Guys pls has anyone tried exchanging clothes bought in the US after five months. Bought lots of clothes for my baby but she has outgrown most of it. Don't mind exchanging it for bigger sizes. D tags are still intact. Do you think the stores will agree? 6-24mths some of which are the same fit irrespective of the size on the label.

Yes, this does truly help. I hope its not too late though going by the tone of your post.
Thank you so much.

Please what brand of electric breast pump did you use?

I was in the US so i had access to Medela symphony hospital grade breast pump . Its expensive (about $1600)but most hospitals there offer it for hire then you buy the other parts that touch your skin. I hired it for a week then i bought Medela Pump in Style Advanced Breast Pump with On the Go Tote. You may find it in konga or jumai or if you have someone coming to naija. see how it looks

https://www.amazon.com/Medela-Pump-Style-Advanced-Breast/dp/B004HWXCJS/ref=sr_1_1_s_it?s=baby-products&ie=UTF8&qid=1475756380&sr=1-1&keywords=medela%2Belectric%2Bpump&th=1

The suction level for both was really good and in a lil while i was leaking milk on my blouse like mad.i don't know other electric pump but this one is really good. You may need a step down cos i changed my plug when i got back

make sure you are pumping every three to four hours for 15-20 mins even at nite. this is the sacrifice you have to pay to establish milk supply

My igbo folks say local palm wine helps with milk flow ( i ven't tried it oh!)

Hello mothers in the house: Onegai, AlphaHandMaiden, Rofemiguwa, Soonest, Doubledouble, Tojued, Helovesme and all other mamas, please;

My DS of 7weeks has been pooing all day. Pooed a total of 5 times today. It started yesterday evening. Please what can I do about this? Please.
It's also worth mentioning that he is not on breastmilk at all, sad only NAN1.

About the breastmilk, please I need advice on that too. When he was born, I didn't lactate immediately. Eventually I did but he just won't latch on. I expressed both with my hand and with a manual breast pump, even at midnight like mama AlphaHandMaiden advised, the most I ever got was 90ml!
And then the breastmilk started dwindling to 10/15ml. Till I stopped all together.

Now the doctor wants to bring back the breastmilk, placed me on a med already. My question is, even if breastmilk supply comes back, how do I make DS latch? As at today, he still wouldn't latch.
How do I keep breastmilk from drying up again?

Please mothers in the house, all suggestions, ideas, advices are welcome. Thank you.

Sweethrt why did you wait for so long b4 seeking help. The same thing happened to me. My dear manual breastpump CANNOT help you, cause i tried it and my baby wouldn't latch. So why i was still training my baby to latch i was ensuring i was expressing with an ELECTRIC pump to keep my breast from drying up and expressing more milk. That first stopped her from drinking formula. Please act quick 7 weeks is alot of time lot. You will be surprised at the amount of milk you will express with an electric pump. Lastly baby may not latch cause he is not getting much, which is the work your electric pump will do for you cause breast milk production is on a demand and supply basis.

PS. manual pumps can be used by those whose breast milk flow has been established not by you who wants to start..

Hope this help. Truly information is key

Dear Mamas,
Gave birth yesterday to a bouncing baby boy @ north side atlanta. Dr V.Andrews is my obgyn but didn't take delivery.
Please I will be back to give my birth story but I need to know about circumcision at north side.

Iinitially I planned to do it in naija since Dr Andrews fee for circumcision is 495 but the nurses here are encouraging me to do it at north side though they claim not to know the cost and the billing department isn't open weekends.

Please any North side mama with boys? Please help.

Also I was asked if I wanted TDap vaccine for myself but I declined it cos I don't know if it is free and they said it wasn't compulsory. Did any north side mama take TDap?

Please help urgently. Thank you!

take d Tdap it protects ur newborn against common infections, u don't need it though cos I didn't take it. U can take d hep b vaccine at ur ped's office I belief it ll b cheaper. I gave birth to a girl at north side but I won't advise u to circumcise ur baby cos north side ll kill u with their besides wat did u expect d nurses to tell u.

Hi all, want to give back and so you dont make some mistakes i made too. lol

Gave birth at Northside hospital. i give God the glory. my obgyn was Dr dodder she was so encouraging during all the pain and accurately predicted my labour day which was obviously different from my due date. nice huh!

Hospital bill advance pay -3550 got additional 226 bill ( They didn't explain much but i guess i would prefer to reject the nursery and ask more questions next time)

Epidural - 3000 with 25% discount 2250 (Didn't expect to pay this much, if i knew it would come down to this i would have chopped the pain like that lol. North side anesthesiologist which is separate from the hospital

Obgyn- used North Atlanta Obgyn - charged 2200 and used my Nigerian lab test which you have to insist on

pediatrician- used Children's care pediatrics, Dr John M. Thomas- first and second visit at the hospital cost 115 after discounts. subsequent visits were made which are at your discretion and you pay for each visit.

infant ticket -363 united airline paid over the phone (paying at the airport may b cheaper)
Us port -105 plus 60 expedited ( if you have almost 3 weeks b4 you leave, just use the normal route. dont pay for expedited) my brother got his in 2 weeks one day.

Naija port is cheaper than getting a visa. its 77 plus 30 processing fee. if you want it same day you pay 65 more. There are agents at the embassy that charge 28 to help you make payment. also go with a prepaid postage envelope if you want it mailed to you so you dont ve to go back for pick up and keep the tracking numbers.

Hep b vaccine can b taken at birth or at the ped. pls ensure you get yours.

Thanks all. please google for phone numbers and safe delivery to other mums.g out.

