Limited from effecting a planned tariffs hike on its products and services, on May 1.
Onifade had approached the tribunal, alleging that an eighth-day notice the respondent gave before hiking prices of its services, was grossly inadequate.
He contended that the tribunal had in its previous rulings, stressed that at least one month notice must be given to subscribers before such increase in prices of both DSTV and GOTV services could be effected.
Specifically, the Applicant, in the motion that was moved by his counsel, Ejiro Awaritoma, applied for, “an order of interim injunction of this honourable tribunal restraining the 1st defendant whether by themselves, her privies, assigns by whatsoever name called from going ahead with impending price increase schedule to take effect from 1st May, 2024, pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice.
“An order restraining the 1st defendant from taking any step(s) that may negatively affect the rights of the claimant and other consumers in respect of the suit pending the hearing and determination of the Motion on Notice.”
Cited as defendants in the suit marked: CT/OP/2/2024, were MultiChoice Nigeria Ltd and Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, FCC.
In its ruling, the tribunal granted the interim orders as prayed. It restrained Multi-Choice from proceeding with its scheduled price increase, pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice filed before it.
“The 1st defendant is hereby restrained from taking any step(s) that may negatively affect the rights of the claimant and other consumers in respect of the suit pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice”, it held.
But despite the restraining order, MultiChoice proceeded with its planned tariff hike, even as it challenged the jurisdiction of the tribunal to issue the interim orders against it.

Fears of reprisal permeated the popular Marian Market in Calabar and its environs following the alleged killing of a Hausa boy, allegedly by some rate-collecting agents.
The reported killing took place on Wednesday afternoon at the market when the rate agents accosted the boy.
The agents had asked him and his friends, who were returning from excavating rusted irons that were inside their wheelbarrow, to pay N100.
According to the market women who were eyewitnesses, the boys refused to pay the N100 rate paid by other hawkers, saying they were not hawking any wares but merely ing through the market.
The women said the rate agents would not hear any of such excuses from the boys and attempted to force them to part with the paltry amount.
The boys stood their ground, insisting they would not pay, and this led to a big fight.
“A fight ensued between the agents and the Hausa boys in the market. One of the agents brutally hit the Hausa boy and he died instantly. There was pandemonium all over the market as a result. The agents took to their heels,” a trader, Mrs Angelina Effiong, who sells second-hand clothes, explained.
The angry Hausa boys later evacuated the body of their kinsman to their settlement for burial yesterday, said another trader, Cyril Umoh.
As of Thursday, the uproar persisted as large numbers of the deceased kinsmen, armed with weapons, invaded the Marian market, looking for any of the rate collectors.
Sensing chaos and reprisals, several market women and bus drivers plying the route fled and abandoned the market.
The police authorities had deployed a good number of policemen to the market to save the situation.
According to police spokesperson Irene Ugbo: “We have security meetings every morning, but the issue was not mentioned. Seriously, I am not aware. However, I will find out and revert.”
There have been several complaints from traders about how the rate collectors commit atrocities, manhandle women traders, cart away their wares or outright destroy them.
The complaints and reports forced the state government to ban rate collection but the agents never adhered to the government directive.

He asked Nigerians to pray to God almighty to ease the burden on them as He is the only one with the power to offset the load on Nigerians

-Doyin Okupe, a former DG of the Labour Party's 2023 presidential campaign council, has expressed his iration for President Bola Tinubu
-Okupe said although the president is not succeeding immediately, he 'impressively' takes responsibility for the current economic hardship in Nigeria
-The former ally of presidential hopeful, Peter Obi, said it would be unfair to judge the Tinubu istration in one year
FCT, Abuja - Doyin Okupe, former director-general (DG) of the Labour Party (LP) presidential campaign in the 2023 election, has said "no istration in Nigeria has ever beaten the bullets that President Bola Tinubu beat".
Speaking in a recent interview on Channels Television's 'Political Paradigm', Okupe said for the past 20 years in Africa's most populous nation, "everybody has been dodging the bullet".
He, therefore, likened Tinubu, the 16th and current president of Nigeria, to Jesus Christ of Nazareth.
His words:
“If he (Tinubu) did not announce it (the fuel subsidy removal), he would never have been able to do it. And he would have been forced by the media, labour, opposition, students, all sorts of people (not to) , with the fear of the hardship and the pain we are going to through and all that, he would never have been able to do it.”
Okupe continued:
“In heaven, when God said who is going to go for us? That is somebody has to come and be crucified for the world. And Jesus Christ said ‘send me’. That’s what Bola Tinubu has done. He has sent himself into this doldrum, into this financial and economic disaster that was on ground before he came. He is just trying to find a way out.”

