Osimhen lacks that elite mentality to win us key games or even carry us in the AFCON like the likes of JayJay, Oliseh, Aghahowa etc did in the 2002 AFCON. I know most of us hate to hear this truth, but Osimhen isn't THAT GUY, no player on this current team has that world class cutting edge ability to carry and lead this present crop of SE players.

This had been the case even in the most important game he played against Ghana. His presence was just here and there that wasn't productive. Look who even had the balls to play the penalty we had against Ghana. It was ekong. That's why I perfectly feel Ekong should be in that final team list to ivory coast. His effort has been decent. And his loyalty is incontestable. For Osimhen, he can quickly look at players like Lewandoski in the Polish team and start from there. But then lewy is not osimhen's role model, but Dider Drogba. Sadly the Chelsea legend is not a technical player but one who played on raw energy. Drogba never won the AFCON. The earlier Osimhen readjust his mind to very high technical role models like Lewy or even another better African in Samuel Eto. Eto's Cameroun was a nightmare for me as a kid back in the 2000s. And I can not forget the joy of the 2004 when we eliminated them.

You can't be serious. Simon should battle out his space? Oga he's a sure banker for AFCON.

Even Zaidu merits a place in this list, nothing like "OK"

Even Zaidu?? I don't think collins and zaidu will offer more than Bruno. And definitely, we need Ola Aina since he is a utility for both left and right. If Bruno and ola for one reason or the other aren't good to play, Bassey can step in. Zaidu and Collins are not Taiye Taiwo's level , if need be to maximize our numbers and options in midfield this should be the easier route.

As a professional writer, I know that the hallmarks of a good writer is the ability to write with your audience in mind. Different audiences require different tones, word usage and writing styles.

Solace Chukwu is a talented writer no doubt, but he writes public articles as if he is addressing University Professors😂😂. I daresay his writings are inaccessible to 95% of the general public.

I guess most people just read his headlines and maybe first and last paragraphs, but to each his own.

Well on the contrary, I love to read his articles. I love how he writes. And I have always told him I wished to write at that level that he does. Watch out for him, in no time those at the top echelon, whose cerebral curiosity has been fed in one way or the other will demand for him. Maybe, my bias stems from my affiliation with verbosity, Solace Chukwu marks it all. whatever your craft is, consistency is key.

It should have been Lookman, but the guy just dey fumble anyhow😥

Exactly what I just thought. Ndidi will always be Ndidi, even now he is coming into this tournament with some impressive offensive records from his club. That solidifies a Mikel-esque play. He can defend and can contribute to an attack when he has an opportunity for that. As a CDM I think I will play safe, like in Rohr's tactics by bringing in Onyeka with him, especially against the Ivorian team.

My own be say

Who go play this Victor Moses Joker role for this AFCON? We need this solitary figure in the team. Who can we point to to play that role? Cos we need it.

Exactly. We need that sort of leadership quality. People really forget how much of an engine victor Moses was at that afcon. Mikel, Enyeama played about 5 AFCON, Ahmed musa probably one or two as well. Emenike was huge but aside that tournament he didn't make a big name for himself, especially after leaving Spartak Moscow to West Ham. Sunday Mba we all know, anybody can be a Sunday(I he scored his two tournament goals on Sunday as well) but Moses was the difference maker. Something Moses Simon tired but failed to do at the last Afcon cameroun .simon was impressive at the group stages but withered out. We need that player who can actually hold the ball and take decisions. Simon I fear might just be too old for that now again. I have not been convinced about Ademola Lookman. This will be his first tournament representing us, I in his last tournament for the three lions at the under 21 world cup he was quite outstanding. I'm hoping he understands that the game is not about him, but about the team. I hope he will put the team first, assist when he has to assist and defend whenever he is needed. In all it is about winning every game

And if we don't have a competent hand doing it at least in the continent, is it not advisable to look for a promising talent and nurture him?

Lol. You know very well that we don't nurture in the super eagles. And of course we should look for promising talents to strengthen the squad. It's almost January, I'm more confident having Adeleye or Uzoho in goal against Ivory Cost. That is not the time to have a promising talent too big a risk. Perhaps he can come into the camp And learn.

If peseiro was a local coach he will have been sacked by now.
He is worse than Amodu, Eguavon, Keshi etc
Rohr is 10 times better than him. In fact, Rohr's first 3 years were fantastic before he fell off.
Peseiro is not giving us any memorable match, performance, players or anything.
He is the worst coach (local or foreign) we have ever had.
Its really terrible.
We should fire him and manage our local coaches they cant do worse.
55% is better than the 20% that peseiro is.

