Well well well! As promised here is my landing gist.

Set out from home at about 2pm and got to the airport by past 3. We entered into the terminal and they were saying only I and another 1 person can enter. “”They need you to drop something’. Once we entered the airport, we were directed to customs immediately where they wanted to search my bags and was asking whats inside, I just said books and clothes, squeezed 1k and they said bye bye. (Couldn’t allow them start scattering). Once I was done, I was directly to the agricultural part, to declare what I have and they open your bags, they give you a card and you pay 2k ( I didn’t declare shit, told them theres no food in it, you can just slip away from here) after that you’re done with that.

Then I went straight to my airline, klm started checking in by 4pm, got there early so I was like number 3 on the line. While my bag was being weighed, excess luggage (33kg and 27kg) hand luggage was 9kg and 7kg, the guy just told us to go and reduce or pay 203 USD, my sister the expert just told me not to worry, and we stood one side, before 10mins some guys approached in uniform, the baggage guys, and started doing all the help and asking how much we want to pay, we drag drag drag, and agreed 30k. They then helped me repack the boxes, to a max of 27kg each and my hand luggage was 12kg and 8kg.
While all this baggage wahala was on going, i went to submit documents and port where the guy asked for just Enrollment letter, fee receipt, ission letter and negative covid result. He took it and asked another guy and gave me back, scanned my port and that was all. No sending to someone via whatsapp or all that.

After my bags were done, i just took them to the counter where they were tagged and gave me my boarding and that was it with bags. In the rush and bag repacking, I didn’t lock/wrap my ghana must go before sending in. Chai I wan die! But thank God it was fully intact.

Proceeded to the departure gate, bided family good bye and I entered.

First encounter is a single immigration officer where you your port and , (na where roger start be this) cus they will ask and its better to give. 500 each for anyone way hail me.

Then the other immigration where you would scan your port, fingerprints, take pictures, check your visa, and roger. If you dont have anything to give, sha make sure you check that they stamp your port with exit stamp.

You then go to body scan, take off your belts shoes, laptop and all that, no problems here.

Then to customs again (final place) : This place they would ask how much you are carrying and declaring, if you have over 10k USD dont just bother declaring it, nothing go happen, if you declare be like say charges dey oo. This is in Nigeria ooo. When you get to CA please and please, declare it.

After this I proceeded to the boarding gate! and bye bye to Nigeria!!


Landed in Amsterdam, Netherlands at about 5:30 WAT, and proceeded to arrival hall, where there was a screen displaying all flights and gate to be at, found my gate and kept walking there, there are signs everywhere, so no need to even ask anyone anything, this airport is damn large! The walk no be small. This is where I waited till my flight time, easy peasy. Made a friend so had him watch over my bags while I went to freshen up a bit and vice varsa.
I sha got something light to each, cus 6 hours wait no be small, this is where the conversation syndrome got me, got a sandwich, candy and water for 12euros thats 6k+ (Pic 1) I just dey shake head. Ate, and waited for time to board. This was it for Netherlands.


Flight to Calgary

What a long flight, leaving Netherlands by 12:30pm and flying 8+ hours only to get to Calgary 1:30pm, omo! The time difference. This flight time didn’t make it interesting as I couldn’t open window to enjoy the view, hot sun and reflection. On this flight food was a bit fair.

When we got to calgary, proceeded into the airport, first point of is to self checkin, this is where you declare your stuffs, food, excess cash, sickness, this and that, and how long you will spend in Canada, I enter 730 days, as per 2years, then the machine gives you a ticket. I then proceeded to CBSA, the guy asked to my ticket and port, which I did, asked what brings me to canada, asked what course. Asked how much I had with me, since I already declared above 10k CAD. He then asked for my arrive Can, Study Authorizations letter (This is what we’ve been calling LOi) and covid test. He asked if i have any documents to my studies i then ed my ission letter, enrollment letter, tuition receipt, statement of , asin I just dey give am. He asked what food stuffs I brought, and I ed a printed copy of food stuffs I brought, I typed it already. He had to smile and said ‘I like you, you’re very much prepared’ I said thanks. I honestly almost said, thank God for Nairaland.
He gave me some Covid forms and returned my port. I then proceeded to pick up my bags. After picking up, then I was directed to where they issue study permit gaan gaan. The same documents asked for by the CBSA officer is what you give them here, and they put in a file, then tell you to go and sit down. They call your name when its your turn. After about 20mins I was called, you go there with your luggage, based on your declaration, the food stuffs are checked, just make sure to pack food in one luggage so they dont unpack all your luggage. After this, the officer him self filled a form for me, for the amount declared and gave me a copy. When I was done, he told me to meet his colleague, that one has already printed my permit, and stapled to my port so when I got there, she just opened and read the conditions for me. No stress at all!!

