With all due respect, it is not my intention to bring Nigeria down. I am a Nigerian. I gave a logical explanation, and stated a verifiable fact. When you see dollar price rising and gadget prices are relatively stable, it is either there is quality ( standard) drop or something else is going on. Some products that carry the logo of the said multinational brands are knockoffs ordered by our local business men from China. Again, my explanation was within the context of prices and how product quality drops overtime to keep it within the purchasing power of the populace.
erad:
. With that said, which of the items are you interested in?

With all due respect, this(the bolded) makes no sense.

These are notable multinational brands, so why say such? Plus why do you guys always find it so convenient bringing Nigeria down at every opportunity? It was absolutely unnecessary.

Bakrabas:
How much are they selling the new of those items, thank God that you've japa before you declared them for sale, otherwise they won't sell in that amount
. Go and check the new of those items and perhaps report the price here. I can only say, these are barely used and are in good working condition and some of the subsequent (newer ones) version are not as strong. You know in Nigeria, we reduce quality to keep price stable. So newer is not always better.

Omoo this one tough. Because going for pgd after a masters looks somehow like a downgrade. I don't know if anyone here has done it before.
Except you can write a very enticing SOP on why you want to go for the pgd, how it relates to your work experience and co

It is not a problem if you can show that the education or knowledge you are getting is relevant to your career growth and it is different from that obtained from your Masters. You can actually explain that you don't see need for another masters since you already have one, and you are choosing PGD because it is practical and will fill your specific skill/knowledge gap.

The deed of purchase, receipts and survey plan is enough ( may be with some pictures) but if you have mb constraint, just do the Deed.
Legitmenaija:
Hello house, please kindly respond.

Should i also submit building plans of the houses my sponsor (mum) wants to add as documents for visa application.

The building plans are quite much and we are confused if to add them or not.

Lawode: 10:43am On Feb 22, 2023
My kids are both under the school age, but I did mention in the application that we will be applying for them at the point of entry
Shayo5:
Congratulations on your PPR. You mentioned your kids were born in the US, this means they do not need to apply for visa right?

But did you apply for study permit for them as well?

ultrazone:

Congratulations. Please what docs did you submit for SOWP?

I am the sponsor so I included all the usual statements, proof of financial means ( I earn well and still included reasonabe saving projection and also certificate of annual emollient) proof od relationship, I also got a letter from my office confirming that I am working remotely. Home tie is job, properties ( not much o) , family responsibilities, my ed business and profession. I applied for SOWP to socialize and be part of the community and life in Canada. Check my profile to see the advice a lady gave me when I asked a similar question. It was what guided me
Lawode: 10:55pm On Feb 20, 2023
Good evening guys, Glory to God!!!!!! our testimony came in early! Family of four. Student permit for wife and SOWP for me. We did all by ourselves and with the help of God, and the hope and inspiration given by the application details provided by @Oloking and @Dayo96 ( Dear Brother, the saving project worked). @Tolulope1 thanks for being so warm and helpful. We submitted the usual documents so there is nothing to list in that regard except the few unique ones like:
a) a letter confirming my remote work arrangement, as opposed to letter for leave of absence ( I can't leave my job ).
b) Documents confirming annual emolument of sponsor ( I am sponsoring my wife) ,
c) Applicant's and Sponsor's Employment documents
d) One year pay slip of sponsor
e) One year statement of ( Naira and Dorm)
f) International training certificates
g) Letter of Sponsorship (detailing my income and how the funds available were made, the huge transfers into my wife's from Bonuses earned last year, and the corresponding payslips)
h) Wife's SOP ( 22 pages or so, detailing every aspect of the application. Why she wants to study PGD after Masters, why she is traveling with family, etc, she was very sincere in that write up)
i) Letter of Intent from me ( stating my true intentions, the need to be with my family, the situation surrounding my job and why I had to go to Canada with my job)
j) Bill and receipts for children had in the US
(k) Explanation of the intent to sell the dollars in my Dorm at the parallel rate.
l) Commitment to fall back on my RSA should I lose my job or sell two of my vehicles
m) Hometies - Job, work benefits ( I have a lot to lose in benefits if I don't come back, and this is the absolute, verifiable truth), personal relationship with employer, established profession etc)
n) Travel history ( UK, US, UAE - existing US visa
o) Plans to convert 25% of RSA towards mortgage under the new policy in that regard.
p) I had to state a commitment towards monthly savings to shore up my proof of fund for living expenses in the second year. We have funds for the first year.
q) We paid the first year tuition.