This ban was announced by the Commander General of the board, Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa, at a meeting with the representatives of DJs in the state.
The Kano State Hisbah Board has banned male disc jockeys (DJs) from performing at female-dominated events in the state.
This ban was announced by the Commander General of the board, Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa, at a meeting with the representatives of DJs in the state.
The Hisbah Commander said the decision was necessary to prohibit the mixing of males and females during events, adding that only women would be allowed henceforth to officiate at women’s gatherings.
“As an Islamic state, it is unacceptable for us to allow the indiscriminate mixing of males and females at the same event. This is because this act can promote and spread immorality,” he was quoted by Daily Trust as saying.
He mentioned that another meeting had been held with the state's event facility owners and managers to educate them about the essential regulations governing their operations.
In his remarks, the DJs' representative, Ibrahim Abdullahi, also known as DJ Farawa, praised the board for inviting them and instructing them on the new criteria that the board had implemented to regulate their business.
He said, “We are happy with the invitation of the Hisbah board to our union of DJs. They have given us guidelines on the sanctity of prayer times during events, as well as the need to prevent the mixing of males and females during those events.”
Ibrahim noted that all DJs performing in the state must adhere to the new guidelines issued by the board to avoid being sanctioned.
He said, “This is why we are calling on all DJs to with our union in order to benefit from the guidelines that have been issued.”
He also warned that non-ed DJs performing in the state would not be protected by the union if found to have violated the Hisbah guidelines.

SaharaReporters gathered that Governor Oyebanji left Nigeria on Sunday, May 5, 2024 to attend the 16th edition of the US-Africa Business Summit organised by the Corporate Council on Africa (CCA), in Dallas, Texas between May 6 and 9, 2024.
The Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji has failed to return to Nigeria nearly two weeks after he left for a four-day conference in Texas, US.
The US trip was also announced in an official press statement put on the state government’s website.
The statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Mr Yinka Oyebode, said the summit, with theme, ‘US-Africa Business: Partnering for Sustainable Success’, is a platform for collaboration on trade, investment and innovation among Heads of national and sub-national governments; financial institutions, investors, agencies and institutions.
The statement said, “Governor Oyebanji will also participate in the nineteenth session of the United Nations Forum on Forests (UNFF19), holding at the UN Headquarters in New York.
“The Governor will take part in the Forum’s policy sessions on implementation of the UN Strategic Plan for Forests (UNSPF) alongside other invited Heads of state, senior officials of government, private sectors and stakeholders.
“Before returning to Nigeria, the Governor will also hold discussions with critical stakeholders and business leaders in the US in furtherance of the shared prosperity agenda of the istration.”
SaharaReporters gathered on Thursday that the governor was still in the US and there has been no official information providing the details of any official engagements or meetings held by the governor since the conference ended on May 9, beyond claims that Oyebanji would “hold discussions with critical stakeholders and business leaders in the US”.
There has no official information or provision of any pictures of meetings the governor held with the business leaders nor the names of such persons.
A source told SaharaReporters on Thursday that the governor was supposed to have returned but was surprised that he was still away.
SaharaReporters learnt Oyebanji was expected to receive the leadership of the Nigeria Institute of Architects (NIA), led by its President, Arc Mobolaji Adeniyi and the Architect Registration Council of Nigeria (ARCON) led by its President, Arc Dipo Ajayi; who were in the state for their annual extra ordinary general assembly meeting on Wednesday.
The delegation was however received by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr (Mrs) Habibat Adubiaro, who represented the governor and spoke on his behalf, saying, “Ekiti State, under my watch is witnessing rapid developmental projects in all sectors of the economy and it is in the light of this that we appreciate Ekiti sons and daughters in the field of architecture for spearheading the hosting of NIA and ARCON where we hope to tap from the wealth of their experience”.
Efforts made by SaharaReporters to reach the governor for his comment were unsuccessful. He could not be reached by direct call because his phone number was switched off. However, text messages sent to him on WhatsApp were delivered but he did not reply to them.
He also did answer repeated calls made to him on WhatsApp on Thursday.
The governor’s special adviser on media, Oyebode, also neither answered his calls not replied to the text messages sent to his mobile lines.
SaharaReporters observed that shortly after Oyebanji left the country, some stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) started political unrest in the state.
The APC stakeholders kicked against the appointment of former Governor Ayodele Fayose’s loyalists into political offices.
A statement issued by the convener of the Concerned Ekiti APC Stakeholders, Prince Aderobaki Adeleye, noted that in spite of their numerous sacrifices and contributions to the success of the APC in the last poll, appointments were given to of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Adeleye described the situation as unacceptable and capable of creating division in the APC.
He urged Governor Oyebanji to correct the “anomaly in the interest of the party’s survival before it is too late”.