Ps: omo this CBSA female officers must have been handpicked, cus choi!! them no lack at all lmao.

I was then directed to where covid testing is done. Did my test, and headed out to the parking bay to wait for my hotel shuttle.

Ps: To avoid delay prebook your covid test, when you book online you get a booking Code, with this code, you will already skip alot of waiting time.


I thank God for journey mercies!! Make I no lie, Canada na better place! Nice people everywhere, from security to driver to erby, to hotel boys ands staffs.

NSE Request Letter - Dec 24
Upfront Medicals. - March 24
Medicals Updated. - April 12
Letter of Refusal. - April 27

My application was processed via the normal route. I was denied based on Personal Assets blah blah, cos I know I finished them with my SOP godi.

I'm back now and willing to help as many as I can on this journey or lemme just say application
I'm willing to go through as many SOPs as I can.
I'm ready to answer as many questions as possible.
Let's all get involved in any little way we can.

My advice to everyone who's yet to apply or waiting for a decision?
Please do not be scared. I know it sounds impossible but on the long run you'll discover your fear and worry doesn't change anything.
If your application was denied, don't give up too. Keep refiring until you hit your target.

From Abuja to Toronto using Ethiopian airline;
My flight was on the 17th of May by 1:35pm but I got to the airport by 9:15 to check in and prepare myself for excess luggage (which at the end, I didn’t get)

At the Abuja airport; they asked for;
port, with stamped study visa
Enrollment letter
COVID test
Hotel quarantine plans
Flight ticket.

Little advice; you could wrap your luggage at the airport cause of change of aircraft to about tear or manhandling of your luggage. I think it’s 500 naira per baggage.
To be honest, the food served on Ethiopian airline wasn’t bad for me, we were served basmati rice with either beef, chicken or curry sauce.

At Addis Abba I was only asked for my port and boarding . Lay over was 2 hours.
We stopped at Dublin for refuel but we didn’t get down from the plane. We were there for like an hour and 30 mins or so.

On our way to Canada, we were given 3 different forms to fill, which they asked for at the Canadian immigration center at the Pearson airport.

At the Toronto airport, asked for my port and for me to drop my face mask so they could see my face, and give the reason for my trip. Then moved to a different side, where I was asked for enrollment letter, the forms I filled on the plane, COVID test result, ArriveCAN, ission letter.

One of the forms was signed and stamped. Then I moved to immigration side where I was asked questions like why I am in Canada, name of school, course, previous education, school fees receipt, port, filled forms, enrollment letter. After everything my port was stamped and I was given the official study permit. And they explained things like I am legible to work for some hours per week, and when the study permit will expire and co.

Went down stairs, got my luggage, then signed up for health switch for COVID test. Took a covid test and was given a personal COVID test kit to be taken on Day 8 of quarantine. Then hotel buses came to pick us from the airport depending on our individual hotels. Like 6 in the bus. I booked Crowne plaza, I paid $950 (USD) cash at the hotel. Will be leaving the hotel tomorrow morning ( done with quarantine).

So that’s it.

PPR JUST DROPPED!