These are things that easily come to mind.

My observations and advice:

1. Tell your story truthfully and back it up with as much evidence as you can get, it is easier selling the truth.
2. Explain every deposit
3. Have your sponsor transfer substantial but explainable funds into your ( all funds were transferred into my wife's )
4. Please make a t application if you have the funds, don't state your spouse is your home tie when you know you will want them to you later ( say the truth)
5. Use the MBS
6. Travel history helps with quicker record verification ( it is not a major factor, but it helps buttress the fact that you are not trying to Japa)
7. Provide details of your ed business if you have one, otherwise show other means of social establishment in Nigeria
8. Do not do half measure, go all out to prove the facts that you state, again this boils down to if you are saying the truth.
9. Give a detail description of your study plan. Prepare your SOP like a tough interview question and answer session. Address all the issues sincerely ( your truth is your truth, don't try to play smart. e.g. my siblings are abroad and I didn't hide that, just stated that I have always returned to Nigeria in spite of that)
10. Show a reasonable career progression. Don''t jump from Customer Service to Nursing or Health Care Assistance without a solid explanation.
11. Research and do it yourself if you can, otherwise, provide all the information , including the SOP and make sure you can see yourself and not a stranger in the story being presented on your behalf. It is easy for one to forget a lie but the truth never fades.
12. Huge funds without detailed explanation of the source will work against you
13. Don't be afraid to transfer lump sum so far there is a good, plausible explanation.
14. This is a good time to apply, do it now, the time line might get worse again - I was going to continue to save until I have at least 20million, in addition to the fees for the second year tuition for my wife, but @Dayo96 and @Olokings story on guaranteed savings encouraged me. ( I still intend to continue to save until the money is complete, but we already of the visa, so it is good to just get on with it and hope that the truth will make you free.
15. This is one situation where the strength of man cannot promise success, there is the huge element of the grace of God. Please acquaint yourself with God, let this mission bring you close to Him and the knowledge of His will. Be sure God wants you to do this and live your life in the fear of God.

Your family of four will require minimum of $20,000CAD for every year of your wife's study, you need to show receipt for the first year/semester of her study with proof that you have the money for the next year/semester's tuition or show how you intend to meet the obligation. Make sure the funds you have are accessible, so it is sometimes better to liquidate the funds into savings . 10million is not likely to be enough.
I have seen few exceptions, but from most of the testimonies here for family application, your Proof of fund should be at least N25million.
dipset01:
I am abit confuse on how much i need for a family of 4, as proof of funds. what the equivalent of $24,733 in naira, what site do i use for conversion. Will 10m be enough for a family of 4.

My wife is the principal applicant, but the bulk of the money sits in my money market , will my bank statement suffice or I need to add something else

POF: $71,000CAD in personal savings + Paid 1st year full tuition of $19,000 CAD and 10,000CAD GIC.
HOW I ADDRESSED MY PREVIOUS REFUSAL: Honestly, the VO was correct about the fact that my monthly earnings were not commensurate with savings shown in my . This was because a lump sum payment for a property sold in 2020 was made into my bank (over N10m). I attached an excerpt of bank statement showing the transaction date, deed of transfer and land survey docs. I also attached some copies of my previous pay slips and excerpts of bank statement showing salaries and benefits from my previous employers. SP application nor be by muscle...Na baba God get power...if you like do all the packaging in the world, if it's not your turn, it's not your turn.