A total of 58 Nigerian businesses and individuals are identified on the World Bank blacklist for participating in unethical practices
They include 39 Nigerian enterprises that the African Development Bank (AfDB) had previously prohibited and 19 people named by the World Bank.
This means that the indicated persons and institutions will no longer be able to participate in any projects sponsored by the World Bank
As part of its continued efforts to maintain integrity and transparency in its projects and operations, the World Bank has placed 58 Nigerian businesses and individuals on a blacklist for participating in unethical practices.
The Bank's protocols for penalty actions and settlements in relation to bank-financed projects were followed. Photo Credit: World Bank, FG
Affected parties include 19 people named by the World Bank under the cross-debarment policy and 39 Nigerian enterprises that the African Development Bank (AfDB) had previously prohibited.
BusinessDay reported that the most recent World Bank's list, updated every three hours, included 1,210 businesses and individuals worldwide.
What this means
A debarment prevents businesses or people from participating in initiatives and activities funded by World Bank Group organisations.
The World Bank report states that the penalties were imposed after the Bank held an istrative procedure that allowed the accused companies and individuals to address the accusations.
It added that the Bank's protocols for penalty actions and settlements about bank-financed projects were followed throughout this process.
It stated in the report:
“Through July 2007, this process was conducted by the Sanctions Committee Procedures adopted on August 2, 2001. The process is currently conducted in accordance with Bank Procedure: Sanctions Proceedings and Settlements in Bank Financed Projects. For more information on the two-tier sanctions process go to Sanctions,”
What you should know about cross-debarment
Cross-debarment was implemented in compliance with the agreement of April 9, 2010, as stated in the Agreement for Mutual Enforcement of Debarment Decisions.
The World Bank, Asian Development Bank, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Inter-American Development Bank, and African Development Bank are among the international financial organisations that have helped to make this agreement successful.
The Bank retains the power to take further measures against companies and people deemed to be in breach of its policies, some of which may not even include debarment.
The World Bank Procurement Regulations for Investment Project Financing Borrowers and the relevant Procurement or Consultant Guidelines both outline the prohibited conduct that results in debarment. The particular rules may change based on the type of project at hand.
Nigeria expecting $2.25 Billion World Bank loans
Legit.ng reported that the World Bank may approve another $2.25 billion in loans for Nigeria across two significant projects on June 13, 2024.
Official documents show that the funds will be shared between two projects to boost Nigeria’s economic stability and resource mobilisation capabilities.
One of the projects, reportedly named Nigeria’s Reforms for Economic Stabilisation, is to enable the Transformation (RESET) Development Policy Financing (DPF) and is set to receive $1.5 billion in funding.