Hi mums, my Lo is 5 weeks old and breaking out on her face. I use sebamed bath soap and cream and ori (Shea butter) for her hair which doesn't really oil her hair as she has really dry hair and scalp. Last Saturday my mum applied my coconut oil on her hair and used d remaining on her hand to moisturise her face. This was done for two days and since then she has tiny reddish pimple like things on her face, even some on d hair. I suspect it's d coconut oil which I stopped immediately after the second day but it hasn't cleared.pls

1. What do I do to make it go?
2. What cream or oil can I apply to her hair as d Shea butter doesn't really moisturize d hair.
3. Recently bought Johnson baby oil but I am so scared to use it on her hair so I don't increase what's already on her face.

Pls can I get a number to reach u.am getting depressed my baby is still der day 6.her sugar level got beta on Sunday. Today it went down again.still not feeding with bottle well and ve been discharged without her I go daily to stay with her till evening

Sorry to hear about what your going through but be strong. Is your Breast milk flowing if not you need to stimulate it using a Breast pump as LO ll need it as soon as she is able to feed on her own. You can hire a Medela hospital grade pump from the lactation services in hospital or Google "medical supply stores" close to you. You only need to buy the parts that of the other parts which cost about $30 on Amazon. They ll explain better to you if you do agree to hire before you get your own pump. Cos electric pumps r really expensive. Be strong, God is always faithful

I hope they wont turn me back when I appear and say am going to El Paso, my application had Atlanta although no be childbirth I collect visa for....I bin dey think sha....abeg someone i know just ended up with usd24k bill at Northside after 75% discount o. I cannot stay in ATl and be washing plates to pay medical bills. I always wanted to use that hospital but seriously I don't personally know anyone that has paid less than 18k there, small complications na gbege!

No laugh me too much o.

No offense but you do know pple use this to extort money from their husbands. I did get a lil above the normal 3550. Don't know if it was because I used the nursery cos they dont tell you where the increase came from but I didn't reach 4000. Did your friend ve "serious" complications, coz that's the only justification for the kind of bill.

It is my turn to share my testimony.

My LO was born yesterday 11th May 2016. Some of you would recall how my Dollars were stolen by my help before my trip. I was well prepared to follow it up and post everywhere about it but after my first doctors appointment here, the stolen money was irrelevant to me.

The doctor did a scan and said she found spots on my LO's heart that were indicative of either a hole in the heart or downs syndrome. I began to pray and believe God even though I was very shaken by the news.

Long story short, she arrived yesterday and is completely fine. She followed me straight from the OR to the postpartum recovery room. me praise the Lord. I'm one happy mumma.

congrats dear, God will replace all that was taken.

Thanks everyone for your help. I think my case is peculiar. Don't know if as a result of the epidural or drugs given at the hospital cos I did tear a lot and was in lots of pain. I m on pap, nsala, fluids. Using manual breast pump to stimulate though it comes out in tiny drops, which I give her to lick. Hoping to get the mothers milk tomorrow and probably see a lactation specialist . Thanks guys, it has not been easy physically and psychology. I also have a swollen feet to add to it. Labour was indeed labour, I was literally crying and after 9 hrs of contraction I was told I was just 5cm. Even to check how dilated I was so painful. My mom was still encouraging me to continue. Omo! I told her to leave me, I no fit do Hebrew woman again. Screamed for the epidural. The nurse was just taking her time to set up and call the dr. if no say we dey obodo oyinbo I wanted to give her a piece of my mind. Anyways, Seeing my lil princess made it all worth it.

My powdered milk was not seized. Don't know abt liquid ones.

@ifycharm, kemmytino, how did you make your payments to Northside hospital? I asked them for bank details and they replied saying they don't accept wire transfers.

Kindly help out.

You have to pre-, which you can do yourself online on the hospital website. Give it like seven days after filling d form. Any item on the form you cannot answer eg your SSN put 9999. This ll let you go to the next page.

I went back alone with my first child.

Travel light oh, very essential because there are certain things you need for the trip with baby ie diapers and the rest. I would advise that you go with your breastfeeding cover and nurse your baby jeje.

Make sure you get the bassinet seat oh, you'll need the sleep. To be honest sef you may find it hard to sleep but at least you should rest when baby sleeps instead of carrying baby all through.

Check in your car seat and stroller with the cabin crew so you can get it as soon as you alight from the flight.

Put all your essentials into a small bag. Diapers, wipes, change of clothes and the rest so you can put them under your seat.

Pls is it ok to book a wheel chair on the return leg.

Abeg who knows list of shopping mall in Houston way no cost ooo very affordable ones for my baby stuff cloth etc and my self and hubi too .

Burlington coat factory, ross (dress for less), jc penny and kohls, all these have both adult and children. you can also shop online for baby clothes at children's place.com, carters.com, Gymboree.com, crazy8.com or visit their stores. Also try macy's store for adult items you may be surprised at the prices of things on clearance in their stores, just ask for the price check machine to scan items that have been marked down to see the current prices. Burlington and ross are the best for affordable things, the others are based on luck.

This is from my experience in Atlanta but I believe should be applicable in Houston too.

I never drop o! counting down. The traffic is not so bad. I said so considering how terrible naija traffic can be but it usually happens in the evenings. So it's best you can to the malls early in the morning by 10am and leave before it builds up.

Walmart, Amazon, Burlington. I bought a delta children's sweet beginnings bassinet. was on sale for about $49 at the time. however, it requires coupling for use (screws et al) and uncoupling for your return trip. I like DIY so this was not a problem. I brought it back with me, it fit into one of those extendable bags and was not too heavy. If you do not want one that requires a lot of coupling, you can try the dream on me karley bassinet. I think its just a snapping mechanism to set up and dismantle. its about $70 i think.

Thanks dear
