My CV and educational certificates

On same boat with that Oga up there.
3m but civil engineer.
I really want to consider Russia or Brazil.
Still doing my research though, next year must not mebye without accomplishing this goal by the grace of God.

3 million will be enough for either of Russia or Brazil. Brazil has free tuition. The problem with Brazil is that, you can't get ission if you can't speak Portuguese.

Us?? How
It's the standard in the US. If you read my earlier write up, you will see the steps to achieve this. If that's not sufficient for you, you'll have to research more.

Can a person do PhD without masters?

Just with a bachelor's degree?
Yes. In the US, it's the standard.

Do you know any fully funded scholarship to Canada?

Most schools give fully funded scholarships for research masters and PhD. Shoot your shots directly to the schools. Of course, you should know that your application must be top-notch to get such an offer.

Bro, what can you tell me about migrating to new Zealand as a fresh graduate, to pursue a masters degree but also to have peace of mind?

Also how much is required? And the processes?

Thank you.
I'd encourage you to search out the New Zealand thread in this travel section and get all the knowledge you seek. But Newzealand is a top-notch destination if you want a sane developed environment combined with a great weather.

However, I must warm you that MSc in Newzealand is damn expensive. It costs over #8million naira per year, and you will pay this twice for 2 years. This is besides your living expenses. Scholarships are available, but very limited and competitive. Newzealand/Australia are in a league of their own.

PLEASE HELP ME TOO

I finished with 2.2 in engineering and I have 3m saved up. Which country/countries do you think I should focus on to do masters in IT, and also get a job to keep me when I run out of funds and can also stay back after my masters for better life. Suggestions please

With your 3million, I'd suggest you shoot a shot at Sweden (if you can provide good POF) or Russia in Europe. If there's anyway you can double that cash, you can shoot for Norway or . Some cheap schools in Canada may also be feasible for you, you just have to look at the right places.

If you like Asia, you can shoot for South Korea. If you want to have some change with you, you can shoot for Thailand.

If you like Africa, you'll be amazed at how much IT knowledge and a sane environment you can get from Rwanda, and if you are willing to set up a business there (maybe IT dependent), PR is easy to get.

Thanks a lot.
Good advice. Please for PHD THe procedure is same?

This advice is even more suitable for PhD since ission in over 95% of cases comes with full funding. For MSc, full funding's chance is as low as 40% and the funny thing is that the qualifications you need for MSc are exactly the same with that for PhD. So I always advice folks to go for PhD instead of MSc, except you have phobia for reading.

Guys what do you think about Sweden? How is their student visa denial rate ?

Sweden is good. Denial rate is low, but you need to have or find a way to prepare a very fantastic POF. In addition, you'll pay tuition fee.

Can you help out please with schools I can apply with.. Canada and the US or Europe. I have the funds. But not too much all I want is just information. On schools I can apply with and start processing ASAP. Thanks

There are thousands of schools to apply to, you just have to do your research to know what perfectly fits you. You can send me a mail let me forward some US schools whose ission deadline falls within the next 3 months to you.

But that for most US schools, applying is a waste of time if you haven't written the GRE.

Europe is also a good option. Your budget should determine your choice of location. , UK, Netherland, Norway, Sweden, , Russia, etc. are popular locations with differing costs.

I really want to build my career in this field, so I'd love to practice it even after migration. though I know it would require some certifications from my country of residency before I practice, I don't mind.
Any help from the house would be appreciated.

I think it's best you look at Western countries.

So there is no hope for a 2.2 grad in the US or Canada if one wants to do a masters.
There's hope if you're willing to sponsor yourself, and that doesn't come cheap.

However, there's always an exception to the rule, if you need funding, I'd advice you to research different schools and see if you could get lucky with your grade, especially if you can smatch the GRE and cover up other aspects of your application.

Please be kind to list the Asian countries.
I am also considering migrating via study route.
Would be 31 next year
Civil engineering (HND)
post nysc experience is 2 years( though I've worked for about 3 yrs before nysc)
My budget is 2m
I am single.
Next year is my target sincerely.

It depends on why you want to travel. Is it to build your career as a civil engineer or just to leave Nigeria to a place where you can have a good and comfortable life with any legal job?

is th GRE procedure also advisable for me or any other advice?

With 1m?
Yes, you read right. Read up where I earlier broke down the expenses involved. But it's not for every Tom, Dick and Harry. Make sure you have at least a 2,1 and get a fantastic score in the GRE exam, na US schools go dey rush you.

This cannot work for everyone. This method is only for those who made excellent or close to excellent CGPA's. If you had poor 2.2 or 3rd class and have work experience, I will advise you not to waste your time, go via work permit route. Poland is doing wonders in this aspect.
Yes, you are right it can't work for everyone. If you are observant, you'll notice that it's a direct response to the dude that made a first class.

What will you recommend for a graduate with a below 3.0 CGPA.

Will ing SAT count for a graduate with 2'2?
As a graduate you don't need to write SAT, you can only write GRE. But your CGPA is low so it might be very difficult for you to get fully funded.

You can state your skills and/or profession, preferred destination and your travel budget to get a better advice.

please am interested

I have bed in educational psychology(first class) and I can raise 1million please how can you help me?

Visit the General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 15 here on travel section and GRE thread in education section. Read it from the beginning to the end, you will know what to do.