A Forensic Scientist and Pathologist from the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Prof. Sunday Osiyemi has told the coroner inquiring into the cause of death of late Nigerian singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba popularly known as Mohbad that the results of an autopsy conducted on the deceased body has failed to ascertain the cause of death.
Prof. Osiyemi told the coroner, Magistrate Adedayo Shotobi that this conclusion can be attributed to several reasons, one of which is that it took a long time, about 21 days before the autopsy was conducted by which time, the body had decomposed.
While giving further clarifications on the proceedings, counsel to Mohbad’s family, Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Wahab Shittu said, “The Pathologist said the body ought to have been exhumed within 12 hours after it was buried to avoid decomposition. So the summary he is saying is that the cause of death cannot be ascertained and when you say the cause of death cannot be ascertained, it means it is suspicious, it is not clear, no particular reason.”
The lawyer also said the pathologist referred to certain drugs istered on the late Mohbad before he died which could have caused a reaction that made it difficult to ascertain the cause of death.
Shittu said, “He also went further to say that it may be attributed to reactions to certain drugs istered on him before he died. Again he then qualified that to say he does not know whether it is those drugs that actually led to his death”.
The Coroner has adjourned to June 11th for the cross-examination of the Pathologist.

The Kano State Hisbah Corps, a religious police force responsible for the enforcement of Shari’a to only Muslims in the state, has detained 20 men and women who were allegedly bathing together.
Naija News gathered that Operation Kau Da Badala conducted an arrest at a recreation center on Ring Road following complaints from residents.
According to the deputy commandant general of the board, Mujahidin Aminuddin Abubakar, the act constitutes an offense under the Hisbah legislation, which explicitly forbids individuals of different genders from bathing together in the same space.
Expressing dismay over the action, he emphasized that it could have been replaced with a more commendable alternative, resulting in blessings from God.
Abubakar emphasized the importance of parents and guardians closely monitoring their children’s whereabouts.
He added that once the investigation concluded, the suspects would face suitable punishment.
Meanwhile, Naija News earlier reported that the Kano State Hisbah Corps, a religious police force responsible for the enforcement of Shari’a to only Muslims in the state, has reportedly arrested one Jamil Mabai, a journalist working with Trust TV, the television broadcasting arm of Media Trust Group.
It was reported that the Sharia corps arrested Mabai over a social media post where he allegedly criticised the alleged human rights violations against youths in the state.

APC will swallow opposition parties under my watch — Ganduje •clarifies meeting with Wike by Taiwo Amodu August 16, 2023 Reading Time: 3 mins read
•your plot inimical to democracy, LP replies Ganduje
Former Kano state governor and Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has revealed his plan to open discussion with opposition political parties to merge with APC.
Ganduje disclosed his move on Tuesday night while speaking with journalists shortly after his meeting with former Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong.
Ganduje had earlier had a private meeting with former Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike at his residence in Abuja.
He dropped the hint that he has started reaching out to chieftains of certain opposition parties in other to consolidate the ruling party’s grip on the political space ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Ganduje also said he has a blueprint for increasing the hip drive in his party.
He said:” It will certainly improve the chances of this our party, especially in 2027 and not only that we are coming out with a new blueprint to increase the followership of the party and this we include all strata of officials; those who are in APC and those who are in other political parties. I assure you very soon some of the political parties will even merge with the APC. We are doing that underground.”
Asked about his meeting with a chieftain of the main opposition party and Minister-designate, Nyesom Wike, the APC Chairman who acknowledged that the former Rivers State governor would be an asset to APC, however, claimed that their private meeting has nothing to do with the latter plans to dump the PDP.
“You know Wike is an honourable Minister-designate. So he came, we discussed it because I was looking for him to congratulate him on that, and also he came to congratulate me. We discussed that when he becomes Minister fully, he will work very hard in order to move the Ministry he is given forward and he is ready to cooperate.
“But we didn’t discuss the issue of his coming to APC or not coming to APC. That issue will arise later.”
Reacting to the APC plan for a merger with other opposition parties, National Publicity Secretary of the Labour Party, Obiorah Ifoh told Tribune Online in a telephone interview that his party would not be involved in such a plan as he noted that it would be inimical to the growth of democracy.
He said: “I haven’t heard about it. But in responding to your question, LP has no business with a merger with any other political party because our aims and objectives are quite different from what APC stands for.
“In any case, our interest now is to regain our mandate through the tribunal. That’s our own interest. We don’t intend to open a discussion with APC or any other party. For us, we won’t have anything to do with APC. So, we wish APC well in its unification drive. In any case, it won’t augur well for democracy when you try to unify political parties. We need diverse political parties for the growth of democracy.”

