If you divorce her, there is a high chance that you will regret it because of your child.

I'm not a marriage counsellor but what I know works like a magic in your situation is:

1. Try to identify her love language which she must have been telling you verbally or through body language but YOU ARE LIKELY NOT LISTENING TO HER (I don't mean not hearing, I mean LISTENING TO HER).

2. When you identify her love language, meet that need......(clue: I think most women love gifts).

3. Also, try to see how you can develop her either by furthering her education or setting up/expanding a business for her.

4. Give her parents more surprise visits with gifts for them as well (you can do this without her).

Sex will naturally come before you know and your relationship will receive a boost.

Thank me later.

Lol. Not all black Americans are like that tho. I have great black American friends. The problem is: so many Nigerian immigrants come here “extremely hungry for success” and they end up achieving a lot within a short time - which sometimes lead to tension between immigrants from Africa and native black Americans. They believe we are taking their positions in America after our ancestors sold them during slave trade and that we didn’t experience the difficulties they experienced - slavery, fight for civil rights and stuff like that.

Many Nigerians abroad are also too loud as well - they tend to show off their landmark successes and some now have the mentality that “if an average Nigerian can come from a village in Nigeria to become an Engineer or a Millionaire(in dollars) in the US, then any native black American who is struggling to be somebody in life as an American is lazy and unserious”. The black Americans hear and see these things and they feel insulted that after we(not us but our ancestors tho) sold them to slavery, we still have the effrontery to come to America to ride them anyhow we like. They believe Nigerians thrive in America because they made it possible for us: they are the ones who fought for equality in the US and stuff like that.

That is why many black Americans feel weird when some statistics show that over 77% of black doctors in the US are Nigerians and that majority of the blacks being itted to ivy League schools are Nigerians and Nigerian - Americans. They feel that we are reaping where we did not sow and many of our fellow Nigerians are also not humble enough about their successes. They blow their trumpets so loud that it invites envy from black Americans and even immigrants from other African countries.

About two months ago, I was in Washington DC when one of my professors(who is a White American) confessed to a diverse gathering of people that Nigerians are very smart, hard working and talented(I was the only Nigerian there). Immediately after my professor said it, one other African immigrant there began to feel uncomfortable and she had to say it publicly that “Nigerians have not done or achieved enough to earn the hype people have for them in America”. I just smiled and kept quiet. I’ve learned not to be too loud about myself in the US because when they see that you are moving faster than them, they may begin to see you as a threat and plot bad things toward you. Many Nigerians abroad also need to learn this - it’s better to be humble and not make noise about your achievements.

In the end, as a Nigerian in the US, I do not have any superiority or inferiority complex towards anyone - regardless of race, nationality, sex, orientation or social status. In fact, it saddens my heart when I see African immigrants and black Africans having misunderstandings. The reason being that: these black Americans are also our brothers and sisters if we want to be true to ourselves. All my black American friends have Nigerian DNA. In fact, some of them are over 87% Nigerians(according to the results of their ancestry/DNA test). So, I see no reason why we all(black Americans, Nigerians, Nigerian -Americans, all African immigrants) cannot love each other and ourselves.

Many Nigerians and Nigerian -Americans need to be more humble about their phenomenal successes as well albeit people should not try to downplay the immense efforts, pains, sacrifices, hard work and drive that most Nigerians abroad pour into life to achieve great things.

Finally, we all should not dwell in the past. We cannot change what happened during the slave trade - it was an unfortunate incidence but that is now history. More so, we were not the ones that sold them into slavery and not all African immigrants have condescending opinions about black Americans. Majority of us love them and we see them as a part of us. African immigrants should see black Americans as their brothers and sisters, vice versa. We all need to work together and put our differences/biases aside.

IN THE END, WE ARE ALL AFRICANS! ONE LOVE!!!

I am presently ing through the bolded at my workplace. I think I projected myself too much and that is making the managers in the organization threatened. Now, they are giving bad report about me but God has somehow always showed up.

Please, as a Nigerian abroad, try to be as humble as you can.

Salford is more than 150% real and right..there is no country you can compare with America..thats a fact.It is so because of the flexibility of opportunities it offers to every one regardless of your academic background so long as you really think like a human being.US encourages all kinds of venture reason Mexicans, eastern Europeans,Africans who do not even have high school education succeed because there are no restrictions to small start up retail shops..so many Nigerians back home done even know that there are road side vulcanizers in New York, road side welders, kabu kabu blowing whistle for you with "Heysss are you going?...with people selling candys and cookies in the subways..with people coming out on the streets with their truck loaded with coconut ans selling to er by..with guys hawking soda and water on the highway of NYC just like lagos...

you cant try that in Canada, you need to first be educated in Canada...everything regulated with govt policies ...small street businesses are not encouraged...

what America stands for is why it is called living the American dream...there is no country that is easy to succeed other than America with or without papers.

by the way i am also a Canadian citizen.