But don't forget, visa officers always want to see the following items:

Let me mention that I did not include Police character certificate, land documents or other property documents because I do not have any of those things. It is true that 2 applications cannot be the same, sometimes too much of documents even can get Visa Officers confused. The above listed documents were all I submitted. It is good to read people's TL to be encouraged but some TL will get you intimidated and confused. My application was a self- sponsored. And all I submitted as POF was 10.4m

I am a first time applicant and I have never traveled out of Nigeria before. I never enter plane before self despite the fact that I work at the airport until last month that I went for medical and biometric. Travel history is not a criteria.

The total of my tuition for the 1 year is about 20,000 cad + 10,000 cad living expenses+ 3000 cad miscellaneous.

How I addressed POF.

My salary is around 100k. I knew for sure that it is too little to present as monthly earnings. what I did was to use all the 1.7m I had in 2021 to buy Toyota Corolla. I planned running bolt with it for a good 1 year before submitting my application. I explained that I drive my car on bolt platform on part-time basis anytime am off duty. Each month I make sure i make over 100k net profit from bolt. I submitted 12 months MBS to show that I truly make such money from bolt. I collected a loan of 8m from a co-op society, collected 2m from a friend because I knew the 8m won't be enough to show as POF. I wrote in the LOE that this my friend was a long time friend (classmate) which was true. He had sent money to me (vice versa) severally in 2022. I also showed pictures of us together in 3 different occasions (in school,at my engagement and at a function) and also included his international port. Someone in Canada even advised that I should not include him that nobody gives anyone such money in Canada, that even parents don't give their children money. But I had no other story to cook because the money had already been sent to my . I also made sure I paid 1m into my spouse to augment her salary for her and the children's upkeep so the VO will believe that nobody go press my neck for money in Canada. In my LOE, I also mentioned that while I would be away, there is an arrangement on ground to employ a driver that will drive my car on a FULL TIME basis with weekly remittance of #30,000 to my and to be managed by my spouse. The weekly 30k + my monthly salary+ other annual benefits from my employer resulted to additional 3m+ (about 10k cad)

How I addressed hometie

Apart from the fact that my family (spouse and children) and job are strong home tie. I became a volunteer with Red cross society of Nigeria just for the purpose of ID card and pictures, and I got that. I also collected a letter from my church. You can buy a pet (🐶, 🐱, 🦁, chicken 🐔) and add it to yours as hometie in your application. Include their vetinary cards and other documents.

Please note, keep your application as simple as possible, no allow NL use TL press your neck. Submit your application as early as possible so you can have peace of mind, and plan your departure well. All the experience I have today was gotten from here because I have been following since 2020. I also handled a friend's application last year. Submitted application Aug 16, 2022 and PPr Dec 26, 2022.... In all one cannot rule out the importance of prayers. I read here where people engage in different and lengthy spiritual practices. I also prayed and fasted for just 3 days and God got involved.

Submit your pending applications now......

I pray that God will come through for as much as many applications this year, especially those ones that that overdue/overstayed for a decision.

I'm available to answer questions hear....if you come to my TL for private engagement or documents, na billing ooooo.... Looking for Raba noww

OldwomanWoman:
Words of advise to women who are coming without their spouses..if you coming with kids..get ready!!! I notice nobody talks about the reality on ground…It will hit hard, you will question why you embarked on the journey..

Don’t let any agent deceive you to leave your spouse behind..I know they say it increases one’s chance ..who go get visa to get visa or better still..come alone first and do all the ground work then your kids can you later..

People are not giving on their first few months as international student with kids and no spouse.

If you insist, pls come into the country earlier..like two months before resumption..common mistakes women without their spouse make..

Come with plenty money too..plenty plenty money..if you know anyone in Canada (family) connect with them to see if they can accommodate pending when your sort accommodation..

Accommodation is one hell of a task for women with kids..you will go through hell and back before you find one .. even if you can prove that you can afford they won’t still give..

Last last some of us paid 6 months upfront!

Not to put fears but prepare yourself..prepare hard!

Don’t make the mistake of coming alone without spouse..spouse can accompany, then he returns once you are settled..

The worst time to travel as a mom with kids and no spouse is winter!!!!!!

No fears..just prepare yourself! Relocation is huge! Prepare!!!!!!