The National Security Adviser (NSA), Malam Nuhu Ribadu, has itted that President Bola Tinubu inherited a bad economy from President Buhari istration that he is working hard to fix.
Though, during the 2023 election, President Tinubu had hailed economic progress of the President Muhammadu Buhari istration and attacked the opposition parties for underscoring the failures of eight years of APC rules and proposals on the economy and the social welfare of the citizens.
In his final broadcast to the nation, President Buhari had said “I am confident that I am leaving office with Nigeria better in 2023 than in 2015.”
Now, apparently in the contrary, Nuhu Ribadu, while addressing a meeting of the Presidential Steering Committee on Palliatives at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Monday, itted that “We inherited a very bad situation,” and pleaded with organised labour to give the istration little chance to fix the battered economy.
“The meeting was an opportunity for us to appeal to the labour leaders by extension Nigerians that we are facing difficulties and challenges that are not our making. We inherited a very bad situation. Most of the problems people are talking about are not a creation of this government. This government is barely two months old and since we have been facing these difficulties and challenges, we have a listening and engaging President, a president who will want to have a conversation and react.
“He is truly, genuinely, honestly doing it. Our appeal is please Nigerians give us the that is needed and required, we are working, we are trying to change things. We inherited a very bad situation, we are trying to stop all those things we witnessed in the past, we are trying to stop the killings, stop the attacks on trains, stop attacks on prisons, stop IPOB what they are doing, stop bandits, stop Boko Haran,” he said.
However, the organized labour maintained the stand to proceed with its planned protest over the removal of petroleum subsidy.
The President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Joe Ajaero, spoke with State House reporters after another round of meeting of the Presidential Steering Committee on Palliatives at the presidential villa, Abuja.
He said the plan for workers to proceed on a peaceful protest from Wednesday has not changed.
Ajaero, who dismissed fears that the peaceful protest could be hijacked by hoodlums, said such had never happened in the history of workers’ protest.
He, however, said it was the responsibility of security agencies to provide security for the protest to protect the workers.
The NLC boss also expressed doubts about President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s ability to control inflation and gasoline prices due to the unification of the exchange rate.
He said the meeting of the Steering Committee adjourned till 12noon on Tuesday to enable the labour leaders to listen to the president’s national broadcast on Monday.
Reacting to Tinubu’s plan to intervene on exchange rate over inflation and high cost of gasoline prices, Ajaero said:
“By the time you have a single market and you are not having anything that has a comparative advantage, your energy is import driven, then how are you going to control it? How are you going to control somebody that exchanged dollar at about 900 (naira)? Are you going to tell him to sell below the price?
“How are you going to tell even NEPA today, with the cost of production not to increase tariff? Even corn in the villages that was sold at N18,000 by February, now it’s about 56,000. How are you going to control it?”
On his side, the Chief of Staff to the President said that issues were trashed at the closed door meeting and that they adjourned to listen to the President broadcast.
He also said the government was dealing with the oil cabals that have brought the economy to its knees.
“We have been locked behind for a couple of hours, we had a good meeting, issues were thrashed out on the situation in Nigeria today in