My application journey is quite interesting, and I promised to share here if I get a PPR. So firstly, I applied using an agent. As a matter of fact, I got ission using one agent, and got the visa using another agent. My application made me come to the conclusion that using an agent is truly not worth it. Imagine that I paid 300k just to get a PGD ission in University of Winnipeg. Bygone, anyways - lucky agent. After my ission, I switched to another agent because my Dad, who previously didn’t show interest, decided to be involved. The second agent came through my dad (he paid the agent 250k or so) - he was recommended by my uncle. I gave him the LOA I paid 300k for, and he requested me to write my LOE. I was able to write a good LOE with the help of Google, and of course, Nairaland. I am sure you are wondering what exactly this agent was paid to do, if both LOA and LOE came from me. Me sef dey wonder lol.

APPLIED - DECEMBER 7
BIOMETRICS - DECEMBER 8

Na where wahala start be this. The whole journey was mentally exhausting. This agent fit make person crase with obvious lies and pretense. Want to make this as short as possible, so let me just drop one example. The agent was supposed to have applied long before the time he did. So we pressured him till he lied and made a fake medical request letter. In his own letter, the medical has to be done in 90 days, instead of the usual 30 days. Note that biometrics had not been done then oh. He also gave us fake biometrics appointment letter one time, and when the day came, he said IRCC has technical issues, and he would have to book another date. Basically, my whole journey with this agent was filled with altercations and mistrust. It got to a point, all we wanted was access to the portal, but this agent was giving stories like he didn’t know the offhand, and he would find it. Moving on...

ORDERED GCMS - MARCH 27

Fast forward to April ending, I hadn’t heard anything from this agent. Was checking this thread regularly and seeing even January applicants receive PPR. I decided to message this agent to remind him. This was when the agent logged into my portal and saw that I got medical request 8 days before.

MEDICAL REQUEST - APRIL 14

Finally, he was confident about the application, and dropped the details even without asking him.

MEDICALS DATE - APRIL 27

I was eager to get the PPR, and was checking my portal like every hour after I did the medicals. On the morning of April 29, I opened my portal, GUESS WHAT I SAW? Booooom! Procedural Fairness Letter - I wanted to faint even before opening the PFL.

PROCEDURAL FAIRNESS - April 29

I opened the PFL, and what I saw was that the VO has concerns that my Dad’s statement of is not genuine. I am to prove that it is genuine in 15 days, or I get 5 years ban. I was destabilized and scared to the bone. A lot ran through my mind in milliseconds.“ Could it be that this guy used a fake SOA, instead of the one we gave him?” “Could it be that he altered some transactions?” Picked up the phone to call this agent, and for like 2 hours, his number was switched off. I started feeling like he already saw the PFL, and was on the run.

Finally, we reached him, and he assured us that he used the SOA we gave him. He told us to go to the bank for MBS, and give IRCC a SOA that shows transactions till the date of the PFL. We did that immediately, but how could I trust someone who once gave us fake medical request and biometrics appointment letter?

I became restless since that minute I saw the PFL, and even after submitting MBS, I couldn’t still sleep or do anything. I was literally checking my portal uncountable times in a day.

MEDICAL ED - MAY 1

This should have been an update that would have made me rest assured of finally leaving this Nigeria, but I remained unhappy and restless because of the PFL.

GCMS NOTE RECEIVED - MAY 3

Finally, GCMS note came in yesterday night before I slept. Saw that everything has been ed. I also saw that instructions have been given that I get a study permit till 2023. Lastly, it was in the GCMS note that IRCC had messaged my Dad’s bank to confirm if the SOA is genuine, and they got response from the bank that it is genuine. This happened since the beginning of April.

The more I thought about the whole issue, the more it becomes obscure. I search Google tire to see if anybody don face the same issue before, but I no see anything.

To God be the glory sha, I opened my portal 12pm today, and I saw ORIGINAL PORT REQUEST! Booomshakalaka!!!!

Till now, I can’t explain what happened concerning that PFL thing, but I just thank God. I no even wan understand again sef lol. Thanks to everyone doing a good job here. You all will be forever appreciated.

Sure, it's fine. I opened mine via internet banking. I believe you would need a current first though, as the dom would be linked to it. It's a hassle visiting the bank to do this so try online - it's super easy; barely an inconvenience