@OldWomanWoman, thanks for looking out for other women. I believe this conversation rarely comes up here because this is a thread for those who are trying to obtain study permit. It is however quite important that people who have gone ahead should give back like you are doing, by giving helpful survival pointers. You mentioned that the man should be around until the family settles down, do you think this can be done within a month? what do you mean by the woman coming to prepare the ground? How long will you consider a good length of time for the woman to have spent ( preparing the ground) before the children can her? Can you just generally throw more light on the situation? Thank you

• Study leave approval from my employer.
• Introduction letter from my local Church.
• Letter of Ordination from my Church.

MARRIAGE LICENSE/CERTIFICATE
• Marriage Certificates (Church and Court).
• Name change publication for spouse.
• Birth certificates for the kids.
• Over 50 pictures (during courtship, during wedding, during the christening of our kids, pictures with spouse at a volunteering event, family photographs). I cropped the pictures and put an average of 3 pictures on each page. Also, I sequenced the pictures such that they tell our family story from inception.

CLIENT INFORMATION
Here, I included a background that the property owned by my spouse would be included under her application for OWP. Then, included a Table of contents and attached the following documents, which could not be added in other sections due to file size constraint.
• Land Documents (Receipts, Sales Contract, Deed of Assignment, Survey, Advert showing an increase in the price of the land)
• Documents for 2 cars.
• Mum's International port. (I showed her visa page and some travel stamps, since me I no get travel history).
• Affidavit/Birth certificates for some of my siblings.
• CSCS Statements for Stock/shares inherited from my late dad who died over 20 years ago. (The shares are still in my dad’s name. I explained that my family intends to obtain a Letter of istration and these shares will be captured therein).
• My picture with my CEO and an EXCO member at an official outing.
• Training Certificates.

PROOF OF MEANS OF FINANCIAL
• SOP (9 pages). I tried to reduce it but my story long.
• Documents relating to the Payment of 50% initial deposit ($17,900 CAD).
• Documents relating to my current employment (employment letter, confirmation, promotion and 4 months’ Pay slips).
• Evidence of Available/Dedicated Fund:

I provided Explanatory Notes on 3 bank s.
1. My salary (where I deposited our naira POF)
2. My USD (where we deposited our dollar POF)
3. My spouse’s salary (Here, I just stated that this is her salary ).

Under each of the , I explained salient points such as lump sums that I wanted the VO to be aware of and included relevant documents e.g. bonus letter from my employer.
For my naira and my wife’s salary , I provided bank statements for exactly 4 months but for the USD , I provided statement for 1 year because it was just a 2-page document and I wanted to convince the VO that the was legit even though I had only a few transactions on it.

Asides these, I included an addendum which belongs to my spouse.
We created and liquidated several Fixed Deposit investments in that and sizable part of our POF came from this addendum .
Asides the bank Reference letter, I also included the statement because I felt it would better convince the VO. The had a rather unusually high transaction volume in 4 months and a balance of just N500k.
I carefully explained the meaning of some terminologies used on the statement too e.g. FD booking.

• Letter of Introduction from my Pension Fund .
• Investment Certificate and statement from an investment company for an existing investment (the letter clearly states that my wife and I have an unrestricted access to the funds).
• Deed of Partition and evidence of rental income on the property inherited from my late date

I included several hyperlinks on my SOP, my wife’s SOP and the cover letters for the kids. For instance, where I mentioned key words such as “Institute of Chartered ants”, Pension Reforms Act, 2014 etc., I ensured that they were modified to be hyperlinks, which would take the VO to the respective websites. I did this so it is easy for the VO for confirm the various terminologies/claims/entities independently.

My spouse and I have no travel history. Therefore, I stated in my SOP that we have been saving consciously towards my studies overseas, so we denied ourselves several luxuries such as travelling on vacations.

Just to mention, asides the funds that were available in bank and investment s, I stated that I would be saving specific amount towards my masters program from my subsequent salaries and 13th month allowance.
And that in the period, my family will depend on my wife’s salary and the balance from my own salary (I had previously established the fact that my wife and I save and invest together. Moreover, all my salary and allowances go straight into her based on my bank statement history).