Bro, you are so right. Canada is so structured. Too many rules and regulations. I even read last week that, in Toronto, people are now been penalized for car noise no matter the source of the noise (including idling too often).

Too less flexibility.

Someone please educate me!!! [Mods, if you feel this thread is a distraction, you can kindly close it - No worries ]

Canada is very welcoming to Immigrants & allowed professionals to freely come in via the PR programme & become a citizen in 3 years.
Canadians want new Immigrants who are Doctors, ants & all other Professionals in their field but want them to do menial jobs.

Over the course of some months from deep research, I have found out that a lot of Nigerians who live their Bank work, Businesses etc travel over to Canada to either become Cab drivers or Security guards.

Knowing you have to pay for rent for a couple few months when you get there as a PR immigrant before eventually getting a job (IF you actually get). The money you take with you isn't actually enough in most cases.

Even after going to School for MSC, there is no guarantee that the Jobs are waiting for you. As there are a lot of immigrants Trooping in daily.
If you don’t do menial jobs, Drive Trucks, Cab Driving, Security Guards as the stories I have heard.

Is there any one here who actually made it easy & straight forward being in Canada without doing Unskilled jobs?

Please kindly indicate.

My dear,

I understand your feeling about this but from what I have noticed for the few weeks I have been here:

There are some list of jobs that are in high demand over here and THESE JOBS ARE IN MOST OF THE CITIES BEGGING TO BE FILLED. However, that doesn't mean it will be easy to take up such position. The right candidates with the requisite skills are required.
Any PR candidate that can prove his worth will most likely get hired but it's always a good idea to get a bit of Canadian education/training no matter how small. Menial jobs you do are Canadian experience too because you can learn some work culture from bottom up.

There is nothing wrong with the menial jobs except for the minimum wage it pays. You can however, still have a decent life, like someone said above, pending when a professional job come your way. It may also be wise to save some cash to enable you enroll in some short courses to at least get a Canadian training/education.

Most importantly, be prayerful and make friends with people no matter their status.

Hello guys, hope everyone is doing well. Is Declaration of change of name the same as Newspaper publication stuff?

If you just got married, your marriage certificate and Newspaper publication should go together otherwise you'll have to go get an affidavit done in court. My opinion though.

What exactly does COREN do for Engineers especially Young/Fresh Engineers apart from charging them exorbitant fees for affiliation and conferences?

I think the Government need to focus on the Fresh Brains in our tertiary institutions first by:

1. a complete overhaul of all the archaic delivery methods/modules of the science and engineering courses,
2. fortify the labs with state-of-the-art technology/infrastructure to enhance valuable practical experiences
3. introduce a law that will mandate all engineering organizations accept students as interns,
4. ensure that NYSC PPAs are science and engineering inclined organizations. This could also include ensuring that those posted to the North are given Polytechnics & Universities as PPAs to teach science and engineering subjects.
5. Encourage Entrepreneurship in the Engineering Sector as well.
6. THEY SHOULD START ARRESTING THOSE MARKETERS, BANKERS AND LAWYERS DOING ENGINEERING JOBS.This is becoming really prevalent.

To me, These are the basics. I am speaking from the experience from what I can see around here.

Hello Everyone.

So I'm awaiting PPR and considering where to settle. From my research here and via google I picked interest in London Ontario. It appears that the city has affordable housing, friendly weather. But I'm wondering why much people don't go there? Pple seem to prefer Toronto and some other much expensive cities in the GTA.

Why is this? Please help with ur opinions, so I don't make a mistake.

@Thecongo2, @bsbabe, @wholesomegrace, @naijaforeigner thanks for the information shared about the place. I'll appreciate more sha, make una no vex abeg

London weather is that as friendly as you thought. Activities are often shut down due to extreme weather. Houses are affordable and there appears to be a good number of jobs (menial ones though) with a little professional ones.

Secondly, if you are the kind of person who likes lively environment, trust me when I say London is not for you. GTA cities are the best places for that.

Hope this helps.

Op, You've got to be very careful with this situation.

You want to buy his business and you want to protect your reputation. In other words, you allowed him desecrate your God given house because of your gains and you're here ranting.

If you are not careful, you will get tempted towards the act being perpetrated by that guy. It usually starts with you sighting the ladies he brings. Some of those ladies have potions on their skins that hypnotizes innocent guys. This could be followed by your friend advising you that you just try it once. My dear brother, the Bible that says "FLEE EVERY APPEARANCE OF EVIL" was not mistake. Sexual sin is very tempting and you could get drowned before you know it.DO NOT GIVE THE DEVIL A FOOT HOLD.

My advice:
Talk to him respectfully when he discharges the lady.Let him know you don't condole what he's done in your house.
If he doesn't listen, then you'll need to redefine or end the relationship you have with this guy if you know you are not spiritually strong.

Seeing those daughters of jezebel could affect your thoughts and minds negatively if you are weak.

You have a bright future and fantastic destiny.
The devil comes to steal, to kill and to destroy the destiny of men.DO NOT LET HIM.

You are blessed.
