You no even thank God say na taya them shoot. These men mostly aim to kill.

Untill the minimum requirement to Nigeria police is a diploma, we wld continue experiencing things like this.

Most policemen are illiterate.
It's not about educational degree but proper orientation. Do we not have enough degree holders driving haywire on our roads already?

I'm just learning more about it here. I've Always believed it's generally bad. I think it's used more in the north.

Am using Hardex fully synthetic. 5w 30. The 5,000 miles or 6months is still applicable? or I should push further.. To 7,000miles

Personally, 5,000miles/6months is a little too early. This is an oil that could go 1yr to 10,000 miles. So, pushing it to 7,000 miles or 7-8 months should do. I do 7,000 miles or 8 months on my car with Kirkland 5w-30 Oil

if he is changing engine oil every 3000 miles..i think he is good to go with the mobil 2000

Full synthetic offers superior llubrication and temperature stability. So, even the semi-synthetic when new and unused, cannot be compared to the full synthetic. That means changing it after every 500 miles doesn't count.

Greetings to all Auto experts here.
My 2AZ Engine is shorting oil and there is sign of oil in the radiator. Looking at the cost of replacing the engine, should I rebuild the engine and if I rebuild, will it last long?

Please advise me.

Sounds like your head gasket is gone, for oil to appear in the radiator. If the rebuilder knows his onions and uses OEM parts, you're good to go.

Mobil Super 2000 is a semi-synthetic oil, and not a full synthetic oil, as recommended for your car. It's better you go for the full grade synthetic oil, which is Mobil1.

Mind you, be careful with where you source your oil. Our naija markets is full of adulterated engine oil, Mobil1 is one of them.

1...No, I don't think the engine still has its Thermostat on it. Because whenever I start the motor, the fan normally start turning immediately, and from what I have read lately, If the thermostat Is on it, it's not supposed to turn instantly.

2...The tyre size on the wheel Is 215/60/R16 but three of them has filed up, so I changed all 4 tires with my corolla tyre's 205/60/R16 and input the Camry tyre's on my corolla.

3...Yes, I have done an OBD scan when the speedometer stopped reading, It was the sensor on the tyre, it was replaced and the speedometer start working perfectly fine again.

From your , if no other code shows up on OBD scan and your tyres are within spec, I'll advise you revert to using thermostat in your engine because this would allow your engine to reach it's optimum temperature on time (and maintain the temperature as well).

But this might cost you alot if the engine has been on direct fan for a long time. Hence, i would advise you continue with the direct fan.

Moreso, i forgot to add that your recommended oil is synthetic 5w30 and not 20w50 or the likes. This has a lot of role to play too.

I'm done testing the Toyota Camry, I bought 25k fuel to test It, It went 55 kilometers before the fuel finished. Whereas on my corolla, 30k fuel normally goes 150km on average.

I love the camry, it looks bigger has more power, coupled with the fact that have spent a lot on it, I bought catalyst on it, I bought seat wrap, also used nylon to wrap it, I spend 54k yesterday to raise it, so that whenever I'm ing speed breaker the center of the car won't be touching ground, I bought a new compressor for the AC and also filled it with gas, I changed all 4 spark plugs, all 4 coils, I changed the engine oil yesterday, I bought new air filter, also jarbox oil and break fluid.

If I had known I would have tested the fuel consumption before doing all of these, it's such a pity that I wasted all these money all for nothing, now I intend selling it and continue using my corolla.

1. Does the engine still have it's thermostat in it?

2. What tyre size is on the wheel?

3. Have you done and OBD scan on the car?

Thanks so much.
For a foreign used, do we need to order it from abroad? I hear the cost of importation is quite high

You do not necessarily have to order it. There are car stands that sell Tokunbo cars, although many import accidented cars, then give them cosmetics to make them appealing to buyers (nothing wrong with that, if the car didn't suffer major impact though). This enables them to make reasonable profits, while their price isn't exorbitant.

Like someone noted, you MUST run the VIN of whatever car you settle with, this would enable you know the state of the car and its history before it came into the country. So you don't end up buying flooded or salvage cars. Run away from any car with rusts on its body frame and underneath.