But the summary is:
1) Prepare for GRE like your life depends on it. Make sure you get a good score. It's a maths and English exam. It costs circa $200

2)Prepare for TOEFL and get a good score. It's an English exam. It costs circa $200

3) Learn how to write a personal statement.

4) Research for US schools that meet your needs and apply to as many schools in the US as you can. I recommend you apply to 3 schools. Each application costs between $50 to $80. I also recommend you target PhD programs because they give you full funding plus monthly stipends automatically the moment you get itted. And you can apply to PhD with only BSc.

5)Get ission, pay your SEVIS fee, I think it's circa $200 and Visa fee.

6) Prepare and go for your visa interview and succeed.

7)Book your flight to the US.

NB: Don't fail to go to the US students thread I recommended earlier and the GRE thread in education section. Also make sure you have your transcript with you, and have 2 to 3 of your undergraduate lecturers that are willing to write an amazing recommendation letter for you.

Thailand, Indonesia,Cambodia. The easiest job in these countries that I know of that pays quite well (above $800 monthly) is teaching job. Just research them well to know what you'll need to begin. But your money will be more than enough to take you there.

Bro i want to go for BSc but US seems like the first option for every Nigerian, I want somewhere low key and good. I have more than a million naira but i don't want to use it on what might not work. E go pain me. Abeg help!!

If you have up to #6 million you can target Norway. You don't pay tuition fees, but you'll need over #5milla for living expenses. A similar thing applies to , but you will need your 100level Nigeria University transcript for , which I guess you don't have.

You can also look at Russia. I think you'll see schools that require less than #1million for tuition.

You are avoiding USA, if not you can write SAT, blast the exam and get fully funded.

You can also visit the Canada thread on Nairaland to see if you can get cheap schools there.

If you can learn Portuguese, you can get a free education in Brazil, and I think Uruguay (Spanish).

You are looking for countries that are big and are not "shitholes", if not I would have recommended some Asia countries where school fees is cheap and you can be working.

So go through this list and make a decision.

All the best.

What's your qualification and class of degree?
If you have a BSc and you can raise #1million naira (this includes your flight ticket money), there's big hope for you in the US.

I'm really sorry about this. There's a few things I'd like to say....

1) Be you. The job market is huge. Have you heard the Ugandan accent before? I have a friend who has been working here for years and is Ugandan.

2) Start small. I've said this before fore. That company is nice walai and from the looks of it, a big one cos not many of them can send that mail with better English like that.

3) Grow a thick skin. You'd probably get many more mails like that and in a not so nice format

4) For now, quit trying and this goes to others trying now. Borders are not open. No school has the money to bring you in now and pay your quarantine fees too except big international schools and yes they will go for a native instead

That being said, no one has complained about my accent. If for anything, they commend it, I've always know this since I was still in Nigeria though.

If accents can be worked on, maybe you should spend more time working on it...if it's possible. You can also send me the video let me watch and give inputs.

All the best

Thanks for your input and sharing your experience. Yes, it's a big organization, I suspect that that's the reason for them being very selective and picky. From what you've said, it seems the smaller organizations will be less selective of accents. At the appropriate time like you recommended, I will shoot my shots.

By the way, thanks for responding to my pm. I already sent you an email explaining this situation. Like you requested, I have sent you the video. Please go through and revert.

Thankssssss.

The problem is you definitely faked an accent, it's easier to use your normal Nigerian accent than trying to fake an American accent. It was probably an American that reviewed your submission.

And the bolded is not true, I have spoken to a lot of foreigners they understand what you saying more with your normal accent than trying to sound American you will always sound funny to them.

At the bolded, you were not there with me in the video. I, who made the video, told you that I didn't fake the accent. Don't you think it's very wrong to claim that I "definitely" faked the accent? I posted my observation because I wanted a candid advice, it would be foolish for me to have a headache and yet tell a doctor that I have abdominal cramps.

About your second paragraph, if you take a close look at the response I got from the organization, you will notice that they acknowledged that they could understand me. In fact, the writer said he personally enjoys listening to different accents, but his students may have problem with pronunciation of other accents. So understanding is not the problem here. The problem is that they claim that the target students will not be comfortable with my "Nigerian accent".

The foreigners that you spoke to, did you speak to them on a normal daily conversation basis or you were being interviewed for an English teaching job? If it's the former, that's not enough to prove your point because people may push themselves just to be able to communicate with you when there's no money at stake to be paid by them (for example, if you visit your mother-in-law, who can only understand pidgin English, will you come down to her level to speak pidgin English with her or you will be blowing big grammar that she cannot understand? Compare your answer to a situation where you are the owner of a secondary school, and you are interviewing a teacher who is communicating with you in pidgin English. Will you employ the teacher?)

Finally if the conversation you had was an English teaching job interview, did you get the English teaching job with your Nigerian accent? If you did, then thumbs up for you, your argument is valid.

I feel you faked your accent and never used the normal Nigerian accent due to fear you would be judged on that
No, I didn't fake it. Although my accent is far above the average Nigerian accent. From this verdict, it's apparent that the average Nigerian accent will be totally unacceptable by this organization. This corresponds with @molbic's observation that his normal Nigerian accent was highly flawed when he listened to himself on radio. I don't know if the same holds true for other organizations.

Do you have a real life experience? Please share.

. oh so sorry my g but questions for you are : were you faking accent or you were using normal Nigerian accent because I never knew I had an accent until I listened to my self on a radio and microphone and I was annoyed with it.. although since I noticed I had worked on it and it's better now
Thanks. Please share how you worked on it.