The Obi-Datti Media office has watched with profound concern the orchestration by agents of retrogression to distract and defocus the nation’s Judiciary from the critical national assignment before them.
We find absolutely needless and utterly unacceptable some of the curious happenings around our Judiciary lately, starting with the threat of anarchy and chaos should the ruling party’s candidate be legally removed by the Presidential Election Petition Court (PE); the allegations of a telephone conversation between the esteemed Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Olukoyade Ariwoola with some persons, which the Supreme Court has since denied, and most recently, the bizarre fake news claiming that one of the ists at the ongoing hearing before the PEPC had resigned.
Without a doubt, those behind these strange contrivances have their devious motives, which certainly are not in the national interest. Our Judiciary should not be burdened by these distractions when their entire focus should be on the critical national assignment, which requires their total concentration and everybody’s and cooperation to conclude.
It’s indisputable that the future of this country is tied to the outcome of the Judiciary’s assignment. Every hand must be on deck to help them pilot the ship of Nigeria State to safety away from perdition.
Obi-Datti Media office, therefore, wishes to call on all patriots desirous of seeing a new Nigeria to desist from any action that may hinder the delivery of justice by their Lordships.
Relatedly, we also want to use this medium to warn these rogue Troll and Fog Machine agents to desist from ongoing attempts to smear or entrap Peter Obi and Datti Baba-Ahmed under whatever ploy. We recall at least seven failed fake demarketing and discrediting campaigns against our Principals.
We are all the more concerned about plans to escalate these desperate acts ahead of the PEPC judgment. Nigerians must not be gullible to believe or accept such deep, fake, and dubious ploys, all in the name of partisan politics. While we continue to appreciate our security agencies’ efforts to secure Nigeria, we implore them to ensure that our Principals are safe and secure in their persons, movement and properties as they go about their public and private endeavours.

PRESS RELEASE
July 10,2023
PETER OBI NEVER GRANTED ANY INTERVIEW ON PLANS TO BECOME PRESIDENT IN 2027
Our attention has been drawn to a publication in the Daily Post and some social media networks on an interview granted by His Excellency Peter Obi to Arise tv.
We want to quickly point out that this is the highest level of yellow journalism taken too far all in a bid to change the narrative as there was no time HEPO granted such a nebulous interview to Arise tv.
HEPO arrived Nigeria from an overseas trip just this weekend and for any reputable media organisation to publish such a fallacy and complete fabrication calls to question the kind of journalism some Nigerians are practicing.
For all avoidance of doubt, HEPO did not at anytime grant such an interview to any media organisation in Nigeria or outside the country. Please note!

They came to my WhatsApp to preach unity & progress at midnight. I now understand why some Obidients are beginning to talk from the other side of their mouth.
It's a shame that your conscience can be bought for 15,000$.
My conscience can never be bought!
I stand with OBI-DATTI

A dreaded former militant commander in the Niger Delta popularly called General Amagbein Boro is mobilising thousands of youths to occupy Abuja against forces threatening to disrupt the inauguration of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday.
Amagbein, who is the Founder of the famous youth group, the Niger Delta Amagbein Movement (NDAM), kicked against some treasonable statements emanating from persons he described as the enemies of the country saying they were capable of causing chaos in the polity.
He bemoaned the effrontery of a few aggrieved and self-centered coupists sponsoring a grand design to thwart the presidential inauguration, which he said had been exposed by the Department of State Security (DSS).
Amagbein said his group comprising thousands of youths would occupy Abuja in of Tinubu to stop unscrupulous elements’ plot to undermine the security architecture of the country.
He said any attempt by anybody no matter how highly placed to disrupt the inauguration would be crushed with a greater resistance from the creeks of the Niger Delta.
He said: “It is unfortunate that few aggrieved enemies of the state would muster effrontery to challenge our collective resolve. They will be greeted with our greater will.
“I am calling on all patriots of the Niger Delta to occupy the streets of Abuja chanting songs of victory, stand gallantly strong and defend the mandate of the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu against any perceived enemy of democracy.
“I encourage youths that as they occupy Abuja, they must not deter in their course to security agencies in protecting Tinubu’s mandate and ing the military to defend the sovereignty of the country under the watch of the present istration.
“The emergence of Asiwaju as President-elect is the collective resolve of the Niger Delta to further the course for restructuring and resource control.
“I am, therefore, optimistic that the Tinubu’s istration would look into the issues of the modular refinery and creation of opportunities for the region, a long awaited dream, that I have been fighting for”.
Amagbein said he had issued his last warnings to treasonable elements saying any action by the enemies of the state against the country before or after the inauguration “will be greeted with drums of native songs and sounds of metals as no price is too much to pay for the sovereignty of the country.