Being a first time car owner, moreso, a female... I'll advise you go for a foreign used, for her peace of mind. You can definitely get a reliable Naija used though but it'll be expensive than the average ones you'll see around, considering it's been well maintained and in pristine condition.

Overall, pls go a foreign used. It'll reduce the time it'll take you to scout around. And go with someone that knows how and what to check out in cars. DO NO TRUST WHAT COMES OUT OF THE MOUTH OF THE DEALER, believe what you see and obd scan results.

All the best!

There are some prominent old that are like family here on nairaland. Their contributions to this platform cannot be over emphasizd. When anything happens to them, especially when we lost someone like Gazzuz, there should be an official information/concern from you Seun. You know well how this place was during the time of MrCock, Rokiatu, etc

There are so many instances i can talk about, if you need more. In all sincerity, nairaland has lost it's core values. It's now a place where folks come to rant whatever drops on their heads.

Hello Guys,

I'm throwing this question to you because it's very important. Every time I ask, "how is Nairaland?" I'm told that it is fine. If I ask what are the challenges I'm told there are none.

So I need to talk to you guys directly about what you think is going on and what you want us to do. I have not had the confidence to make major changes on Nairaland. I have a little confidence now because of AI.

What are your complaints, your challenges, your issues. What are the things that can drive people away and need to be nipped?

Speak your mind, but don't be rude. Thanks.

Sincerely, this isn't the first time you'll ask questions about ideas to improve nairaland and eventually, nothing would be done.

The most recent one is being strict on cyber bullying and tribalism, at the end nothing is being done till date.

There was a time there are nairaland competitions and some prizes were being given and we used to have excellent s that push relevant, inspirational, educational topics to FrontPage, unlike nowadays.

Overall, we need good moderation on topics and ' post. And a dislike button is necessary.

Thank you.

that's exactly how Africa think backward, they don't even know what caused the fire to start with, because of ordinary pictures
I can even think of how a well installed solar could ignite fire on the roof. There might be some other factors that could have caused such incident. That's if the photo is actually genuine.

This is a sad sad news... I once bought a top cylinder from him and as expected, he got me the best. There was a time i needed part of a power steering pump and he gave me a complete one for free. That was my first and only time of seeing him in person.

May God rest his soul, comfort the family and friends.

Rest on brother!

I sent it to my laptop after the screenshot didnt work and tried to scan it didn't even load at all just stayed on the camera scanning thingy.

And I also pressed "transfer from another phone" and it's saying there's currently no mobile service that offers e-sim plan in my region or country

(I dont know if this is how to reply to a comment on here)

You might have to report back to the nearest MTN centre to lodge a complain. Probably the QR Code is incorrect. Mine was seamless.

So I don't know if anyone would see this. But I'm using a samsung s21 5g and I tried to for esim on my mtn but I was told that,I can't because it wasn't my nin that was used to the sim(I am in ibadan rn for school) and my dad in Lagos was the one who ed it, so the person who attended to me there said he should do it and send the qr code over to me which he did
And I screenshot/screenshoted it to so I can just scan from my images, but I'm being told "couldn't read code, try scanning the qr code again" what could be the solution to this biko?

Are you trying to scan from the same phone? Or you transferred the QR Code to a different device and scan? I use Airtel e-sim and no issues though.

Exactly. Nigerians easily get swayed when they see a driver speeding aimlessly, without obeying or understanding even the basic traffic rules. It's pathetic!

I don't think i can be star struck by any celebrity. If he/she is someone i like, yes i can be happy for such opportunity and wear a smile on my face, that's all. The very few ones i can probably greet are Tubaba, Banky W, Davido and more of the older generations.

But then i still fit see them and still no send because of all the ones I've seen, I've never felt the urge to act gaga around them.

I see alot of them on Facebook marketplace. A time would come that Nigerians won't be moved by mere aesthetics of cars but it's history and mileage.

Modified: And go with you obd2 scanner, if possible. Sometimes, the Check Engine light is removed, broken or covered.