In all sincerity I believe in Pesiero, I believe we stand a better chance with him leading us to the AFCON at least a semi-final spot is realizable. I'm rather happier we are not going into the tournament with self-overconfidence.

I had the same feeling of patience with the Super Falcons coach prior to their outstanding world cup campaign. The team will gel.. Even keshi's AFCON team did not gel until the do or die game we had against Ivory Coast. Luckily the Ivorian also had a poor goalkeeper in Barry. When u watch the goals he conceded against Nigeria in the quarter finals, if Uzoho conceded such we would have called for his head. So, I say every team is coming to win. And it is the team that just finds the blend that wins. Senegal at the last AFCON struggled throughout the group stage but won albeit via penalty kicks against Egypt we beat in our opening match. We are playing well, we are not just converting chances. And I say that with our attackers hitting the right tournament fever just like Odion Ighalo in 2019 we are on course for a good tournament.

Peseiro Dey collect kickbacks Abi no be so…if na local coaches we for don Dey shout Uzoho Dey settle nau.

All I know solution to our goalkeeper is in NPFL and am rooting for Christian Nwoke.

Odegbami spoke many truths. Our league is very poor. Enyeama with Enyimba played against Ismaili of Egypt and conceded six goals in cairo. How many of such exposure does Christian Nwoke have playing in the league? Is he just playing against his fellow NPFL that he is considered good enough? Uzoho shone for Deportivo in la liga as a substitute goalkeeper and that was his turning point. Unfortunately, his development seems to have stalled. We need goalkeepers who are already doing it at least on the continent.

With Schick back Boniface will have to grow quickly. He can't continue to miss easy chances.

Nevertheless, his versatility is an added advantage.
Boni reminds me of young Benzema/Lewa. Skillful strikers that do miss lot of chances but were able to perfect their games due to regular playing time.

Unfortunately, Boni might not get that chance cos of Schick. Therefore, he has to start putting away at least one of two chances!

Look at what Boniface does to the team, look at Grimaldo, Frimpong, and Writz all having at least seven goals and assist contributions to the team. That's what Boniface does to the team. He makes everyone around him good. That's why he is key for them. He is the reason the team is built this way. even when he is not scoring he is assisting. That quality, my brother is something I don't think Schick has. Boniface is the gel, he makes them click and everyone is contributing.

If champions league is all about coaching, some clubs would get a loan from the world bank and hire Fabio Capello but I'm afraid there's is more to it than coaching.
I think the problem most Nigerians have is that they are very slow to come to with the fact that we have so much regressed in football that we are now very much behind a lot of African countries.
Granted we were among the dominant forces in the 80s and 90s because we invested in football. We had standard sporting facilities in secondary schools inherited from the colonial masters and so we were able to nurture players from the schools. Where are we today in of sports education? What do our clubs train with? Do we think that just because we have won a number of AWCONs then that should translate to success at the club competition level? Guys wake up! Think critically and make the right advocacy!!

Granted, what would be the right advocacy ?

these nff fellas have forgotten that the era in which you can just appoint someone to be coach and we will win the match is far gone. Female football is growing and we are already getting left behind cos I don't understand why we are drawing against Ethiopia for the love of God.

We are left behind. Just look at the women's Champions League in Africa. We declined further by failing to qualify even when we hosted. A team from Ghana still came to beat us. This coach we have appointed is on what merit. If our local coaches aren't winning the African women champions league I believe they have no say in the national team. Likewise our male team. We need coaches who can always get to the semifinals of the African champions league. If our local based or home-based players are not dominating Africa then there is no point bringing them into the national team. If it is a management problem then there shouldn't be promotion for state board managers to the glass house. To whom much is given much is expected.

One of Ndidi's best games for us. He has really impressed me today.

Obviously, himself and Iheanacho are in good hands. At the top of their league and they are making it count in the national team.

Team way dey on a losing streak e reach una turn to whip them, una dey do like Rev. Father Benevolent and sister Merciful. Spare the the needless narrative of how each one of them tried. These boys are not hungry.

Evidently, Loss of from from club affects them, look at Sadiq. The average guys like Ndidi, Iheanacho, Boniface and Moses Simon showed why they are at top forms in their clubs.

Jpes is lucky with players making their debut under him and clicking to the team. The right back and left back have virtually clicked for him. Bright and Bruno, not forgetting the striker Boniface. They have been great addition to the team. The others are still purging their minds of the previous national team coaches they played with. They don't seem to get the message well.

90 percent of us here knew that free kick will be a goal. It's almost 2 years and we still have a goalkeeper problem. Fine, the ball deflected off Bassey, and Bassey caused the freekick that led to the first goal and again the keeper should have done better with the first goal.
