Greetings everyone. Just a heads-up: there are new changes to the immigration law that came into effect yesterday, and there are many more that will go into effect in 2024. I know the situation at the Embassy is not desirable; however, this might also help your planning during and after your studies when you finally get in. Also, it is possible to move from your study to full-time work, most notably in IT, if you already have a degree in Nigeria. There are many courses on Udemy and other platforms which can be helpful.
Most importantly, if you are coming in for an MSc course, make use of the delay at the Embassy to be proficient in skills that are related to your interest and don't forget the language as well. Don't be surprised that you might get a full-time job before you graduate if you have the necessary skills and requirements. I wish you all the best in this journey, even though it is cumbersome. Shalom

Good morning, waiting for after interview, its been 6 weeks, school has resumed and they are advising to move studies to summer semester, i want to ask, if i move studies, does it affect my visa application with the embassy
Summer semester should start in March/April if I am correct. It takes over 12 weeks to get the approval mail now from what I have seen around here.
Moving your studies to March would be a wise decision.
You still need to have a conversation with your school visa team for the best advice on what to do. I don't think you should have any issues.

Sorry for the late update....
I have picked up my port with Visa stamped.
I booked for appointment on 21-08-2023
Got my AD same day and the interview date was on 7-09-2023
Here they dont send approval mail, you will go and pick up your port when its ready.
I got a message on 11-10-2023 that my port is ready and I should come and pick up.
I went to their office on 12-10-2023 and picked up my port and Visa was stamped
So it took 5 weeks to get my Visa after interview....
Guys don't allow anyone to discourage you, purse your dream with everything you have... If the embassy in Nigeria is delaying you, please check other African countries, like the west Africa countries. The day i went for my interview we are not upto 8 that day and i am the only one for study Visa, others are for visiting Visa and for family reunion. The Visa officer didn't ask me any question, he just took my documents and key it in.
Most of this countries their citizens travels through sea, so their embassies dont have traffic like the embassy in Nigeria.
How old was your Gambian resident permit before you applied for interview?
I heard from some folks that is should be at least 6 months old and only seen this instruction for only Rewanda, I am not sure about other countries. Would be great to have a general confirmation for everyone on the issue.

Hi Nairalanders! I need urgent Advice, please. I applied for a German study Visa early this year. Since the waiting period is 18 months, my calculation is, that by next year I should receive an appointment date. I had already zeroed my mind from this year. Lo and behold, an Appointment date came today, honestly I am not prepared for it. It's too sudden to raise over 11M within 20 days. Is it possible to reschedule my appointment (for probably summer semester)? Some people advised me to show up for the interview regardles s of whether my is fully blocked or not. I am really devastated and confused on what to do.
Weird luck.
I think it's better to reschededule your appointment than to get rejected at the spot. You can them to see if you can reschedule until next year presenting a tangible/believable reason.
If I may ask, when did you book your appointment this year and what category did you choose during appointment booking.

Next Month
When is your semester starting?
It's too close.
You have two options, move your studies to Winter next year. Wait time is currently over 1 year 6 months. If you booked last month, you probably might miss out the winter Semester next year.
Move your studies to summer/winter next year - go to Benin, get a PR, and apply after 6 months or get a scholarship.

I have experience in welder, plumbering, also learning forklift operator now... I work as industrial maintenance technician.
I repair industrial machines... In one of the pharmaceutical company here in Lagos....
Please 🙏 help me
The best person to give you the information you are looking for is your cousin who is sending the invitation letter.
I think you visa option is Family reunion but you are only eligible for family reunion as a Nigerian if you are a direct family to your host. I don't think going as a Cousin will work.
Another option is for your cousin to help you get a job offer/invitation.
You can check if you are eligible for a German visa with the Visa Navigator tool: https://digital.diplo.de/navigator/en/visa#/vib

Hallo Everyone!
I observed that the study route process took a different turn since during the COVID era and a lot has changed unlike it used to be pre-2018.
People applying and having to wait for over 1 year to get interview dates cos they don’t fall into a “special” category.
Well I have carefully studied and analyzed the trend, and had a friend apply the strategy.
For candidates who which to study in , here is a strategy that worked it’s a “7-month plan”;
1. Bookmark prospective schools
2. Move to Togo or BenĂn to apply for a resident
3. Apply for as many schools as possible
4.Ensure that your residency is Atleast 6-months old before you proceed to the embassy( from experience)
5. Proceed to apply via your new country of residence.
6. Takes approximately 1 month to conclude visa process if you have everything in place ( Sponsor letter or Blocked )
About me:
Studied in (2017) got every info from this platform too.
Learn to utilize your time by applying the right strategy.
Advice: For those in Data Science/Engineering/Analytic & Software development or any tech space, make sure you start looking for internships as soon as you arrive. NEEDS YOU.
For those who needs SL, it’s also available but one must fit some criteria ( People prefer giving it to females).
I will respond to mentions & PMs ( when I got the chance, also busy with work)
Goodluck!!

**For those sending me PMs, I keep getting “failure delivery” ( guess it’s from my email provider) each time I try to respond. Reach me via the email on my profile!

If you are in any Schengen region on a tourist visa and wish to convert it to a resident permit card, Mail Me.
Note it's possible provided your Schengen visa hasn't expired
How would this work?

Guys if you interest in benin - cotonou PR, DM me.. 09133912264, you can get benin PR in a month depending on your availability.
I am interested if this will work. Since Benin is a French speaking country, wouldn't the interview be conducted in French? I don't speak French.
Please provide more clarification about this and we can go from there.

It’s really frustrating, plus starting date is so close, most schools are resuming by October 🥺
It's really infuriating. I got the same email. 1 year 6 months to get a an interview at the German embassy for Nigerians is just an insult to our government.
From my observation, they are trying to stop Nigerians from taking advantage of their free/cheap education system but what they don't know is that lots of people are itted to private universities and they are a lot of genuine scholars from the applicants.
Category A wait time is within 4 weeks while B is over 1 year and 6 months. It doesn't make sense. It is better they scrap the Category B thing and make it known that you can only study in if you meet the requirements in Category A instead of frustrating the dreams and aspiration of genuine people. but they wouldn't do that as that would expose them.
We all know that in a decent country they will not be doing this. Our government is lackadaisical about issues like this and that is why we have to so something about it by letting the whole world know how treats Nigerian students.
If we don't put an end to this, everyone that comes after us will have to go through the same treatment or even worse.
Collectively if we put sufficient effort with the right resources, we can put this issue in front of the whole world and get a good reaction from the German embassy without risking our chances of going to . The way I see it, it's a win-win situation for us.
I'd like to hear you guys opinion about this so we can get into discussions about the plan and execution.

It is not a false info. My experience was a good example. I gained ission in 2020, waited for appointment but didn’t get any until 2021. My studies is a double degree with another university in Poland with which I got a scholarship that can help survive in the country since we might not be able to work in the Poland.
I applied to Poland embassy with the visa I got to visit the school they rejected me 2ce until I came to my senses, realising I had a scholarship all along that was just for the 2nd semester in Poland. I used this scholarship to apply for CAT A and I was given appointment.
So the person is right.
Thanks for providing more context to the topic. Was your visa application approved with the scholarship?
Also, did you have to come with the original letter of the scholarship or a digital printout will do?

Hey Guys,
What's the specification of scholarship you need to apply as category A.
I know the sites states "holding a scholarship financed from German public funds or European ed funds for a study or a PhD in or"
But how much, does it have to be fully funded? How much is enough for the scholarship to be valid.