@ManlikeDee. Glory be to God!!! He will always take the glory. I am sorry your application was denied. It is not the time to give up, rather, you may need to really restrategize. Request the GCMS note again, and really look inward to see if there was anything in your past that is haunting your applications. Take your time, make your findings and strategically refire. If you are married, you consider making your wife the primary applicant. For what is what, can you tell us how you address the reasons ( particularly the modest financial?) given in the GCMS notes? Take heart Brother and I really look forward to reading your extraordinary testimony.

@2preety4u

Many thanks for your response.

1. Did you base your calculations on the 10,000USD for the main applicant, 4,000USD for Spouse and 3,000USD for each child or was there any other basis.

2. I have noted your reference to return flight money ( and I am wondering did you give an estimate or you actually could get the cost of the return ticket for a 2 year gap?

3. Just to confirm that your husband is a business owner and not an employee like me? and he was also your sponsor right? ( I am asking to confirm if it will not be a problem for the sponsor to show intent to travel along with the student)

Many thanks again for your prompt response.

2pretty4u:

Thank you. To your questions;

1) my husband wrote a letter of intent, stating why he wants to travel with me and how it will not affect his business. He also Stated his reasons for applying for SOWP. To work a while in Canada and use whatever knowledge and experience he gets back home in Nigeria.

2) the years of study will determine how much you will need. For 2yrs, we provided 2years tuition and living expenses for the all family. We also included to and fro flight money, which we stated in the POF.

3) read, research and screenshot any important information you read, you might need it later.

I hope I was able to address your questions.

Congratulations @2preety4u!!! God is indeed great. Is there anyone I can get in touch with you as my wife ( the prospective student) and I are also considering a family application? Or perhaps you can offer guidance here for the benefit of others. I am the sponsor and I do not intend to leave my work ( plan to work remotely sometimes and also on site), but I will rather apply for SOWP. Getting a leave of absence from my employer is practically impossible but I can get a visa letter/letter of introduction.

1. How did your husband justify wanting to travel with you and the request for SOWP?
2. We are a family of four ( my kids are US citizen), what amount do you think we should have reserved for this?
3. Given what you now know, what advice will you give to those of us who are just starting?

Again a big congratulations to you, I have read your posts and it is so good to see that you faith did not fail you.

And please the gurus can also chip in here.

WHAT I DID DIFFERENTLY

1, I paid my first-semester tuition in my first application. So, for my second application, I paid the second-semester tuition too

2, My spouse deposited 4M Naira (bulk sum) into my for my one-year upkeep.

3, I moved the money from my mutual benefit money market in Stanbic IBTC to a regular in GTB. I explained why I moved it. The money was there in the first application, but I felt the VO was of the opinion that it would not be easily accessible. I showed a trail of how I moved it with bank alerts and stated that the has been in operation for years and all the money was ours, with no bulk payment from outside sources.

Hello, can anyone share their experience with the One- Day Covid 19 Testing entry requirement into the US.

1. Where did you do the test?
2. Is it available at the airport?
3. Is it the PCR Test or the rapid test?
4. How much did you do it ?

Just the basic questions about purpose of traveling and all. She ( the interviewer) mentioned i stayed longer than my husband and wanted to know why, so we mentioned the childbirth. She also wanted to know if we will be using medical services this time around and we said no as the purpose of this trip is vacation.

The current renewal is not for birthing.
Congratulations Lawode!! ..This is truly a relief ......our interview is in 2 months time....Can you what questions the VO asked? Did you mention to the VO that the Visa is for vacation or childbirth? ..sorry for the plenty questions..just a bit nervous

Good morning, I know this might be a relief for someone out there as I also looked everywhere for it. We had our kids in the US on a medical visa. I went for a B1/B2 interview sometimes last week with my husband. We compiled all the documents that may be useful (receipts and zero balance) and prayed to God for favour. The interviewer did not touch on the births until we mentioned it ( this could have been a trap) and no further questions were asked about receipts. We discussed the reason for the trip and he wanted to know if my husband was sponsoring, which he confirmed ( husband earns six figures ) and that was it. We got an approval! The only thing I know we did was prayers and faith in God.
