Look at Ford or Citroen, they are price friendly even if it's automatic.

Hello house, please has anyone experienced this before, applying for my dependant skilled worker's dependant visa, on scanning the BRP with the UKVI app, it shortens the middle name. Although the name on the BRP is the full name, how can this be corrected please?

Hi everyone, am in the UK on a skilled visa, I need to go to for holiday, how do I process the visa and the associated cost. Thanks |
![]() |
Please I need to make this clarification or if anyone has even experienced this: when a skilled worker (with dependants) changes to a dependent visa, what happens to the dependant when she was on the skilled worker. She's now a dependent to her partner. So the question is, what happens to the dependant (children) who are her dependent when she was on the skilled worker. The husband got a skilled worker visa, so she switched to his dependant but the children who was her dependent when she has the skilled worker visa still have a long time on their visa. Do the children need to change their visa (since the skilled worker holder is now dependent of the partner). |

My brother don't mind any criticism about UK. Come to UK, your wife as the student and you will get a good work. I am also Electrical Engineer like you, though came in 2022 as a student and after graduating, it takes me only 2 months to get a well paying job. Electrical Engineer here in the UK is a shortage occupation and they are in dare need of it that if you have enough experience with God's Grace. UK might be an easier route for you because you can't say what will happen in the Nigeria, I left when £1 is 700 and now it's about 2050. I never regret leaving the country. Move and you will thank God for it. 4 Likes 1 Share |

Please don't let it get too much into you, it's a phase and it will definitely . Don't be discourage about what they said about you, since they gave you a second chance, give it your best and you will laugh last. But wait, why warehouse? Have done warehouse job before but I have to run after about one month so it won't kill me. You said you did education in Nigeria, are you a qualified teacher from Nigeria and even if not, you can do cover supervisor as an unqualified teacher and they pay very well, and if you work your way to becoming UK qualified teacher, you can get sponsorship easily there. Please put your mind off it, pray and socialise with friends and family. Otokitifunmi: 2 Likes 1 Share |

I understand your fear couple with 1. High exchange rate 2. High Visa and IHS fee, 3. UK uncertain immigration terrain, 4. Possibility of getting a high paying job with sponsorship in UK. With all the above said, your skill-set should be the foundation of your decision because it is the pointer to how well you will get a good job that can offer you sponsorship, this with the Grace and Help of God. It is your marketing/selling point. I was in your shoe in 2022, had doubts, leaving my job (I work with a telecom firm then), leaving my business (I have a privately run business then though I still do it on part time now), selling my cars, converting my houses to full tenement apartment (One of them I build it as if I will be living there), how will I be able to get a good job here, resettling my family without issues. I took the difficult decision and today I thank God I took the decision. Though we are not where we want to be yet but the path is already looking good and rewarding. Below are my advise: 1. Study a course that tally with your Nigeria experience because that will be your selling point here. 2. You are it Tech (IT), I think you should have no issue here. I am also in tech too but not IT and I can tell you the sector has a lot of rewards and it gets better as you progresses. 3. If your wife is a qualify teacher or a Nurse/Doctor/Medical field/Engineering, this gives you a better hope. But if not, don't worry, have Faith and God will come through for you. 4. If you finally come to UK, try to graduate with a very good grade, It get why. I am a living witness. 5. Believe in yourself and know that failure is not an option. 6. Like some people suggested, you can also try Canada (though not sure but I use to hear that it's a bit easier there). Best of luck. Sorry for the long epistle, just wanted to a message across to you. Apology in case of any typo. crypticTrey: 8 Likes 1 Share |

What's the useless basis of comparison? For example someone earning #350,000 per month in Lagos will hardly be able to save if you have loan you are servicing. Same person came to UK and was earning say £52k PA and earning around £3,050 after tax. If the spouse is working, will live a very comfortable life with high quality of life. It's better you leave Nigeria when you are younger if you desire to leave. My advise: if you are a professional, please leave Nigeria and find a better future for yourself and family. Not everyone here is doing odds jobs like some people say. Even those doing so called odd jobs are making it big. To me no job is odd as long as it pays your bill. Those giving the rubbish comparison have their own children abroad. Kemistri3: 1 Like 1 Share |

Hello my people, I have come again, my appreciation for your prompt response to my request/worry earlier today, I appreciate them a lot. My thanks goes to @Lexusgs430, @Controlv, @LaXxOnebody, @LionlnZion and my special thanks to @Jamesclooney; God bless you sir for your advice and encouragement, am grateful. I appreciate all Nairaland family, this is a community like family that relieve your burden when you don't see way forward. About my last request and worries, tonight around past 7pm, I got home office approval for our skilled worker dependent visa and that of my children. I will tell little of my story, I came into the UK late 2022 on a student visa, couldn't get a job, we were spending the little change we brought from Nigeria though we had paid 6 months rent in advance before leaving Nigeria and that really helped us when there was no job. Early 2023 I later got a factory work, after working there for like 4 weeks, the stress was too much on me so I had to resign, the thing wan destroy my waist and leg, so I ran for my life. Thereafter I was using my car for Domino delivery though they only give me around 14hrs/week and sometimes even 10 hrs/week. I also was doing teaching as a cover supervisor to cover the remaining hours. Also my wife was really helpful during this my 1 year studies. Fast forward, I was applying for jobs late December as my course ends in January, 2024, a lot of rejection because of student visa stuff but from January 2024, I started getting some interviews but when it gets to right to work, they always back off. Along the line, an agent from an online jobsite categorically call me and told me that since I don't have UK experience, I should come down on my salary expectation and come to something like 35K or 40K but with my 16 years professional experiences and my experience in my last job in Nigeria, I was determined to go for the best. Also, from this forum, there were advices by some of our people that said you should go for the salary range you want and someone even said here that don't apply for salary range you don't want. Before I forget, I graduated with distinction when my result came out in February (All Glory to God). All these encourage me to go for what I want, I was applying for as many as I could in my desired salary range and later within the last two weeks of interview I got a job of over 60K with hybrid working and a lot of benefits. I am so grateful to God for His mercies and to this forum for all the precious advises. Am grateful. I decided to write this long epistle as this might encourage someone in this group that it will always get better. Thank you once again. Please pardon me for any typo. lightofjoy: 45 Likes 2 Shares |

Happy Sunday, below is my situation, I got a job offer(application /interview process was faster than anticipated) and I initially told them I will be resuming next week but my issue is, have already applied for my skilled worker dependant visa but not out yet and I supposed to submit it with my documentation. I can't resume the work with my student visa hence why I applied already to switch. My question is: can I write the company to change my resumption date? Or what's your advice? |

Please I need advice here, I made a mistake in the application, instead of 'Mrs', I mistakenly wrote 'Reverend'. And have submitted and paid. What can I do? |

You response looks and seems some how. There is no fault in asking, I only asked so as not to make mistake. At the end of the day, i was able to work through. I was filling it for a close person, so was careful not to fill the wrong form. You seems full of yourself as if you know everything, your tone sounds arrogant. If you don't have a better answer to my initial enquiry, waka . So is there any offence is asking?. Over confidence dey worry you. ReesheesuKnack: 4 Likes |