The most blatant rigging that took place in the last elections was the Senatorial election in the FCT. I have lived in Abuja for 22 years & to say that Ireti Kingibe, the Labour Party candidate, won the election is a joke. All will be exposed at the election tribunal and justice shall prevail.
To "elect" an Obidient who constantly seeks to demean, ridicule and undermine the indigenous Gbagyi population to represent the good people of the FCT in the Senate is not only part of a wider agenda to undemine and destroy the unity of our country but also constitutes a security risk and a surreptitious attempt to change the demographics of our nations capital.
This must be resisted at all costs and by all lawful means.

Babalola, who is also a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), made the proposal on Monday at a media briefing held at the Afe Babalola University in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital.
He raised fears that using the current Constitution to conduct another election in Nigeria would only reproduce the faulty leadership and system being experienced in the country.
In a bid to prevent Nigeria from slipping into such a situation, the legal icon stressed that a new constitution has become an urgent need.

Elder statesman, Chief Robert Clarke, has called for a tenure extension for President Muhammadu Buhari to enable him to tackle the nation’s problems before elections can be held.
The Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) argued on Monday that the few months remaining before the 2023 elections are not sufficient to put an end to the insecurity in the country to make the conduct of the election possible.
Answering questions on Arise Television programme, he maintained that the Constitution provides that the President can extend his tenure for six months in the first instance if he feels that conditions are not good to carry out elections.
He averred that it was wrong to believe that the President cannot stay in office for more than eight years of two tenures.
According to him, the President can continue to give himself a fresh six months extension until such a time election could be held in the country.
Clarke warned that the nation may not survive if nothing was done before the elections.

The Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, has alleged a sinister plot to cause a crisis that will lead to the postponement and disruption of the February 25 polls in Nigeria.
He stated this at the presidential campaign rally at the Ekiti Parapo Pavilion in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital, on Friday.
“They want to provoke you to violence, so that election will be disrupted and postponed, and they can cunningly introduce an interim government, that’s their plot. But this will backfire because we are wiser,” the former Lagos governor said.
The APC presidential candidate asked the people to stand firm and resist any negative plot by destroyers.

Activist Pastor of the House of God Church, Chris Okotie, has ed prominent Nigerians calling for an Interim National government to replace President Muhamamdu Buhari’s istration whose tenure expires next year.
Okotie, who spoke in Lagos yesterday, said the Presidential system of Government has failed, and should be jettisoned for the good of Nigerians.
He had contested for the office of the President three times but failed. Several times in his comments on national issues, Okotie claimed that he has the solution to Nigeria’s problems.
The controversial Pastor spoke barely three months after renowned legal luminary, Afe Babalola also called for the installation of interim government after the exit of Buhari in 2023.
Babalola, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, said the country has been damaged beyond repair, adding that the solution is to install a temporary Government that would usher in a new Government after the conduct of a Constitutional confab.

A former Information and National Orientation Minister Labaran Maku has itted many saw the ‘Obidient’ movement and the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate Peter Obi as a joke.
Obi, a former Anambra State governor, took the nation by storm when he emerged as a third-force candidate. Despite being dismissed as lacking a political structure, the LP candidate who enjoys a huge youth following scored over six million votes and won in 11 states to finish third in the just-concluded exercise.
But while fielding questions on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily about the outcome of the 2023 elections, Mr Maku itted that the opposition politicians never gave the LP candidate and his ers a chance.
“What happened in the presidential election as you could see was that there was this wave of young people, the ‘Obidients’ that we all took for granted and we were thinking Peter Obi was a joke. Where would he go?” the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain said on the breakfast show Tuesday.
“So, both PDP and the APC, we were thinking ‘This man does not have structure. He will not be able to do so much’.”
He, however, maintained that young people proved them wrong and put up an unprecedented showing in the 2023 elections.
“But the young people seized the initiative from the politicians. And for the first time – what we saw in Nasarawa, Edo, several other places, and in Delta State where the PDP vice presidential candidate comes from – we saw that young people were serious about what they were doing and they took advantage of social media to project a programme which has shaken the nation.”
The PDP chieftain from Nasarawa State itted that the party lost the presidential election in the state to LP but claimed the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC)’s win in the governorship poll was faulty.
For him, the results of the governorship election declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) were concocted.
